Here's an interesting tidbit: Bruyneel reveals he's contractually obligated to have 8-10 kazakhs in the team every year. |

He has 10 now - does this mean that Vino isn't coming? |

It's weird that he'd say that. Why not just say "minimum 8"?
Maybe he has a minimum of 8 OR of 10 depending on certain circumstances? Like the total number of riders on the team.

knew this, he said to a magazine i read. He said there's pressure to have Vino if he comes back, and might have to have him because of sponsor pressure.

Maybe it has to be 1/3 of the team? 8 if 24, 9 if 27, 10 if 30. Would make sense to me.

Looks like John Devine won't be with Columbia in 2009, he isn't listed in team's site. |

I see no reason why they'd part with him, much less part and not announce it. Especially after the glowing reviews he got from Columbia DSs and Stapleton himself. |

On September 13th Columbia announced the riders that they had already contracted for 2009. Devine was in the list.
Weird.
EDIT: make that Sep. 12th
EDIT 2: Interestingly enough, at the time they did not list Ciolek as a 2009 member, but they did list Gerdemann. Of course later Gerdemann threw a "I wanna leave. bwaaahh." tantrum like he had done 3 years earlier at CSC and they let him go.

You're right, Gusev is the one with ??? (also no news about it).
The strange with Devine is there's no news about him not being with Columbia.
New Columbia jersey:

Weird. Gusev is with Katusha this year.
Also, the jersey looks like the Liquigas and CSC jerseys of the past (the "abdominals" and color pattern) only with different colors. weird. |

It should be noted that the Australian's comments reflect a complete departure from the prevalent culture at T-Mobile in a bygone era, where hierarchy and massive egos resulted in the mess that Stapleton found himself in charge of. Take the 2005 Tour de France, for example. Ullrich, Vinokourov, Klöden, Honchar… and what came of it? A time trial win for Honchar, a podium place for Ullrich and fifth overall for Vinokourov; all of these results have come under scrutiny in the years since, and most don't believe in the credibility of any of them.
Will cyclingnews ever write an entire article without majorly screwing up facts?
I'm beginning to doubt it
Gonchar (not Honchar) had 2 time trial wins. not 1. And in 2006. Not 2005. They're confusing years. But hey, it's cyclingnews, that's unfortunately completely normal on their part. |

Gonchar (not Honchar)
