I've read he wants to build a team with talents (Which Belkin obviously has) with experienced riders to be their mentors. If he can get the team Garate could possibly stay aswell, being the start of making a Spanish core for the team.
Would seem like a solid plan for him to enter the world of cycling...

that CEO of Belkin is a freaking genius
step 1: get involved with a cycling team as lead sponsor at a discount price
step 2: get known in main area of said cycling team
step 3: profit
step 4: let the contract run out when the discount goes away
Brilliant plan
edit: Kelderman to Orica more likely now

Shut up! Kelderman has to stay in a Dutch team!
so Kelderman to Giant confirmed
Meh, would be better but I still like Belkin to stay a Dutch team. Giant is more a sprinter's team, not really suited for Kelderman. Although he would be leader in GT's, but he is that aswell at belkin.
Alonso didn't buy Euskaltel, why would he want to buy Belkin now? He wants something of his own.
I'd prefer it if a dutch company took over the team, preferrably of course a long-term solution, much like Rabobank in the past. Like there always needs to be a Stark in Winterfell, there always should be a dutch team in the peloton. Giant - Shimano is more of an international team with a couple of dutch riders.
Sadly, SSJ2Luigi is quite accurate with the steps of Belkin's CEO. Maybe he expected more exposure, but just getting in for some worthwhile, cheapened publicity was smart. Now if only Rabobank would be coming back to World Elite Men Cycling, hmmm...

Don't think Rabo will come back. Let's hope there is a Dutch sponsor possible. I don't see it happening though. Wouldn't know wich one.

If a Dutch sponsor could take over it'd be great. TVM seems the most obvious Dutch sponsor to take over.

Would also prefer if a dutch team remains in cycling, its sad to see a team of your own nationality slowly vanish (Saxo for me), especially since it would make it harder for the young riders from that particular nation to get access to the World Tour unless you are very talented. Rabobank/Belkin has always been apart of the World Tour and it would be weird without team.
With that said, I would love to see another spanish team. As of now, they only have one World Tour-team and if im not mistaken, only one pro continental team. Thats not enough for Spain - when I started watching cycling they had 4 team, for example. I really hope Alonso can get going quickly, because all the prominent spanish riders are all above 30 (Sanchez, Valverde, Rodriguez, Contador) without those young guns from Spain that we have grown accustomed to seeing in the mountains.

That is bad news...Belkin and ex Rabo team had great match..and also descent year and result. I was already used with that green.
Lets hope they find new sponsor fast.

Doubt Belkin was getting a good return for there investment discounted or not, cycling is a niche sport with limited exposure outside of races like the Tour. I do hope the squad can remain together in some form and remain mostly dutch as there is such a deep heritage there but the sponsor will certainly have to be from that country or be connected to cycling in some way but I wouldn't hold my breath that this squad lasts in this form.
Kelderman has to be leaving now, his price would have gone up markedly so a new sponsor would need to front up some serious cash to hold onto him

If I understand it correctly, the main goal is to show potential sponsors the amount of loyal fans the team has. Still don't think it'd be very succesfull. Anyway you can donate €10,- if you want.
