This restricted system doesn't interest me at all for a climber. If i'd have seen these stat base's and limits before signing up i would have picked very differently. As it is my character doesn't fit in the game and i have no real desire to try and develop Thomas Hinault, for the reason i can't make the rider i find fun or continue the story and rider i made in sign-up.
No one had seen the base stats when they signed up, so I can't really make an exception for you. Doing so might be incentive for others to also go down this path!
I'm sorry you feel you this way but I'm not really sure what you were expecting for a 'climber'. I think I've chosen the stat upgrade limits to mimic how a cyclist would improve irl. I hope you'd consider staying and giving the game a chance.
The fact i didn't know is kind of my point. In such a limited system that information would have been really good to know! If i wanted to make a Hilly-Sprinter how would i know whether to go Sprinter, Hills, Classics?
I don't mind Climber but it's rather dull honestly. On a minimum GP total i can max MO, HL, ACC and get my RES, STA + REC + FL to good levels without issue. But what about TT? I'm a climber, if i wanted TT i'd have picked Stage Racer. There's no challenge or choices to make unless i want to drop REC and not think about GT's.
But for Classics or Rouler or something else with multiple key stats i would have to make choices about which way to go and focus.
That is why i want to change, because now i've figured out where my rider ends as a minimum there's nothing else to do. At least on a different rider specialization i have to make difficult choices year to year, and i could react to what other players are doing.
Lets say i took Classics and someone else did. They focused heavily on hills, i can see that and focus more on Cobbles instead. With a Climber i don't have a choice, it's MO or nothing.
Perhaps i made a mistake picking Climber. In which case i still want to change it. And if i can't then i'm not going to be active until i can change it or until i can have a second rider, because i'm not going to commit time and effort to a known mistake.

How high exactly do you want to make your TT? Because believe me, there's enough scope later, just not in the initial years. It won't be as high as that for a stage racer but it won't be too low either.
And you could've just asked if you weren't sure about which rider type you wanted. Others have and I've given them clues as to which one will suit their bio.
I can see you want to continue in the game and would prefer to take a different rider type, so I will make an exception this one time. Feel free to continue as a climber given the new information that I've provided or make a new rider. Please make a fresh post if you do the latter.

To be clear, i'm not moaning about things being unfair or bad. Just that if you are going to be restrictive in what you can do with stats, you need to be pretty open with how everyting works. It's kind of weird but the more open a system, the more vague you can be about it, however if it's strict you need to give more detail. My issue was making decisions without relevant information.
I appreciate being able to change around, and it will keep me interested in the game

The update here is for Hinault and his changed specialization. The others can continue with the previous version.

Two new classics have been added to the calendar, a flat classified course with plenty of elevation changes in Wartburg, South Africa and a hilly course with cobbles on the downhill in Bogota, Columbia. I dropped the idea of having a classic in Asia as the continent already has two races while SA and Africa had one each.
Profiles should be up by the end of this weekend followed by race selections.

I'm yet to receive the stat upgrades for the following four riders:
Wesley Jensen
Akos Molnár
Irfan Al-Amin
Nagy Levente
Still enough time to send them in.
I had laptop issues throughout the weekend so I couldn't upload the calendar screenshots. I'll try to upload them over the next couple of days. That will be followed by Race Selection.
There will be a deadline for everything announced soon.

About that rider I wanted to add...
Name: Levi De Groot
Nationality: Netherlands
Specialization: Roleur
Favourite Team: LottoNL
Career Goal: Lead-out a sprinter to victory at Champs Elysess and the World Championships.
Height: 188 cm
Weight: 82 kg
Birthday: 22-02-1998
Born in the capital city of Amsterdam, Levi has never known life away from his country's capital. From an early age, his favourite toy and his favourite activity involved his bike. He would go out on long rides with his friends in the outskirts of his hometown, leaving in the morning and returning after sundown. Growing up, he was very competitive, and was always up for a race whenever anyone mentioned it. The high-speed finishes of sprints or he huge effort of major climbs did not interest him. He felt at home in the pack, leading them through bumps and feeling the wind in his hair. He could ride well in the wind, and never felt the need to 'hide' in the pack. Many a times, in races for his local club, he would be successful in setting a high pace and dropping riders from the back, especially on windy days. He was also often tasked with leading out the team's sprinters, when the team did not have enough support for the latter. He loved the freedom his role gave him, often going away on lone attacks at the start of races, knowing fully well that he might get caught later, but enjoying the suspense and the tiny chance of surviving with relish. He is now ready to take the next step into professional cycling and has already signed a contract with Team Sunweb for the coming season in the RTG. The perfect team player (because HE IS GROOT) finds the perfect team to start off his professional life.

HE IS GROOT! Probably a fitting but still very modest career goal. I'll keep my fingers crossed that one day he'll dare a late attack and beat the sprinters on the Champs Elysess or to the WC title! You have my blessing to intervene once in your career with a manual attack to make it happen!

Not that I've been able to do that in PCM yet, but I can try here I guess

Thanks for the full calendar! Tough races, maybe chances to make it into the breakaway on mountain stages - or chances to miss the time cut. |

As Ripley mentioned, the full calendar is now available in the Calendar and Results thread.
This means that it's time to share the Race Selection file. This is the last piece of input you need to give for your riders to be ready for the 2017 season.
Link: https://www.dropb....xlsx?dl=0
- Download the file from the above location.
- Enter your rider's ID in cell I2 in 'Calendar' sheet. All cells marked #N/A will be populated. Please check if the populated details are correct. All riders are less than 24 years old and should have 60 RDs available.
- You can look up your rider's ID in 'Custom Riders DB' sheet. You can ignore the stats in this sheet as it still has the base stats.
- Select the number of training blocks you want your rider to attend and enter a value between 1 and 3 in cell M2 (this is not mandatory). Each training block costs 5 RDs but gives guaranteed points as specified in the Points file. A maximum of 15 RDs can be spent on training.
- Clashing races are marked with an 'X' in column E.
- Enter '1' in cells F2-F47 for the races you want to participate in.
- The sheet will not allow you to enter in two clashing races (there are no cases where more than two races clash). It will throw an error popup.
- Cell I10 will tell you the number of RDs you have remaining. It will turn red if you enter more races than your RDs allow. It has to be zero or a positive number.
- Once you are satisfied, copy cells F2-F47 and send them to me in a table via PM. Also send me the value in cell M2 (number of training blocks).
As always, please feel free to ask in case of doubts or clarifications either here or via PM.
Further, I hope to close sign-ups and wrap everything up by the end of this month. The tentative deadline for everything is 30th June.
I'm yet to receive stat upgrades from three riders:
Wesley Jensen
Akos Molnar
Irfan Al-Amin
Please also send in those before the above mentioned deadline.

I think I have a question that you haven't covered: Can we expect teams to send the best riders to the most prestigious races or are they looking to maximise their points like we (some of us) do in ICL and MG?

Yes, good question. Teams will send their best riders to the prestigious races while the 'smaller' races will see lower ranked riders attending. I'll try to make the startlists as realistic as possible.
Also updated download link. Earlier file an error, so was in the process of replacing it.

Can't put a value greater than 1 into M2 (Training Blocks)
It won't let me put 1 into F7 (Tropicale Bongo race), and i know it's not a clash because i've not put in any other races and it gives the error
Same for F40 (Bretagne Classic)
