While Gesink, Kroon and Moerenhout were already sure about their WC spot. Johnny Hoogerland and Lars Boom can be added to that list. The last spot will go to one of the following riders: Ten Dam, Langeveld, Tankink or Weening
And the last spot goes to Langeveld. Also Clement won´t ride TT because of an injury. He will be replaced by Moerenhout. The big question now is, will Gesink ride ?

I still have doubts about Mendrisio circuit difficulty level. Yes, the circuit is 3,5km shorter than Varese but the climbs are almost the same, in fact the second climb in Varese had 3,1km and Mendrisio 2º climb looks around 1km. Are these climbs steeper?
Last year the course was talked to be very selective and a big group of non great climbers ended in front. |

I don't want a flat race that is just offered up to sprinters, but I don't want a race tailored to climbers as well. I want to see a race where you would see someone win it who isn't going to race 4 times a year....Valverde, Contador.
Ballan would have raced a lot more this year except for his injury. So I like the puncheur courses, gives sprinters a chance, climbers have to be smart at time attacks. |

Norway have 2 great riders, Hushovd and Hagen. Hushovd has no chance on this kind of race, sorry.
Hagen with a little chance, but not much (still have the ENECO hilly stage in my mind)
The Netherlands have Gesink and Kroon, who have PROVED they can handle THIS kind of route, unlike Hushovd and Hagen, and they have some prety nice backup with Boom, Moerenhout, and Hoogerland (and for the last place Langeveld/Tankink or Weening).
Compare that to norway, I'm sorry, but it just doesn't add up, on THIS kind of course, The Dutch team is miles better
Take: 3. 343. (92) [NOR] ARVESEN Kurt Asle SAX 09/02/1975 159
With 159 CQ points, he would not even be in the op 15(!!!!!!!) of Dutch riders.
Except Hagen and Hushovd, they are nowhere near the Dutch riders level.
You can't judge a rider solely on the basis of EQ points. Arvesen is a pretty good rider. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be on the CSC/Saxo Bank team for five of the last six editions of TdF. |

You can't decide solely on that - but that doesn't change the fact that Netherlands have much better riders overall than Norway. |

I wasn't talking about the overall strength of the teams. |

Czech nomination for road race has changed today....Frantisek Rabon of Team Columbia was replaced with Jan Bárta of Austrian team KTM Junkers. He and current Czech champion Martin Mares of PSK Whirlpool will help to success of Roman Kreuziger....
Frantisek Rabon decided to race only time trial... |
