I think there were more boring stages. Lets say stage 3 was worse but checking out London was nice.
I don't think its wise move Astana to let Gallopin just like that. Hes not a no name.

So Tony fulfills the promise he gave us in Spain. Good win by him, bad stage. Guess some guys like BMC duo wern't allowed to race with Rolland being in the group. Still, Rolland moves back into GC contention in typical Rolland-manner (- lol, someone said Rolland is no GC guy two days ago, ha!). It's also cool to see Gallopin take yellow and a bit of good tv time for Lotto but they are likely to lose it tomorrow anywayz, hope he enjoys his spell in yellow. Maybe he lasts longer than I'd give him time.

Tony Martin was unbelievable today.... 170kms basically alone mostly doing all the work and still nobody can get near him. Even when they all started riding full power. How is this possible? |

I seriously hate that they skip the podium and interview with stage winner on Eurosport for that Bernabino on tour show. Gotta download Sporza coverage as usual every night. |

To have betted against him taking a 4th place in the TdF, this was a pleasant surprise

Rolland too, doing what he does best - gaining time where others want to take rest. He's one second ahead of Bertie in GC now.
lol Machado, third GC now. Think I said it before, guy was riding mostly incognito , doing nothing, giving others work but gained the most next to Gallopin. Great result for NetApp though, especially considering that they announce their new sponsor on tuesday.

Everyone seems to forget Machado whom jumped to 3rd GC. That is very impressive, especially as he have König as a monster helper in the next stage, to see what he can achieve.

Was it because it was boring or what?
Yep, and because I didn't understand any of the riding today
I said it in a different stage thread and was told how wrong I was but the big teams were all saving it for tomorrow. Guess I know a little more than some of the heros around here. |

That is obvious, but mainly the 2nd group and Europcar in there were doing bs things. They should've just worked together, you know you can't let Martin go. Yet nobody does anything because they are afraid others are going to profit from it. |

I just can't wrap my head around 20 guys not being able to catch 1 guy over 100 km. Jesus christ Europcar you really dropped the ball today.

Same here, annoying as fuck imo. But that's cycling sometimes, Martin was extremely strong and deserved it ofcourse, but the 20 chickens behind him were just idiots. |

Sure he deserved it, but for the sake of entertainment, I would rather see the break catch up to De Marchi and Martin. We could have had a sick stage if it was all together going up the Cat 1 and 3.

Tony said on facebook that he was initially dissapointed by only 1 ITT in the parcours so he organised his own TT |

Just been sitting on my Ipad and followed the discussion in here during the stage, but here are my few cents:
Some of you critizised Europcar's riding which I simply dont get. First of all, getting 5 men in a break in itself is a achivement on a stage like this were everyone wants to get out there. Secondly, it got kinda obvious from the foot of Markstein that their focus wasnt the stage, but the GC - partly due to Tony Martin being a massive beast, partly due to the 20 last km's where Rolland needed a sizeable gap on a not-so-hard-climb. He got 5-6 mins (?) on the overall GC and is right back at it after a hard first week. Fantastic ride today, when you cant take the stage, you gotta take whats left and they certainly did that today.
Secondly, I dont get why some ppl think this has been the most boring stage so far. Sure, some parts of it was rather dull, but I enjoyed Machado, Europcar and Gallopin's fight for minutes and the yellow jersey. I know some experts, commentators etc. always wanna make the stage more interesting than it is, but really, what did you expect more than this? One of the hardest stages awaits tomorrow, no reason at all for Saxo, Movistar, Sky or whatever suddenly begin to ride up the Markstein for some reason. Also, it was fantastic to see Tony getting the job done in such a manner, that guy is a beast.
Thirdly, I get why ppl critisized the ppl in the break, but when 3 riders from Europcar are riding the absolute best they are able to and yet cant lower the gap, its done. Some of the best climbers wanted to force things up Markstein, but halfway up the climb Martin had 3 minutes - they were smart enough to realize that. Sure, they were passive, but that was due to them being boring or whatever, but due to beasting it. Hats off!
Just my few cents on a stage that I enjoyed. |

Yeah, shame about that, that could be his best chance to win me and others that 4th place bet.
Panzerwagen did it again, great rider.
Gallopin is ok climber, but not top10 material at all, so no problem for anyone of the favourites...
