Yep, definitely Lobato who finished second there. J.J Rojas provisionally came ninth in the end. If J.J Lobato had been better positioned god only knows whether he might have given Cavendish a challenge.

Sagan will have a hard time getting Points this year. His sprinting has lost something this year.
Giant..
Not sure what you would expect from him. He was never beating Cavendish on regular basis and he was first to launch his sprint also being without teammates in last kilometres. Nobody bar cav and storming Lobato did not overtake him on couple hundred meters. I think his sprint is the same he was last year. 3rd-5th places is all he needs in Tour flat stages anyway, as he will rack it up in harder ones...

If you watch the sprint closely he just got really badly blocked. Bit unfortunate, but its the price you pay when the team now can't be bothered giving you a lead out.
Wow. I'm pretty pissed at Giant.
Someone should've realized Degenkolb was boxed in since 2k to go and reorganized that thing. I can't believe none of the three riders in the train actually checked if they were riding for him or actually against him
Especially as Cav looked very well beatable with that very slow acceleration. Sagan isn't a benchmark to what Degenkolb could achieve anymore, so that was a win chance thrown away the worst possible way.

Blimey what's with everyone being in harsh mode today - Sagan isn't the sprinter he was after finishing 3rd in a full on bunch gallop and Cavendish shows slow acceleration after putting over a bike length into everyone in 100 metres in a headwind?!
Certainly it's a shame Degenkolb didn't get to go head to head though.

Well, maybe Degenkolb should not rely on his lead-out so much. That man you rated as no benchmark to what Degenkolb can achieve was alone and still found a perfect place to be at.
I think you are overrating Gegenkolb as flat sprinter, he is second league at best.
And Cav with slow acceleration? Yeah...
