We wont kid ourselves here. With Sanches not in shape our chances here are limited. If there is an attack on the Poggio he will try to follow it, but at medium condition, we should really hope for Koldo Fernandez and a sprint finish.
On the Passo di Turchino kirchen breaks away. He's joined by a few others and they set out on a gruelling task!
Rabobak lead the peleton through the pass.
With 70km to go it's Hammond, Kirchen, Rast & Moletta in front. But it's never going to last. The peleton is coming quick.
And as we come upon the La Cipressa it's all sqaure. Sanchez has moved himself to the front to be ready to counter anyone who goes.
And it's Rebellin, Gilbert and Voigt who goes. Sanchez' relatively poor form foesn't allow him to sit with the superstar puncheurs and he ends up in limbo between the pack and the fron riders. Now it's going to be up to Koldo Fernandez! The sprinterteams are working hard!
But our last chance of getting ourselves any sort of result go down the drain as Fernandez front wheel malfunctions! He's flies over the handlebars and takes a face-first-dive into the asphalt.
At the top of the Poggio Rebellin has a 1 minute lead on Gilbert, who in turn leads Jens voigt by 10 seconds. 14km to go for Rebellin!
We've got no luck at all today as Sebastian Rosseler crashes on the descent and brings down Landaluze. Landaluze looks to be in pain!
Rebellin comes within range of the final stretch. And as he rounds the first corner he can glance over his shoulder and breathe easy. He's won the Milano-Sanremo 2008!
And he celebrates all the way in! Rebellin was untouchable today! Gilbert will finish 2nd and Jens Voigt in 3rd.

Managers reaction
Not a evry good day for us. 2 crashes, 1 being our top sprinter and the other being an in-shape all rounder who managed to pick up an injury. This is one of those races you'd rather forget about! |

I dont crop the inrace-screens by choice. This way you can all see what i'm doing with the riders. Also, the inrace profile is handy to let readers see the situation for themselves. I can do a poll though. If the majority wants me to crop them i will |

We like this race for it's TT/Mountainfinish combination. But since we dont want to tire Astarloza too much and Zubeldia is still recovering from his injury. We have't got an in-form captain for this. Sanchez will ride as captain, but we're not expecting much. So we'll use it for him, Anton and Egoi Martinez to gain some racedays. With a little luck, we might be able to do something in the mountainstage.
Sanchez is out on the 10km route. However, he's not feeling good and takes a 35 second loss to Ruben Plaza.
Luis Leon Sanchez of Caisse is really going fast today! He manages to take 10 seconds of Ruben Plaza's time to slide into 1st.
But look at this. Marco Velo from Milram does it a few 10ths of a second faster than LL. Sanchez. He'll be in the leaders jersey tomorrow! 10'49 was his time, setting back our best Rider(Martinez) 40 seconds

Yeah, i had hoped for more from Sanchez and Martinez. But with nobody in shape, and nobody really strong in a TT. It was expected It's ok, the race serves us well in adding racedays to their accounts. |

Stage 2 - Vuelta a Castilla y Leon
Flat stage today. Ruben Perez is our fastest man in the squad for this race. And he can climb a little too. Juan Oroz tried to follow the breakaway today but he wasn't strong enough. It ended up with him riding alone and admiring the scenery.
20km out it's all sqaure. Ruben Pere positions himself at the front.
He's found the wheel of Roderiguez of Rock Racing. Angel Vicioso of LA-MSS opens the sprint early!
And wins in style. Powerful sprint by Vicioso. Perez doesn't manage to hang on to the wheel of Rodriguez and ends up outside the top10.

Just a thought: have you thought of getting rid of the circles below the riders? it's the first thing I always do just after the stage finishes loading.

Before anyone says that a portuguese team must be doped in order to win, I would just like to say that it is true and this team is not racing anymore because the whole team was caught with doping products.

Luck
I think Perez shot is the last stage which is a hilly stage. The sprinters are too strong but he might be able to do well in a break. |
