Most riders had a bad day today, which often occurs after a rest day when a tour hits the mountains. Froome rode to his potential and is well worth his 83 but as said above people need to remember that Contador rode the Giro which in cycling these days seriously tends to tire them for the tour, the days when Indurain would do the Giro and Tour double in one season are long gone.
I even remember Lemond at his best saying that he thought riding the first two weeks of the Giro the perfect training for the Tour because completing the race would drain all reserves for the Tour.
Sky bots rode to their best and the French are having a terrible tour despite winning a stage but I wouldn't make any drastic stat adjustments for mtn stats just yet as we have a whole load of mtn days left. |

So, can we put Thomas 80 on cobbles and 81 on mountains? |

Nah, I think 79 flat, 80 recovery, 79 resistance and 80 TT will make up for him only getting 80 mountains |

Sure as heck you can put Landa > Contador in the Giro. Regardless of the team or whatever argument, Landa was just clearly the best climber in the race once he was unleashed.
Because he could rest until then. And because he had a team around him. And because Contador planned the double. He didn't peak at the Giro solely, because he needed to peak at the Tour as well.
Landa could rest? Lulz. He had to pedal as much as Conta. And no, Landa didnt have any team around him, Aru had. If Landa was let go earlier and more often, he would have won, but sadly they devoted everything for Aru, even Landa at several occasions.
Its true he didnt peak for the Giro, tho.
I agree Landa would have won if he was leader because he was much more stronger than contador and he managed to finish 3rd while working a lot for Aru, such a shame that Aru was the leader of this year giro for Astana we would have a proper look at Landa strength of he was leading the team.
Remember that both Aru and Landa attacked Conta, Conta can't respond to every attack and had eventually let one of them go, especially Landa considering he was a bit behind in the GC. Even if Aru had the team behind him, the team working for Aru helped tiring out Contador as well. And no way on earth Landa deserve the same mnt stat as Conta or higher. Conta won the Vuelta last year. He won the Giro this year (with a dislocated shoulder), now you people want to downgrade him? this year he fucked up by trying the double, if he followed his training schedule and objectives from last year he would've dominated cycling like he did last year.

Imo people here just underestimated Contador's. When Pistolero ends his career, then we all understand, how good he was in GT. |

In 2014 contador didn't decimated the field in Vuelta but Froome is already decimating contador already leading by over 4min that's a real demonstration of power right there and unless there's s crash or mechanical problem froome is the winner.
"contador" & "Froome" I don't have to respond you, but I do. Decimate ? Who won Vuelta '14 ? Contador. Who was better in mountains ? Contador. Who did beat "the invincible" Froome ? Contador.
I won't even respond to that cuz you're being a joke right now |

Come on guys. Calm down.
Clearly Conta was better last year, but Froome clearly wasn't on top form then. Now, Froome has the form advantage. For me they are almost even, with Froome being 1 MO higher, but thats my opinion.
No reason to behave so childish. Its only opinions. Only the riders know, who is better.

There's been so many problems this tour for the big riders. Contador really shouldn't have ridden the Giro if he wanted to win the Tour or maybe he just felt that the Giro was easier to win, I think he's retiring next year anyway?
By and large I'm still not changing the mtn stats on a lot of the top riders unless something drastic happens in the Alps. Even as things stand with his Sky team Froome is still the best GT rider in the game.
If Froome is moved he could go to 84 or kept at 83 and some of the other riders moved down, it really just depends on how brutal we want Foome to be. |

Well, he rode on Froome's wheel until the last km of the climb and then he attacked. Froome, instead, attacks/drops the opponents with several km of the climb left. Also don't forget that Froome had at least 2 stages in Vuelta 2014 where he was better than Contador.
And regarding Landa, he also had to work a lot for Aru. |

In conclusion: all cyclist are better than Contador, but he won 9 GTs. Contador is just luckiest man in this world |

Contador is the best GT rider of his generation on a year by year basis, but even greats have bad tours. |

OMG how did you guys get here.... Landa better than Contador-are you fuckin kidding me?!! Wait until the end of the Tour before making judgments, OK? Until then keep the friendly tone. As far as I can see Pistolero is getting better while the others are getting more tired, so I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to gain some time back. Can he win? Doubt it. But if Froome leaves him even half a chance, Bertie will be there to take it as he has proven he's the smartest racer in the peleton throughout the years. |

Maybe in the Giro and the Vuelta, where the opponent not has the same class or show up unprepared after an unlucky season. Just as Europe league in football.
Froome = FC Barcelona
Contador = Sevilla FC |
