Great racing!
Valverde is a classy rider, and with his exceptional "power-attack" when he joined the 4 leaders he gave himself a position he couldn't lose. CSC did everything right until the last kms. Frank should definitely have attacked in the finale. Rebellin should probably have done something too there, because beating Valverde in a sprint is more or less impossible in such situation.
Pfannberger is the one who has surprised me the most in this hilly week. Top 10 places in all 3 races, which is very good. I knew he was a good rider since he has done good results in Italian classics, but it's something else to ride AGR, FW and LBL and do this well. |

I'm not sure why Frank didn't attack in the last km. The road was flat enough that Valverde was favourite.
But fair play to Valverde, he played it absolutely perfectly. He blocked in Schleck, then made sure he was up front as the road flattened, and just powered home.

Fränk Schleck is the new Boogerd. It doesn't matter what he does, he'll never win a classic again. It has nothing to do with tactics, I understand that now. It's simply the bad luck of having a weak sprint.
If he attacks, they hang on and beat him in the sprint and he might have finished 2nd instead of 3rd.
If he doesn't attack, he finishes with the strongest but still gets beaten in the sprint.
Same problem as Boogerd, after his first win they never let him go again, because all the fast guys now. You just have to follow Schleck, and then you win. Again, same problem as Boogerd had his entire career since winning AGR 99.
Poor Schleck, he will get many many many many 2nd and 3rd places in AGR/LBL/Lombardy |

I fear you'll be rigth... Schleck was the strongest riders this week IMO, but the difference was too small to get away. the tactics where perfect with sending his brother away but still it didnt work... |

Dekker from NOWHERE
What the fuck, how the HELL did he end up in the group Evans. The pack was 1'10 behind
Dekker seems to have same problem has me few years back..in PCM game..never in the right place..or i was drinking at this moment when leaders atacked..etc..etc.
About Ruben F.Schleck story..he is correct. This is always this way..has some young future star flashes once..after that he is marked man and much harder to shine. As after he brother A.Schleck good ride on the Giro..he got lot of fans..and he is under pressure..more..more. But it will be much ,much harder.

about Dekker: in the newspaper he said he wasn't feeling too well in his stomach, and he had problems with keeping his food inside. thats why we kept quiet when the attacks came. later on, that feeling dissappeared and he made his jump, not having done anything yet while the others had raced hard for a while allready so it makes sense he catches up. too bad he just couldnt reach pfannberger, because then he'd have 3 5th places this week |

is it me or does it seem like Dekker has an excuse everytime he ends in the top 10 but doesnt win?

what seems more and more apparent every time I re-watch it is that Valverde was clinging on for dear life in penultimate climb. If there was another hard climb, It'd be between Schleck and RebellÃn.

Basque Tour: "Contador is simply stronger"

LBL: "Didn't have a good day"
So...where is the excuse? |
