I have no problem with riders losing time on this terrain. Again: I like the inclusion of cobbles. What I don't like is an unnecessary level of risk that would come from forcing riders to go on narrow cobbled roads that are partially flooded. That is a recipe for disaster.
You say you don't care if they lose their race due to a lack of skill or luck. I do not understand how you can say that about professional athletes who you presumably enjoy watching. This is their livelihood. This is how they support their families. To say you don't care if they hurt themselves in a situation that is completely avoidable solely because you want the spectacle of seeing them do it is completely sadistic.
That is all I am trying to say. Just have some empathy.

Oh and rain during the sprint classics is not comparable to rain in July. The former comes when specialists on this terrain are riding. The latter comes when non specialists are forcing their way to the front of the group to avoid losing time. That adds an even larger element of difficulty and danger to events.

Well, Astana & Nibbles look like they mean business today.

And I'm saying that conditions ain't that bad and we've become too soft. Also I have empathy. For example, if road would be icy, it would be a whole different story and I would be totally for excluding necessary road/s. Plus to me conditions were more dangerous during this year's Gavia stage rather than today. |

Cobbles are a part of cycling. Rain is a part of cycling. Therefore, wet cobblestones are a normal thing and should not be avoided.
I agree I would hate to see people crashing out, but it can happen on other places as well. People should be losing time on these cobbles, but with this attitude, they could've just made it another boring flat stage.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

This. We need more diversification. It's almost that in Tour we almost always have two races: one of sprinters and other for GC riders. Every stage (well, maybe not every) needs to play significance in GC, so that those totally one dimensional GC riders should work on becoming more versatile and it wouldn't just be about who can have more W/kg. |

Where does it say that Tour de France is a race for climbers only?
Cobbles are in France, this is a race around France which is why we got Alps and Pyrenees, Cobbles belong to it too.
Sit back and enjoy the race. |

How can I enjoy it after they have removed the most interesting parts. |

Most certainly not.
Think I spotted Casual Purito dropped, still not giving a single stretch and riding like training. Very pleased with that (Vuelta prep and so). No Ninja clothes for him today though.

Simply don't watch it then. You can't change that decision, anyways.
