New rules for the jerseys in the Giro d'Italia. Looks like they're following the Tour which did this a few years ago.
Giro d'Italia 2014, new regulations: improvements to bonuses at the finish and on intermediate sprints. The Maglia Rossa is now better suited to sprinters. The Maglia Azzurra is now the goal of pure climbers.

And Visconti wasn't a pure climber? Cav not a pure sprinter?

"Better suited to sprinters"
Cavendish only one with one point before Nibali (correct me if I'm wrong?)
I guess now Nibali wouldn't have a chance to come close anymore.
And, no, Visconti isn't a pure climber.

Cav won that jersey because of the cancelled mountain stage. |

Yeah, from an early break. It's not like he dropped them on the climb

Really explains a lot.
Also tells me Rabo/Belkin should have done way more in the process after Gesink's father died. That's clearly the beginning of all mental/stress problems |

Sad news about Gesink indeed. Time to take off some time off the bike and relax. Then come back me thinks.

Good God indeed. Well, Gesink's already getting on a bit-that could be him stuffed.

No Vichot in the Ardennes classics, which is a shame really.
