Garmin - End of 3rd Season - Continue in PCM11

That is so annoying, when you are chasing with your whole team on high percentage and still the breakaway rider increases the gap. Bad luck.

agree, on difficult/extreme when the IA decides to make these long range attacks, it is almost impossible to chase. Best thing you can do is try to close the gap immediately and/or chase on medium pace (60/70) on uphill sections and very high pace on flat/downhill.

I hope this unbelievable solo victories will not happen in PCM 2011 :/ Nonetheless Sánchez did a good job, At least 2nd overall Grin

roturn
Indeed very annoying if a single rider can`t be caught also your riders are quite good on hills and doing a very high pace. But obviously Frank was supposed to win this stage Wink Hope he won`t be in P-N.
@ titleist: This is what I have done. The gap was 2min and I always had a very high pace on the descent and also a quite high pace on the climbs without killing my riders there. The gap increased on 6min, then getting smaller again.
@ Janne: Hope so, too. Although it`s happening very rarely I think and Landish showed us that it`s possible Grin

Vuelta a Andalucía - Stage 4
Malaga - Malaga
img340.imageshack.us/img340/586/pcm0011f.jpg
The 4th stage is a very short timetrial and almost a prologue. So Sanchez and Boom might be big favourites here. Also Konovalovas and Lancaster are expected to fight for the win.
With Millar and Pate we have two options, which could also do very well.

img88.imageshack.us/img88/9976/pcm0012.jpg
Shame on me, that the riders are still wearing the old 2010 helmets ;(
I must have made some mistake editing the files. Hopefully I can present my ITT helmet in Murcia then.
David Millar with a very good time. He beats Lancaster`s time by 3 seconds.
13'16
Danny Pate had not the best time and just finished with 13'26

img121.imageshack.us/img121/1994/pcm0013g.jpg
ITT World Champion Lars Boom with another great time. He beats all earlier times and takes the lead.
13'09

img16.imageshack.us/img16/4040/pcm0014s.jpg
Ignatas Konovalovas is the next on the road and his speed is looking quite well. Indeed he is 3s faster then Boom.
13'06

img573.imageshack.us/img573/1611/pcm0015v.jpg
Sanchez with a lot of anger after yesterdays stage. With this extra energy he kills all times by far and takes the stage win easily. What a time.
12'47

img201.imageshack.us/img201/4230/pcm0016b.jpg
Well, Schleck won`t lose 3 minutes today. But maybe we need every second tomorrow. He is 36s slower than the Spaniard.
13'23
With Boom on 3 and Millar on 6 we can be very happy. Unfortunately Kesiakoff lost his 4th to Velits and felt back on the 5th now, what is still good for him.

Great ITT.. pity, that Schleck made this huge gap the stage before.. but 2nd in GC still good Smile

janne_837
Yeah without that third stage Sánchez would be in the lead Sad Nice TT-win and great performances from Boom and Millar, too.

roturn
Thanks both. It was indeed just this one stage Angry
But well, still a great preparation for Paris Nice.

Vuelta a Andalucía - Stage 5
Torrox Costa - Antequera
img52.imageshack.us/img52/1574/pcm0001.jpg
The final stage is again very hilly with a short but steep climb a few kilometers to the finish. It`s the last chance for Sanchez to gain time on Schleck, but gaining almost 3min seems impossible.

img517.imageshack.us/img517/6563/pcm0002.jpg
And the stage already starts very well for us. Rojas Gil crashes with just 5km. Luckily he isn`t injured a lot.

img411.imageshack.us/img411/2739/pcm0003u.jpg
5 riders attacked successful. One of them is David Millar (Garmin), who goes for the stage win here. Antuña (Café), Lechuga (Euskaltel), Pujol Muñoz (Saxobank) and Gastauer (Carmiooro) are his companions.

img143.imageshack.us/img143/3654/pcm0004.jpg
Especially Soler for Astana and Lastras for Movistar are doing the pace. With Millar in the group our helpers can relax a bit today.

img201.imageshack.us/img201/4629/pcm0005.jpg
Although the group is no danger for the top 10 they are chasing very hard and so the peloton splits in several groups. Sanchez, Kessiakoff and Boom were the only Garmin riders being able to stay in front.

img714.imageshack.us/img714/9830/pcm0006o.jpg
Already 22km to the finish the break is over. No luck today for Millar. So we can concentrate on Sanchez.

img232.imageshack.us/img232/1786/pcm0007q.jpg
On the last climb Sanchez is increasing a lot when he saw that Schleck is in a bad position in the end of the group.
Together with Velits he is able to create a gap. A second group around Cobo and Kessiakoff is still ahead of Schleck`s group with Boom.

img194.imageshack.us/img194/2550/pcm0008o.jpg
Velits is the better sprinter and takes the win and saves his 4th in the overall ahead of Kessiakoff. But still a good result for Sanchez today.

img145.imageshack.us/img145/7236/pcm0009.jpg
Kessiakoff with a strong 3rd ahead of Gautier. The next group around Vinokourov and Cobo was counted the same time as also the next group around Schleck. So instead of 56s Sanchez just gained 27s on him. But this wasn`t really important today.

+1
Didn´t won the GC but still a great result...we can already think what will happen in PN...Sánchez will do great there.

roturn
I hope so ;D
Will be much better than Tirreno probably as Hesjedal and Fuglsang won`t be in a top form there.
Just started the cobbled classics with Omloop Het Niuewsblad but unfortunately it crashed with 20km to go Angry (Maaskant had +5Angry) So I might lower or deactivate the shadows for the classics in general.

baia
Oh..damn crash,he could have made it...just like what happened with Vona..

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is a Flanders Classics single day cycle race held in the Belgian province of East Flanders.
It uses some parts of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen and is a preperation race for the big cobbled classics.
It is characterised by cold weather and short cobbled climbs.

Garmin squad in 2012
img571.imageshack.us/img571/4828/teambm.jpg
We will start the classic season with our best cobbles team. Except of Felline, Boom and Vandervelde all riders are still need some races before fighting for victories. So Boom will lead our team, while Maaskant, Haussler and Felline can also ride on their own.

Biggest surprise is that Liquigas and Quickstep won`t participate. So Boonen, Chavanel, Gilbert, and Nuyens can`t go for the win. But quite sure that all of them will have a great form in the big classics.
Next to Garmin Leopard-Trek has an excellent squad here. Former Paris Roubaix winners Cancellara and Breschel will lead the team. But also their new Dane Guldhammer is a good bet for a great result in these races.

Gent - Gent
img152.imageshack.us/img152/4889/profileo.jpg
The race isn`t as hilly as the Ronde but still a hard race to begin the classics. It`s also very windy today, so all riders must be careful. At least it`s not raining at the moment and so we hope to avoid many crashes on wet cobblestones.

img138.imageshack.us/img138/3284/pcm0002n.jpg
6 riders with the usual attack in the morning. Kashechkin (Lampre), J.Sagan (Saxobank), M.Fothen (NetApp), Gadret (Ag2r), Steenuit (Verandas) and Didier (Leopard).

img526.imageshack.us/img526/4886/pcm0003x.jpg
Several teams with a slow pace in the peloton. We just started with the first cobbles. Our Garmin riders are still waiting in the peloton.

img718.imageshack.us/img718/8694/pcm0004b.jpg
After 100km Kevyn Ista (Cofidis) and Andy Cappelle (An Post) attacked. Both of them are quite good cobble riders but it will be hard against that many teams.

img839.imageshack.us/img839/4151/pcm0005x.jpg
On the cobbles Leopard is by far the strongest team. Breschel`s pace splits the group and so just Guldhammer and Cancellara can follow. But Sky, Garmin and Rabobank are already chasing and will bring them back.

img207.imageshack.us/img207/8201/pcm0006se.jpg
5km to the finish and still 50s for the two Belgiums. Could they really surprise the favourites here? Farrar already lost contact to the first group and Haussler is very exhausted. Boom, Maaskant and Felline are looking for good wheels to follow.
(Unfortunately Maaskant`s +1 was the best in the 2nd try, shame that he didn`t have a +5 again)

img33.imageshack.us/img33/3595/pcm0007y.jpg
Ista really wins Omloop Het Nieuwsblad after being 7th last year. Steegmans and Breschel were still able to oversprint Cappelle. Maaskant as 10th is the best Garmin rider, which had no big chance in a sprint finish and without a better form. Also Boom`s 12th isn`t too bad.

baia
Not +5min but still a top10..Wink
Great win from Ista..

roturn
Indeed a nice win by Ista. But it wasn`t 5min with Maaskant but a daily form of +5 and so I hoped for a nice attack in the end. Without being in form with most riders this result is ok. -.-

baia
Ohh,my bad then...thought it was +5min aheadGrin ...would be nice too..

Alakagom
You did quite well, good luck for next cobble races.

Tombola
Maybe Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne will give you a podium spot!

roturn
Next reports tomorrow as I had no time today.
Hope to win KBK as Farrar and Haussler should do well there.
Also GP Lugano should be successful with Sanchez in a good shape. Hesjedal and Fuglsang are just using it for Tirreno.

BoogieBoogie
The new equipment looks really nice Smile Your results too.
