Tour de Suisse

Stage 7

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/25%20Suisse/PCM0007_zpsa52ae26d.jpg

The last stage where Thibaut could have gained some time on his main opponents, the pace was hard to follow.

We had Yoann at the front because due to the length of the stage the possibility of having a breakaway rider winning was not the smallest.

They had a quite good gap but with 30 kilometers to go it was down to 3'00.

When we heard that Nibali had fallen with 20 kilometers to go, RadioShack Sky and us set a very high pace in the pack.

Then everything went very fast, Thibaut get a flat tire but with the efforts of Jeremy and I he went back in the pack quickly. it was too late to think of a results but at list he did not lose time on the other leaders.

Peter Sagan won for the 3rd time in that race.

After the stage, Thibaut was leading the GC with 11" on Andy Schleck and 12" on Bradley Wiggins.

Stage 8

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/25%20Suisse/PCM0008_zpsdaca2f49.jpg

That was the stage that blow Thibaut's hope up, with a rider like Bradley Wiggins at 12" , it was impossible for him to keep the leadership.

I did my Time Trial quite easy, I did not put too much efforts in it saving myself for the last day. I ended 89th 3'21 after the winner.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/25%20Suisse/Stage%207%208%209/PCM0005_zpse1840c22.jpg

Bradley Wiggins made the best time in all the intermediate Time Checks. When he ended the stage, the second rider was 48" late.

It was impossible for Thibaut to beat him. He was 38" late at the 1st intermediate time check, 1'30 after the second time check and he ended with a gap of 1'54 which assured him the second position of the GC and the 20th position in the stage.

Stage 9

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/25%20Suisse/PCM0009_zps8bf42013.jpg

The last stage seemed to be designed for riders like Arnaud so we did not send anyone in the break. We had Yoann riding and pacing the pack but when we reach the final little climbs, it seemed to be like a mountain for Arnaud. He had a good recuperation after each climb but it was not enough for him to enter the top 10 in the end contrary to Thibaut who took the 7th position.

It's Peter Sagan that won the last stage of a great race for the team.

That's for that race, I had a great time in Switzerland. The team did well and it was way above the expectation of Marc.
I will now race the Halle - Ingooigem but before I'll post you the results of the Critérium du Dauphiné and the selection for the National Championships.

Anthony Louveille.

Pity that Wiggo spoilt the party for Thibaut in Switzerland Sad, but Overall he should be very happy with his performance Smile

Halle - Ingooigem

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/26%20Halle/PCM0001_zps42ab7e59.jpg

The Squad:

D.Boucher
N.Bouhanni
M.Ladagnous
A.Louveille
A.Geslin
F.Mourey
G.Soupe
J.Veikkanen

Pre-Race:

This is the last race in "Bleu, Blanc, Rouge" for Nacer. He is really looking forward the victory and our goal will be to make this true.

Race Report:

We controlled the race mostly with Blanco guys who were riding for Theo Bos. Francis did most of the work and David ended it.
I launched Nacer at a great speed, with 250 meters to go he started his sprint and he won his last race with the French Champion Jersey.

The Squad:

N.Bouhanni
A.Demare
A.Geslin
M.Ladagnous
A.Louveille
Y.Offredo
J.Roy
A.Vichot

Pre-Race:

This is the race where we had to win, the jersey of Nacer must stay within the team. I will be use as a Team-Mate for Arnaud or Nacer. I may have my chances in the finish if I really feel I can do it.

Race Report:

The race started fast with Europcar leading the group. After the first dirt road, Thomas Voeckler had a puncture, he was at the back they never made it back.

Then a breakaway managed to leave and we let them more than 12'. With 100 kilometers to go, Jérémy was reducing the gap to 9'. The thing is that we never saw them back in the pack, no one wanted to ride so we had to do all the work.

Sometimes Sylvain Chavanel came to help but was quickly out of energy.
With 15 kilometers to go Arthur attacked, no one in the group reacted or had the resources to brougth him back.

He quickly joined the breakaway who were out of energy and he let them on the side of the road.

With 10 kilometers to go he had 21" on the 5 remaining breakaway riders and 50" in the main group.

When he passed "la Flamme Rouge", he was assured of the victory. Our DS was on fire in the car, two years in a row for the team.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/27%20France/PCM0005_zps21d5421d.jpg

Arthur celebrated properly the victory as it was the last day of the season for him with this shirt.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/27%20France/PCM0006_zps25a2abd7.jpg

Behind we sprinted for the podium, Nacer managed to caught 3 out of 5 rider and he took the 4th position. I ended at the 17th position.

Tour de France

First week

The first week went well for the team, 6 podiums in 10 stages including the first victory of Arthur with his new jersey, it was on stage 2. Nacer had some pretty good sprints but Peter Sagan seems unbeatable. He won all the sprint possible for the moment.

Training in the Netherlands

As I said in my last post, A training camp was planned for me in the Netherlands, I went there with Jussi Veikkanen and Arnaud Courteille. We mostly worked for the end of the season, while they were preparing the Vuelta, I was preparing the Late Classics.

It was also the occasion of riding with our new suits:

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0002_zpsf84a6d93.jpg

It was hard to find but the hills of that country are really step. It was a good training.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0004_zpsb6714990.jpg

We went uphill a lot, we were riding between 180 and 230 kilometers per day during 6 days. The last one was the day were we "decided" our program for the end of the season.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0003_zpsa7ecded9.jpg

We also had some downhill too recover before going up again Wink

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0005_zpsa5294ded.jpg

We also focus our training on our acceleration, each one of us had to make a powerful attack and the others had to counter the attack.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0006_zpsa29a75f7.jpg
Arnaud was the first to start, he was good but with Jussi we managed to join him quite quickly.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0007_zps75f64cd8.jpg
Then came the turn of Jussi, very powerful at the beginning but then he almost got stuck on the road.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/28%20Training%20Camp/PCM0008_zps7e2f426f.jpg
I was the last to go, I was surprised of the difficulty of the exercise, I did pretty good but I'll have to work on that specific point.

At the end of the day, Jussi and I were fighting to be the first one at the Hotel, Arnaud couldn't as he was always burned out at the end of the day.

If you want to train hills, why go to the Netherlands? You can better train the flat sections with hard crosswinds there.

@sutty68: It will be useful for the future Wink

@Selwink: The points of the training camp was not really hills, it was more stamina and acceleration so Netherlands was not the worst choice Rolling Eyes

@Ian Butler: Well, this more a preparation race for the Eneco Tour here but this do not mean that I will ride it easily Grin

Tour de France

The Tour is now over, it was a great race for the team as in the last week, the boys brought 4 new stages victory.

Arthur won in Gap after a successful breakaway it was his second victory in the race:

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/29%20Tour/PCM0002_zpsd5a89925.jpg

The next day Thibaut was on fire during the Embrun Time Trial, he beat Chris Froome by 12 small second, this brought him 1' of the podium:

Then, it was the turn of Arnold, he escaped in the stage of the Alpes d'Huez, he was the strongest of the breakaway and he took a beautiful victory:

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/29%20Tour/PCM0003_zpsc6808c67.jpg

Thibaut really wanted to enter the top 3 and as Alejandro Valverde was showing signs of fatigue, Thibaut attacked in the last climb of the 19th stage, he was never seen by the pack again, adding a 5th victory to the team records.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2013/29%20Tour/PCM0004_zps484fc29d.jpg

In the 20th stage, in the last assencion, Thibaut and Alberto Contador left the pack, they worked together and thanks to Alberto Contador, Thibaut entered the top 3 in the last mountain stage.

The last stage was big day for cyclism as Peter Sagan broke the records of Eddy Merckx, Charles Pélissier and Freddy Maertens. he is now the only rider who won 9 stage during the same Tour de France.
