Top 8 for Nerz? I think he is pretty mediocre and didnt take a step last year really, would even be surprised to see him crack the top-15. There are just that many much better riders than him who attends this year.
I also see him more around 15th to be honest.
But I did not expect König to top8 last season neither.
Nerz had two nice Vuelta GC`s and never started as leader. So he had to get bottles or even drop off the peloton during the first 1-2 weeks before he was able to go for himself in the third week. Having a clear leader role now, could change this obviously. I can`t really judge him as he did not have a lot of freedom so far in his career.
Bora-Argon18 actually aims for Top 10, wtf

Please bake some smaller cakes I'd say. For now I think it should be enough to give german mainstream-cycling viewers enough incentive to watch mountain stages. Get some hype going for them with Nerz. So, let's build up on that. No way though Nerz will finish Top 10 in the Tour this year. Maybe in 2-3 years though, but current youngsters like Herklotz are maybe a saver bet to make it big in the GC business in the coming years?

Lol Bretagne will be so useless, like last year.
Idk, between Fedrigo, Feillu, Hivert and Hutarovich there's a decent chance of some sort of stage result. Plus whatever team they take will most definalty be out on the attack. Teams better than last year.
Nah mate, to me that line up still pretty much sucks. Not worthy of Tour de France even in the slightest. Unfortunately.

Well as you pointed out there isn't exactly any team who could outdo them quality wise. And taking Topsport for one stage, might as well take Bretagne for Fedrigo to attack one day in the mountains.
Anyway i guess we'll see come July how much of an impact they make. I'm guessing more than one of the WT teams and i'm going to say a stage win as well.

A stage win for Bretagne, what? As you wish. Imma gonna quote you on that.
i imagine Topsport, Caja Rural, Roompot are all not really TdF quality but they are better than boring old Bretagne. If Colombia would focus on TdF rather than on Giro, they'd be my pick Euskaltel replacement pick.

They should realize that Nerz is not König, but hey, maybe he will step up with full leadership role and top15 is pretty legit as i see it.

Imo Nerz is a lot underrated. That said I think a GT top 10 is only possible in the Vuelta right now. But 12th-15th in the Tour surely is possible and would be a nice success for German cycling already.
@Shonak: Herklotz is overrated imo. At least when it comes to future GT racing. I think he will more focus on shorter stage races and one day classics and less mountains and more hills. But we will see in some years time I guess.
Regarding Dowsett`s hour attempt:

I dont see how he is that underrated (or underrated at all), he simply doesnt have the results to back a top-10 up with. Lets see how he fares in the season, should probably be easier to know what to expect in Tour de France..
Btw, gosh I would love to see Columbia instead of Bretagne this year as well. Just realized how cool it would be to watch them in the mountains making impossible attacks all day.

Fedrigo has won stages on the Tour in the past, he could do it again.
Prudhomme explained yesterday that ASO liked the fact that Bretagne Seche "showed" the jersey last year, by going on the attack every day. That's one of the reasons they were selected.
They have some decent, if unspectacular riders, and they're a French team, so will always have a better chance of being selected. |

The official pre-race press conference held in a very relaxed atmosphere had an absolutely unpredictable turn, though, as Cavendish shocked journalists with his sharp riposte while asked whether he is 100 percent certain if all professional riders are currently clean..
“Can you tell me 100 percent that one of these journalists isn’t f**king your wife?” Cavendish responded, quick-witted as always.
“Where there’s money to be gained, there’ll be the odd dickhead who cheats but cycling is miles ahead of other sports when it comes to testing,” he explained. “I hope everyone’s correct but with human nature, you can never be certain. But the positive that I can take is that if someone is cheating, he will be caught.”

Not sure 'bout the last sentence, but anyways: Nice one, Cav! Great answer to such a stupid question.

The question was stupid in the way it was asked but Cav's first sentence lacks class (no surprise I guess ) The "Journo" could of framed it differently but I doubt Cav would of answered it any differently as the rest of his response is fairly stock standard. I have trouble with the last part as well, we can be certain that there is still widespread doping in cycling but testing will miss most of it.

Stuart O'Grady spewing his BS once again
https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ograd...d-didnt-do
He still expects people to believe he doped once(EPO) 2 weeks prior to the 98 TDF and was clean before and after, he was a track rider who could sit on the front of the peloton on mountain stages whilst better climbers would get dropped. He wasn't only keeping up with known career dopers but was beating them on regular occasions. If he was smart he would of just shut up after his "confession" and faded away but poor hard done by Stuey hasn't, it will come out!

I call bulls*t on the Ulissi decision. 9 month backdated scentece, free to race again in March. But i don't speak Italian so i can't read the Gazzetta article that gives the details https://www.gazzetta.it/Ciclismo/19-01...1876.shtml

A lot of his later obviously doped performances are still within the time period in which legal authorities can do something about it and I am willing to bet that if he has aspirations of being a DS or something like that then he will still want to go to France/Italy/other countries that might ban or arrest him.

Southeast is the former Yellow Fluo / Neri Sottoli, not that this fact should've earned them a wildcard |
