A Day in the Life | Sweet Delight
sutty68
Have to say that the radio presenter is one hell of an arrogant ?!?! Sad

Ian Butler
krisa - Thanks Smile

sutty68 - He sure is. But that's what makes it fun, well, for me at least Pfft

Situation still the same. I hope to recover my laptop as soon as possible. If I had to guess right now I'd say Thursday.

Actually, I was able to play during the hours he was away Grin

Hi!

Finally I was able to make my international debut! Vuelta a Murcia was the perfect way to get my name across the globe. It was also my first one day race.

Vuelta a Murcia
imageshack.us/a/img856/8916/8kzl.jpg
Life goes on. I wish I could celebrate my Haut Var victory for the rest of my life, but a cyclist can't live in the past. Always look ahead. Today features a tough, climbing profile.

Plan of the Day: We brought a strong climbing squad. We don't start with a leader and will just see how the race develops. There's me, Barguil, Meintjes, Manresa, Augustyn...

The Race
Meintjes helped us out tremendously by going in the breakaway. We could clear our minds for a while now.

imageshack.us/a/img12/2369/lgmv.jpg

Not agreeing to a tactic can turn out to be a stupid mistake. Today I must say it started going wrong when Warren (Barguil) decided to start attacking early. I had no idea and was quite behind at the moment of truth. I was just starting to move up since it was only the start of the big climb.

imageshack.us/a/img62/487/gaw7.jpg

I had to move up to the front quickly as everything started to break apart. Everyone sprinted up the mountain and it rained attacks. I'm guilty to a couple of cuss word during the climb.

imageshack.us/a/img42/7273/hne6.jpg

Once over the mountain, things started pulling together again. A front group formed. Only me and Warren were present for Citigroup.

imageshack.us/a/img62/8997/lhf2.jpg

We decided to try and keep things together until the final mountain. We both took our turn.

imageshack.us/a/img850/6753/kbuc.jpg

Everything would be decided on the final climb. Valverde and Contador, both Spaniards, worked together to create a gap.

imageshack.us/a/img202/6548/r2xk.jpg

It was time to use my absolute specialty I had in the amateur ranks: a strong finishing kilometer.

imageshack.us/a/img9/791/mo1t.jpg

And it (kind of) worked. I finish 3th, behind the two Grand Tour winners. (Just stressing that fact to say how good my race was in the end!)

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
Another great race for me! I can only repeat what I've said many times before, it's really been a dream start here at the pros, for me!

This result puts me at the top of the Continental League and 4th in CQ Points! How great is that? It won't last, but I'll be sure to enjoy it while it does!

See you tomorrow, for some racing in Swiss,
Henry

Maybe he finished behind two GT winners, but he still finished ahead of another one. Smile

sutty68 - Indeed it was, thanks Wink

krisa - Thank you!

Dippofix - Very true, hadn't noticed that Grin

Just finished Lugano. Will make the report tomorrow, though. Expect an awesome result, it was an amazing race Wink

duxili
Great day indeed! Only Contador and Valverde at home in front of you...

But Nibali, Kreuziger Sangan & co behind

Keep pushing, 3rd in GC overall would be such an achievement Wink

Looking forward to finding out what happened in Switzerland Smile

Shonak
Great race by him. Once again very smart riding and especially a strong finish. Finishing behind Valverde and Contador is actually quite a honour I think. Finishing ahead of them though would be even better of course. Grin
I suppose Henry might be closer to his Grand Tour win than any of us thought. Wink

duxili - Vualta a Murcia is actually a 1 day race Wink so he has his 3th place to take home!

sutty68 - Will be posted here tomorrow probably Smile

Shonak - I'd take a 3rd place behind those 2 any day with Henry (for now, at least) Pfft If he keeps doing this well, I see him performing top 20 on his first GT!

I hope nobody thinks this story is dead or whatever Wink
I predicted things would slow down as my internship progressed so that's what's happening now. From tomorrow to next Wednesday is my busiest period in my internship. So I can't get much else done in the meantime. I'll pick up the pace again after, though!
And I'll try to get a race or 2 in between, but I can't promise anything, though I really want to play PCM badly Pfft must...resist...temptation!

Dippofix
Don't worry, take all the time you need for your internship, we'll be waiting till Henry's back. Smile

Ian Butler
Dippofix - Thanks a lot Wink Found some time to do the report now. I might (50-50) get another report done this weekend, But Monday through Wednesday will be hellishly busy Pfft

Hello,

The second race in two days. It wasn't a nice trip from Spain to Swiss, but I feel pretty confident.

GP di Lugano
imageshack.us/a/img189/6544/3xl0.jpg
A hilly terrain, that's for sure. A start list where top 10 is definitely possible!

The Race
Citigroup is leading the Continental Rankings and we are always keen to show our strength. Both Meintjes and Manresa went into the morning break!

imageshack.us/a/img5/5616/iwsi.jpg

Well, I'm at the top of the world at the moment. My great early season racing has put me in the lead in the Europe Continental Tour. I'm wearing the leader's jersey and if it's up to me, I'll carry it all the way through the season!

Let's start by getting more points here today, maybe?

imageshack.us/a/img577/860/lauf.jpg

Attacks were expected, and attacks came. Since I had two guys in front, all I had to do was move along. I managed to do so, with some difficulty. Though two men got away from us.

imageshack.us/a/img440/663/4qvw.jpg

But we were all too late. Manresa surprised all of us and stayed out there all day long. Meintjes had totally sacrificied himself to pull it off. What an achievement!

imageshack.us/a/img46/3642/dvy0.jpg

Inspired by our team's performance, I found my second breath and started sprinting for place 4!

imageshack.us/a/img545/2504/kc00.jpg

I won the sprint! Another top 5, amazing!

Analysis & Daily Thoughts
Yes! Another win for the team and another great finish for me. I missed out on the podium but to be honest, I never expected a top 5 anyway, so 4th is great.

It gives me a small lead in the Continental Rankings and even puts me 2nd in the CQ Rankings at the moment!
The season is still a long way to go, but I'm full of good intentions and I'm up for more!

Great, another win by team and another mass-sprint win from Henry. Just keep that rhytm up, this can be one hell of the season for Mr. Vergnaud. Wink

Oups Embarassed Vuelta a Murcia is a stage race in pcm11, and I miss the 1.1... That was amazing!

Even more than the team perf in Switzerland: it might be a 1.1 as well but competition was not the same.

2nd in CQ? Continental ranking is so easy for you Banana
