Men can do it as well. It happened to Walsleben a few weeks ago if I remember correctly. It's forbidden to enter the pit lane from the wrong side. There's no rule stating you can't ride in the opposite direction as far as I know.
Sven Nys wins the race named after himself for the 12th time. Only Mario De Clercq and Lars Boom have managed to beat Nys in this race in the past. It was another demonstration of class, technique and power from the 37-year old master.

Wout Van Aert has shown in the past he can beat 'supertalent' Mathieu van der Poel. Today he did it again. Van Aert saw his chance after Van der Poel crashed early in the race. Van der Poel managed to overtake everyone, except Van Aert.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't always allowed, you used to get disqualified for doing that. I think Adri Van Der Poel had it once for turning back 3 metres.

Lots of rain made the World Cup Race in Rome a muddy one. Albert delivered a one man show up after an attack in the 2nd lap. He held out, though Nys and Van der Haar came close in the final lap. The latter secures his World Cup lead and increases his advantage on Walsleben (bad day) and Vantornout (ill). Albert is now the new number 2, but the gap looks final with one race to go (Nommay).

Czech youngster Toupalik wins and takes the World Cup lead from Peeters. Junior Men Results
For Dutch speakers. A bit of a hassle going on in the Belgian Cyclo-cross world, after Vantornout reportedly asked the organizers of the Belgian National Championships for a change of the parcours. Apparently he asked for the planks (can't remember the right word; you know the things they jump over during the race) to be placed right after a corner, so everyone has to dismount. Everyone knows Vantornout can't jump the barriers without dismounting so that change would be definately in Klaas's favour. Lot's of funny tweets have been posted in the link above. (though they're all in Dutch.
Besides the Australian and New Zealand national road race championships, this weekend a lot of national cyclocross championships will be held. A couple of winners from yesterday: Men Juniors Winner:

Van Aert takes revenge in Otegem, beating the pro's (Nys and Albert did not start though)
No doubt he and Mathieu van der Poel will be the future of cyclocross. It already is an interesting rivalry. A bit comparable to Boom and Albert.
