I've just seen the proposed plans for 2015 onwards. Not only are they talking about having La Vuelta as a two week race but fuck the Giro as well, this will make the Tour completely untouchable! Only the last several years I've found both the Giro and Vuelta on average to be more exciting races to watch.
They also have no respect for history and tradition, especially the way that they're dismantling the Flanders season and dropping down races like Paris-Tours, Tour de Romandie and Vuelta de Pais Vasco and instead they keep the two boring Canadian races on criterium type courses and the Tour of Beijing........... really!
In fact the only thing I agree with are the rider reductions in teams, as 22 riders per team is better quality control and it's less riders for me to remember their names. |

There are japanase races everywhere in the Daily, in four separete threads now. The fact that there are no other cycling races does not make it so interesting.

Thomas De Gendt is taking his former employer to court.
He had a contract with team manager Daan Luijkx up until 2014. The team folded, but the contract stayed as it was a contract not with the team but with Daan Luijkx in person.
Cyclingnews says the contract was worth 1.1 million euros (!) per year, and that TDG is now making 1/5 of this at OPQS.
Meanwhile, TDG has had the now defunct team assets seized. This includes the team bank account and probably things like the team bus which was up for sale, and maybe some bikes. Maybe even their service center/garage. The latter would be very interesting.
The interesting thing is that if TDG is proven right in court, Luijkx has to pay him out of his own pocket. Vacansoleil's main HQ and garage are behind Luijkx's very own accountancy firm Hoendervangers & Luijkx (link: https://www.hlacco... ), in which he is a partner.
You can see the garage and (one of the locations of) the firm in front of it here: https://maps.goog...69,,0,8.06
If anything, being a successful accountant Luijkx must have the legal knowledge on board to deal with a situation like this, but it would be quite interesting to know if this personal deal with TDG would have any effect on his accountancy firm, because of the personally signed contract.

I read Santambrogio there. So he was involved into something like that before?
Well, Ballan carrer's is already practtically over since the crash. So a two year ban is probably his retirement. |

The last four statements prove that he is indeed a bot: his .exe got corrupted and repeated the last spoken sentence another 3 times

Euskadi team edges closer to survival in 2014
That'd be at least something if Euskadi survived. Crossing my fingers.

WADA making some changes for 2015.
Unless I'm reading it wrong the standard sanction will be 4 years (rather than merely having the option of up to 4 years) and the limitation period is extended from 8 to 10 years.
You can read the details yourself here https://www.ukad.org.uk/news/article/W...-2015-code

4 years, mainly because that means the sportman/woman will surely miss the next Olympics.
All in all a good rule, I reckon. A lot of sportspeople are protesting, but just stay off the dope and everything'll be all right |

4 years is quite something, compared to 2 years for example. I doubt any world-class rider or any athlete could come back to his former level in case of a ban, no matter how strong he previously was.

I've always found it abit strange that people would protest against it. What's the problem if you are clean?
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

Exactly.
Though it's probably because they're scared that they would "accidentally" test positive. Mostly that's BS but I guess in some cases it's possible (whereabouts, only tiny, tiny, tiny amount , whatever...). |

As an aisde on whereabouts it seems from 2015 they will consider the 3 strikes within a calendar year rather than 18 months as is apparently the case now. |

Tristan Hoffman gets a new contract at Saxo Bank. First they let him go, but now they've found some budget to give him a new contract.

He wrote on his Facebook that he's reached all his goals as a professional cyclist and that he's going to work for PowerWatts International. He already decided that before the QP Québec. |
