Same happens for me. And it's mostly random.

Random for me too but mainly when the stage is loading. So far I have had them on stage 3 and 21 of the TDF and stage 4 of STDU.

Actually, it may not be that random. The same crashes happened on the same stages of TDU in the same moments (while loading). What DB are you using?

Pack CyMSpain 2014 - V1, I do get a message when I start a career or stage race saying the DB is not verified or something along those lines.

Sometimes when I load a stage I get black like blocks where the stats and riders are supposed to be and then the game crashes.

Don't worry about that. This was added in patch 2. It should raise the awareness that Cyanide is not responsible for problems which come from the database you are using.
But if you have problems with stages, which came with the DB you are using, then you should contact the DB makers. A crash during the loading of a stage could be because a missing file. |

I'm going to download another DB to be sure, any recommendations?
Tried Focus DB ans 2 crashes already, one trying to load stage 1 and during stage 1.

After starting a career first, I decided to make some tests instead and simulated through the season to check the new transfer stuff and so on.
I used the PCM Focus DB and had good experience until I started to simulate. Also the simulated results were fine.
The Youth talents were very nice as well. Some riders, that might be good to go in their neo pro season in smaller WT races, others that need to develop first.
The Tour was won by Froome ahead of Contador and Valverde with Cav taking the green and Sagan the KoM jersey.
Giro: Quintana, Nibali, Porte with Kittel green and Quintana KoM.
Vuelta: Valverde with 11 stage wins and GC and points! Anton 2nd VdB 3rd. Moreno KoM. In general the Vuelta was the weakest of the 3 GT`s.
The cobbled classics were mainly fought between Boonen, Cancellara and Degenkolb with Boonen taking the big classics mainly.
Sagan MSR, Gerrans LBL, D Martin Lombardia, Boom WC, Martin WC ITT.
Transfers were okay.
T.Martin -> Giant Shimano
Spilak -> BMC
Zoidl -> Belkin
Bardet -> Garmin
Hesjedal -> Katusha
Terpstra -> Lampre
J Rodriguez -> Movistar
Van Avermaet -> OPQS
Bouhanni -> OPQS
Gerrans -> Sky
Poels -> Sky
Pirazzi -> Sky
Henao -> Saxo
Kreuziger -> Trek
Van Garderen -> Trek
AND
Andy Schleck -> T Palm Pole Continental
Frank Schleck -> Retire
So Trek with a great transfer period I would say.
FDJ and Orica went down. NetApp and Bardiani up.
Demare, Pinot stayed with FDJ, Orica now around the Yates brothers, Matthews, Chavez and incoming Battaglin.
I played with 0.5 development and saw some surprises:
Biggest improvement might have been Barguil: 77mo/76hi -> 82mo/76hi!
Moreno with 83 best puncheur now.
T Martin still best time trialist but Dumoulin is closing the gap. Nice to see both with Giant.
Cobbles close as never with 6x 82 as best with younger Stybar, Vanmarcke, Thomas, Degenkolb coming closer.
Sprint is all about Giant. Kittel reached the 85 sprint and Mezgec jumped from 79 -> 83 and is one of hte best now.
Also Nizzolo, Oss!, Markus, Bouhanni, Modolo, Viviani will soon reach the Greipel/Cav area.
Not sure if the fact that I was Giant Shimano made those two big jumps for Mezgec and Barguil. On the other hand I think other teams had some jumps as well such as Oss, Chavez (79mo), Markus etc. |

So, I came up with an interesting and weird challenge for myself, using the (edited) FDB.
Team Globalisation
Spoiler Jersey by Dippofix:
PT team.
Rules:
- Max. 1 rider per country
- Min. 1 rider per continent
- No renewing for anyone else than Kelderman.
Here's the team:
Ulissi will be going for Ardennes - Giro - World, while Kelderman does a Giro - Vuelta. Nieve goes for Tour - Vuelta.
From the big countries, only USA and Belgium will have a free spot next year(Vandenbergh and Farrar have a contract until '14), but not a lot of strong Belgians and Americans are available for next year, sadly enough.
Thome is an incredible talent, here's his potential:

Nice talent, I also set myself a similar challenge, only one from each country, but instead of 1 per continent, which ended up happening anyway, I also had only signing riders scouted by me. I did renew contracts though. I am interested to see how things go for you. |

Got a really nice talent in my career. Unfortunately it`s only a test career, where I simulate through a few seasons. But surely you could have lots of fun with him in future years.
Looks like a small version of Sagan, who could develop into a better sprinter but weaker puncheur/cobbler.

Do the routes for the GT's change? And how many variations exist, if they change?

yes they change, well some do, I can't remember how many variants there are, or for what races on the original DB but go on single player and go to the Tour De France and you can flick through the different variants for it. It's the same for any other race that has them.
DB's usually come with more, which you'd have to check each DB to see how many it includes. Or you download others from the stage database or from stage makers threads in the relevant forum.
Also Oleg has released the stage pack that goes with his A.S.O. DB early so you can download that here and it includes a lot more and tells you which WT Variants it includes.

How do breakaways look in PCM 14? One thing I really disliked on PCM 13 was that the breakaways rarely had more than 5 riders but still succeeded way more than they should, particularly in the grand tours. Any impressions? |

After being disappointed by the following in 2013:
Broken happiness of riders
Very dodgy season planning
weird goals for riders
unlogical sponsor goals
Always unbalanced time trials, either AI is way too slow compared to player, or other way around
Would you say I will be happier in 2014? I did not play 2013 more then a handful of hours because of these issues.
I enjoy playing small teams and the season planning for these was ridiculous. |

The season planning, rider goals, sponsor goald and time trials have not been changed, as far as I know.
But I am not sure which problems you have with the planning of the team and the riders. This can be done by you, so if you do it correctly, there is no problem at all. |

Maybe he means the sort of thing where a promising young rider would hate riding the Tour de France, which doesn't make sense. |
