First week past and ricco' is already 3 mins behind
don't know if he can cut off something from this handicap
pellizotti was very good in this first week, he was always there in front...time for ricco to take some CERA and have a better giro than he had until now
i think i know why ricco lost that time..because this 2 stages finished in descent, and 2 more important mountain stages will finish in descent

Im now hoping that Pellizotti will get a boost from the maglia rosa in the time trial so he can limit his losses a little.

Carrara has done well, and with the crash victims suffering could sneeak a top 10, but will get blown away in the tt's

Giro d'Italia Week 1 Round-up
The first week of the Giro has been dominated by 1 rider: Theo Bos. He's limited the GC candidates with his impressive crash, and riders like Ghisalberti and Caruso will be looking towards stage wins now.
The race for the maglia rosa already looks like it's down to just 4 riders, with 5th place Carrara already a minute down. All those below Carrara will be hoping for something impressive to bring back that time.
Cunego is the hot red favourite for the maglia rosa, but this year, his competition is tougher. Sella will be looking to get time on him in the mountains, and Nibali will be trying to cling on so he can gain enough seconds in the time trial. Current leader Pellizotti seems unlikely to be able to hold onto his lead, but it'll be interesting to see how long he can keep it.
The race for the maglia verde (points) has been interesting. The Bos crash meant that the top sprinters like Bennati went out of the running, and it now seems to be Pellizotti vs Cavendish vs Petacchi.
Hot
Damiano Cunego and La Gazetta dello Sport
They have already butchered away a lot of the competition after setting a tough pace on stage 7 (even though some of the team is injured). The Little Prince's attack was perfectly timed, and he is in a great position now to carry on and win the Giro d'Italia again.
Franco Pellizotti
Was in the right place at the right time when he followed Cunego's attack, and his stage win was well deserved. The big question now remaining is can he continue this hot streak?
Luigi Sestili
The Credit Lyonnais rider has not only taken the climber's jersey, but he has also defended it well. He'll lose it of course, but he's had a good run
Cold
Theo Bos
Oh dear
Ricardo Ricco'
Awful stage 7 from him, really has to produce something spectacular now to challenge for the maglia rosa
Festina
Everyone's injured. Blame Bos is their new slogan
Ivano Lo Cicero and Viktor Renäng
Both riders are below Bos in the GC. Shame on you!
That's the week 1 round-up, week 2 will go a long way in deciding this edition's Giro, with a time trial and 3 mountain top finishes

Well, not the most impressive results by Pozzovivo, but hopefully he can make up on it on the next mountain stages. |

Seems a bit early to count out so many riders for the win Crommy before the first mountain stage or ITT
I hope Pellizotti can stay in the top 5 and maybe also get the points jersey. However, Cunego will probably end up winning the points jersey, as he wins everything else in the next 2 weeks of the race.

Don't tell me you thought you would actually be able to keep your lead throughout the entire season. The big teams have only just started to come out and play.

Nope I never said I thought that, but my CHANCES for it to happen got ruined here... I could've gotten 6th here with Caruso among with a couple of stagepoints. That surely isn't a lot worse than the "Big" teams... Only Mrlol's team would've totally outowned me here... Perhaps also Magenta, but I would think I could beat him in the long run...
atm i'm on 369pts. After the Giro I could have estimated 400+ pts... 400 atleast!
The winner last year 948pts, but look at 2nd place. Only 791. And with 400 after the Giro 800pts in the overall certainly wouldn't be impossible? The Giro is by far my weakest GT, and I would reckon I have a decent shot at getting top 5 in the Vuelta and top 10 in the Tour... So 6th here, 8th or so TdF and 5th Vuelta, how can any "big" team overkill me with that? |

OK, didn't know about the amount of races, but I would be surprised if they didn't roll around top 10... But that's for the future to tell...
I never said I thought my team would win, I think I will do somewhere around top 5, like I've said all along, but it would be stupid to count my out headlessly imo... |
