Thanks, I live in the Yorkshire dales, so there isn't really any flat terrain where I live.

I'll see, it might have to wait until I start earning some money. (Applied for a job 8 Months ago, haven't heard back yet) Smile

Well, I'll be hiring a power meter for my winter training for probs 2 months this season, so I can actually get some proper 'ard intervals in. Or in other words, start training productively. Once I get some numbers, I'll let ya all know what you need power-wise to be a really average amateur.

Even though I do already know due to my degree. But regardless. I'll brag about it lots.

Ok cool, I just did 10 miles in 28 minutes in the gym so now to find a nice 10 miile circuit and see how I do on the roads.

Just a question, don't you have to follow school to ride in pro races? Atleast here in Belgium it's required ...

What are pro races in Belgium?

Kami
Official races, so races where you need to have a cycling license with the federation.

I´ve got a license but i didn´t say anything about school in my request, but in Germany you have to go to school if you´re not 18 or older. And if you´re older, nobody cares about that

If anyone owns a Sigma meter, please help me, it's a matter of life or death (not of a human being, just of a stupid meter).
I hadn't used my meter for 3 years or so, and meanwhile the battery turned dead.
Now I got a new one, so as I put it inside, I automatically get into the settings menu. Fine, everything is set up. Smile

Now I'd like to use it, and that's where the problem starts. Can't get out of the settings menu. I tried everything (ok, probably not everything, as there has to be a way), including various keys combinations, or putting the meter on the bike and getting the wheel to turn, but nothing will do, the only things I can get displayed are the settings. Angry
Oh, and of course I checked the manual. It only explains how to set the various parameters, now how to get out of the bloody menus (why would one use a meter for anything else than setting it up after all, it's almost as fun as a game boy, isn't it ?).

At the moment I'm wondering how many bumps it could do against various walls before landing on the ground, or how many times a 65 kg man would need to jump on it to get it dead. Shock

Which Sigma do you have? I had one with one key below the display and two up, and i´m pretty sure you have to press one of the upper keys some seconds.

1606 L, with 4 keys. I tried various key combinations, long pushes, shorter pushes, nothing would do. So I abandonned the f*cker. When I checked it back, it looked like it had made its way out of the settings menu, on his own.

Hello,

I Love cycling but, I don't live in the perfect place to train much. And i'm also don't have much time. Because I have an other Hobby: Athletics. I do the 100m and Longjump. But i think I'll maybe start with training my 400m. I think about starting with cycling in a amateur-club. I'll have to get a decent bycicle then. Last vacation in took my Bycicle with me, and I cycled up 7km of the Cormet de Roselend. and 5km of the Col d'Izoard. Ending up half-Death on the top. I think it's not that bad for a 13 year old kid? What do you think?

I think doing a mix of sports at a young age is the perfect thing to do. Keep trying different events, distances, sports, until you find something that really fires you up to dedicate more time to.

Keep on runnin'/pedallin'/exercisin'.

100 m at 13 ? I thought it was rather 60 m then for those who're targetting 100 m as juniors then adults ?

Obviously, if you do the long jump too, you're a natural born sprinter, so long endurance ride might not suit you, but you could be a good rider on the track (for sprint events). Give it a try if you can.

sam1196
sorry I mean that i aim for 100m but with my age it's 80m.
Recently i found out that my 400m is even better. And in javellin throw I won with 12m in front of the rest of the throwers. My trainer wants that i follow a special training for the throw-numbers ( shot-put, Javelin etc.).
Aquarius your'e completely right that I should try track-cycling. But as far as i know there aren't much places to practice that. Am I wrong?

Aquarius
Depends where you live, and where the closest track is. It's very unlikely that we're neighbours, so I can't help you much here.
I don't know if you'll find some fun in throwers, depends on people, but in my opinion, sprint events, or track cycling events are 100x more fun.

sam1196
yeah we aren't neighbours because i don't think you are belgian. Wink

101 km, 3h40, lots of wind, and a hypoglycaemia on the last climb (which is the horrible one the TDF will finish on next year). Flat as Brittany I tell you...
Really I'm past the age for those stupid things, why do I still have to ride my bike ?

Couple of rides this week, averaging 11 Km/h but then I did stop every 10 minutes, pretty flat, but I hadn't been on my bike for almost a year, so 16.4 Km in 90 minutes isn't too bad. Smile

Mind you, I think I need a new seat. Wink

Just rode 35 miles after two weeks off the bike because of vacation.

What's the least painful way to commit suicide?
