Very disappointing Virginia Tour. Durbridge underperforming and Talansky messing up that final stage as well to cost us many points in a race that should've been huge for us.

Stages 17-19 of the Vuelta: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....st_1287533
Stages 3-5 of Peace Tour: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....st_1287328
And Round 1 of Quebec SC: https://pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread....st_1287980
As you might notice I have rearranged groups a little bit to avoid team mates clashing before the quarterfinal.
Spoiler The way Nibali rode on Stage 17 was one of the most frustrating things I can remember in PCM. He definitely wasn't weaker than the riders in front. I'd even say he was one of the strongest on that day, the way he almost closed the 3 minutes gap by himself. On the climb it just seemed like he was on a Sunday ride with his teammates. It does not make any sense. It is very likely he has lost the Vuelta just due to that.
Still, the suspense couldn't be higher before the final TT. Only 8 seconds! |

Looks like Howard is not very interested in a renewal. Hasn't been performing well lately, not to say terrible

The suspense. Kill me now Three favourites within 27 seconds...
Very strong performance by Herrada on stage 17, the obligatory fuck-up the next day. It seems like that the red jersey is bound to be the passive one and whilst the jersey switches between Bertie, Nibali, and Herrada, the one in charge does nothing while the other two happily attack. PCM at its best. Still, the GC battle is so freaking close. It all gets decided by daily form lottery uuugh
if Jesus wins Vuelta he'll be an instant legend for the team. The performance he showed here in Spain (and France) really makes me happy that I invested the cash and seasons in him.

Wow Vanendert took the lead into Peace country, if he wins this race who knows what's possible in the WT rankings in October.. Too bad for Ceramica though with Aru f'cking up an easy GC win.
Fernandez also sneaked to 5th place in the GC. I hope he stays there but odds are he'll crumble back to 8th
Thanks for the many results lately bikex

Inspiration for Jesús. Anquetil when he won a race by 12 seconds. Vamos!

Wow. So we really let TT randomness decide between three equal tters for the GT victory
As much as i want to milk the time with Contador on my team, but i cant ignore what an awesome passing of the torch moment this would be if Herrada would win this. As long as Nibali doesnt win ... (sorry Bikex )

Shame Simek lost time in Paix...
Good win for Tastevitch!
Spilak and Sklar still decent in Vuelta.
Kovacic not up to much in Canada, shame, now it's up to my Russian rocket...

Great Vuelta! I'm not a fan of the GC being decided by a time trial in PCM, but what can you do? They've been attacking each other on nearly every stage, those behind always finding an answer the next day. But yeah, Nibali really frustrating on stage 17.

So basically it's like the first 19 stages never happened for the GC win in Vuelta?
Porte is no longer Portechkin

I like Martin attacks from far out, at least he's not sitting on his arse knowing he'll lose a lot of time in the TT. I will be happy if he can maintain his sixth position.
Also the sprinters doing well in Course de la Paix, with a stage win from Petit as cherry on the cake!

I see the suspense for the final Vuelta stages is rising. Before posting the results later tonight, I have uploaded the video of the time trial already: https://youtu.be/s5PIWHvkK_Y |

Spoiler Without a doubt in my mind, this is my most favourite moment on daily ever. Thank you bikex, thanks ICL!! Grande Herrada. Can't believe that he did it. And what a race of those two champions on the podium with him. GT-wise, ICL beats ManGame imo any day of the week.
Now watch Contador in the slipstream of Kittel win stage 21

Congrats Shonak!
On one hand I'm disappointed that Nibali was the one of the big three present performing the worst, on the other hand I'm happy Contador hasn't won (Sorry knockout ). Winning the Vuelta with 3 different riders, 3 years in a row is a very special achievement.
Also impressed by Sevilla's results yet again. They came very close to winning the last 4 stages in a row and are the 4th highest scoring team!
This Vuelta broke many ICL records: Regarding stage wins there was never a team as successful as Carbonsports here with their 10 wins. 6 seconds is the smallest gap in a GT GC between 1st and 2nd. There was never a GT before in which only 2 riders had to withdraw.
Regarding the ranking points Carbonsports falls 23 points short of Bunzl - Centrica's Giro 2017! So there was a team that dominated a GT more before already.
Nibali will return next year to complete his ICL-GT triple! |
