EPIC - Season 1 Part 1
knockout
Quintana wins Banana

Btw, how do you decide your favourites? I would more go with Quintana, Purito, Nibali and Contador then with Costa, VIsconti, Porte or Rogers..
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Ok, we didn't thought that we will be among the favorites, but for a f*ck sake Tony, this was crap.

For those of you that haven't read my earlier post in the Survivor thread, my hard disk died last night, so until I can get a new computer, I can't contribute to the game. This, of course, means I can't do Crit.Int. or update my thread (well I could do it on my PS3 but it would take days).

I will definitely still follow and will hopefully be back soon.

Race report
167kms to go: Navarro (Cofidis) has already lost a lot of time. He seems to have recovered a bit though and attacks today.
166kms to go: Millar (Garmin) and Sarmiento (Cannondale) also attack.
165kms to go: Roy (FDJ) attacks as well.

154kms to go: As soon as the group is reeled in, we get new attacks. Westra (Vacansoleil) is the most prominent, but Clarke (Orica) and Martínez (Euskaltel) are also there.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0378_zps6d12cb3c.jpg

150kms to go: The gap now reaches the 2 minutes.
146kms to go: The pack gives a lot of space: the lead is 3 minutes now.

140kms to go: The lead is still increasing, although the lead of the pack has been seized. Lampre, Katusha, BMC, Argos and Lotto seem to do most of the work.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0379_zps40fd2f16.jpg

133kms to go: The intermediate sprint is won by Westra, ahead of Clarke. Martínez for some reason decides to drop back to the pack.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0380_zps497d7503.jpg

125kms to go: The lead is already 6minutes now.
124kms to go: Martínez is reeled in by the pack.
123kms to go: Argos decides to up the pace in the pack.
100kms to go: Due to the work of Argos the lead is just 4 minutes now.

82kms to go: Westra wins the first mountain sprint.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0381_zpsfe64924b.jpg

82kms to go: Barguil, Nocentini, Bakelants and I. Izagirre attacks from the pack.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0382_zps6acbb07e.jpg

80kms to go: Nordhaug attacks as well.
76kms to go: He catches up with the quartet now.

73kms to go: Westra seems superior to Clarke and wins the second mountain sprint as well.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0383_zps1a65fa3d.jpg

52kms to go: The first 2 groups merge.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0384_zps6faf9188.jpg

40kms to go: Suddenly there's a huge increase of the pace up front and the break is reeled in.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0385_zpscb8cf778.jpg

38kms to go: Bakelants, Nocentini and Izagirre try again.
36kms to go: Ulissi joins them.
35kms to go: This initiative doesn't work either.

23kms to go: Schröder, Bardet and Iglinskiy attack.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0386_zps0ae02d21.jpg

21kms to go: But no, Argos is too strong it seems.

20kms to go: Here is some attack! Dani Moreno gets away with ease. Gilbert and Bardet try to follow in the back, as is Dan Martin.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0387_zpse7b82a6b.jpg

14kms to go: At the top of the final categorized climb of today, Moreno is still ahead. Gilbert is coming closer quickly. Valverde is approaching as well.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0388_zps90b345df.jpg

5kms to go: Moreno now seems to get tired. Valverde and Gilbert seem as well, but the pack might still catch all 3 riders.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0389_zps6b1b64b6.jpg

3kms to go: Gilbert and Valverde are reeled in, so now it's everyone vs. Moreno.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0390_zps34613a68.jpg

1km to go: Moreno is too tired, so the sprint starts. Kittel seems to be very strong.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0391_zps36337fc3.jpg

At the finish
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/EPIC%20Reports/PCM0392_zpsb12e9606.jpg
Chavanel wins! He crushes everyone. Kittel 2nd, Moreno hangs on for 3rd.

It just doesn't end for OPQS..

Just outside of the top 10 again, too bad for Brouwer, this stage was perfect for him.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Marcovdw
At least Jurgen didn't lose time today Smile

How am I supposed to win a stage with this startlist?

You should have brought Voeckler, he always wins a stage in my career.

Good to see the boys trying something today!

I guess Egoi just couldn't be bothered if the others wanted to spritn - that's not how we roll at Euskaltel - Euskadi...

So happy with my team today, another good result!

Don't really understand how every sprinter is tired, except Kittel, who is by far one of the worst sprinters on hilly terrain... Smile

At least Sarmiento tried to get into the break for us.

Jesleyh
@Atlantius Could've done that, but Schröder wanted to ride here, having more HI than Voeckler.
And with Po-Ding & Peeters also here, I didn't want to OP my squad Wink
Edit: And our favourite rider from Iceland also here ofc Pfft
