So Poels got some marginal gains now as well.
Am I blind or is Nibali dropped?

Poels looked effortless when he passed Caruso on the end of the climb. Flawless decsent then.
Nibali dropped...

Yeah, looked like it. At least in the first group of chasers, when it was still fairly small, he wasn't in it. Later more riders reconnected but he was only seen at the finish then, coming in with another group.

Awesome timed attack by Poels and great descent. Well deserved, hope he can surprise tomorrow and keep the jersey! |

Hmm, ok. He will probably show signs of shape by the ardennes, hide for a few months more and show up 100% at the Tour like last year then.
Poels is such a weird rider. I remember him winning an impressive Pais Vasco stage last year and pacing Urán and Quintana up Zoncolan and then just vanish for the rest of the year. He really lacks consistency, but when he feels it he feels it. Wouldnt surprise me if Sky translates him into a GC-rider now. |

Lol! Marc Coucke (Omega Pharma boss) congratulated "Etixx rider" Poels with his win, then realized his mistake and corrected it by deleting the tweet and congratulating Uran on his 2nd place. =D |

Well even that, he is not far off. And with the right training and starting a GT as leader and a big team behind him, I see no issues with him reaching a top5-10. In especially for Vuelta or eventually Giro.
Would at least not call it Sky-Transformation then.

Top40 in Vuelta and 21st in Giro last year. 28th in TDF 2013. 17th Vuelta 2011. Seems like a solid GT rider already to me

Riis he's had a lot of bad luck due to bad falls. Especially the one in the Tour, so his GT ambitions were never made true.
He has enormous talent though, too bad he's gonna be riding for Froome.exe this season. |

If we are talking top-10 in Giro/Vuelta, you are right which also kinda is my point |

TMM: Those are fine results, but not more than that. As I said he chooses he spots where he is able to climb with the best, but then doesnt really show up other times. I also seem to remember him doing that on Angliru, so he clearly has the potential. My point simply was that i wouldnt be surprised to see him in top-10 more regularly in big races now that he races on Sky.
Timo: Yes, he has great talent, otherwise you wouldnt be able to do what he did today. But as I said before, he lacks consistency (i doubt thats only a result of being unlcuky).. |
