How old is Richie Porte surely he could be the youngest winner of a grand tour.
He is not going to win and there have been younger winners of GT
Much younger, even. Youngest Rider to win the Giro d'Italia: Fausto Coppi in 1940 he was 20 years, 8 months and 25 days old (from Wikipedia). |

From CyclingWeekly:
Just to recap how the break formed... Okay so here's how the monster breakaway group established itself (all from the Sky car):
There was an aggressive start to the day and the bunch split on the first climb. It then started raining heavily on the descent so the bunch sat up to get their wet weather gear, and voila, before anyone had noticed the gap was ten minutes.
Several of the weaker teams were left in the grupetto so the chase wasn't what it could have been. The onus was on BMC and Astana to chase, but both had already lost several riders out of the back.
Hey presto, one of the most exciting grand tours in history.

Pineau tries to take the stage... He was among those I though could pose a threat.
