vande velde might not be totally out of it.
he would have lost only 35 seconds if it wasnt for a crash on the descent. i think he can take 2.5 minutes on everyone in the TT except evans and menchov... that could mean top5 or top3 depending on how well he goes on alpe d'huez |

Isso, are you mad at CSC-Saxo Bank or something? Besides Kohl, they are the only ones who wants to make this race entertaining with aggresive riding.. Yes, yes, Evans has his reasons to ride conservatively, but god it's boring! |

CSC failed today as they didnt lose Evans, and theres no way Frank Schleck will win more than a minute on Evans tommorow so in other words...
Evans will win the tour

Yeah, well Schleck took a convincing win the last time he rode Alpe Du Huez... Let see, but its the second day of mountains so i wonder if Schleck has worked on his recovery. |

Im hoping for kohl to do something tomorrow as he followed sastre quite easily when he attacked. I think he wanted to attack with somebody today as it was a downhill finish so im thinking he could get a minue on evasn tomorrow (i hate evans the wheelsucker!!) Anyway if he gets ahead you all know how much of a lift the yellow jersey gives to you and he could pull out a suprise like he has so far as nobody expected him to be in top3 at this stage.
And as far as the tour being boring goes did you watch the prato nevosa stage!!!! Also the giro had a druggy coming 2nd so i will leave it at that for now. |

Sastre will gain time to everyone tomorrow. He's looking pretty amazing and i only see Menchov in a higher place in the podium than im.

But god the man is busy winning TdF! Something CSC has yet to achieve despite their teamwork and agressiveness.

regarding to andy schleck, he has been a great helper, but he is not the supposed to be tour candidate as everyone, especially you A_Schleck, hyped him to be this year. Which I have been saying for more than a year now, he isn't. As helper of yellow jersey, you always exceed your own level, just look at Boogerd last year, so I don't think that is anything out of the ordinary.
Andy Schleck is were I expected him to be, just around the top 10. Definately not the tour candidate so many people saw in him this year. Thats what I always meant with being overhyped. Overhyped = people expect WAY too much. |

I fail to see how any of that relates to anything I said

Andy Schleck said he made a rookie mistake and forgot to eat at stage 10 to Hautacam and ran out of energy. Sounds like a good explanation to why he's been so strong at other mountain stages.
Menchov beats Evans tomorrow by two minutes and only loses 1 to Kohl and Sastre. Takes the GC in TT! |

I don't know if I have ever expressed that I though Andy was a Tour candidate this year, because I'm pretty sure that I, all along, has been saying that if any CSC rider is going to win this year, it's Sastre. If I litterarily have said that Andy will win the Tour this year it has most certainly been said jokingly, because I have never had any expectations whatsoever for Andy winning this tour. I have hyped him for the white jersey, yes, but that's not hyping since he has it now, inspite of losing almost 10 minutes at the Hautacam. Andy himself has been saying all along that he will be working for Sastre and that he hoped he could maybe finish in the top 10, but that goal dissapeared on the Hautacam, but since then he has stepped up again, and he has been riding phenomenally. You can't take that away from him.

Its a shame Augustyn crashed, I wanted him to win the stage.
But I also cant believe that there were no attacks from the favourites whatsoever. CSC inparticular. Its not as if Frank Schleck is going to be allowed in the breakaway tomorrow as he was 2 years ago
The tour is still by far and away the best grand tour for me though. With the Giro in 2nd and the Vuelta far behind in the Grupetto, not worthy of even 3rd. (Thats my view, and noone can change it)

That's your view, you take reputation and hype into account and that's fine, it's part of your enjoyment.
For me personally what matters is just one thing: the racing. And the Tour is usually where it's worst. The Vuelta on the other hand is usually the most competitive, 2007 excepted.
Today was a perfect example of the Tour: everyone just watched each other in fear.

Probably the major factor is the fact that British TV always covers it. Ive grown up watching the Tour de France yet have only followed the results of the other 2 Grand Tours since the 2006 Vuelta and the only way for me to watch the Vuelta or Giro is online. But even so, while the Giro has interested me enough to watch it - the Vuelta has not done so.

No doubt that the chances for finishing on top of GC isn't the best at the moment. Hope either Carlos or Frank can take the necessary minutes, but I think one of them will have to attack on Col de la Croix de Fer. Thinks Frank would have the best chances(if he has the legs of course) since Evan might consider Carlos a bigger threat overall. Also, I think 18th stage could be interesting as well since it very hilly, and perfect for classic-riders like F. Schleck.
