Given the job it is, it'll probably be a job which doesn't require a lot of skill. Now, if you were the owner, you've got 2 people who are likely to do roughly the same skill of work (given his age, it's likely to be washing dishes or similar), one offers his services for a lower price, and is willing to work longer.
Which one would you pick?

We live in Britain, I would always pick someone who can actually speak English well
There is no point in having staff that don't speak hardly any English, no matter of the price they will work for.
Oh and by the way, he is an older friend, he is actually 27 (met him playing football) and the job was as a chef

In that case then, I have absolutely no case whatsoever. I'll shut up now

It is ok, we both have our opinions. In my hypothetical business, I would never hire Polish people as I don't think it is fair on the local British residents and because if I employ someone I want to be able to communicate with them and be friendly with them.
I'm guessing a lot of people's opinions will differ to mine

To me that is stealing jobs (if we didn't allow Polish people to live in Britain then the jobs would be going to the British people with actual qualifications rather than Polish people who have none but will work for anything and for how long the boss wants)
I understand your standpoint, but still I have to disagree, as it depends on what the employer emphasise on. Is it important to him, that he have a flexible employee or an employee that is skilled? I believe, that if you're skilled enough, you would be hired, though somebody else would work more than you.
You are obviously Polish though so I guess there is no way to reason with you
I'm not Polish. I'm Danish. I even knew Cruetrue/Mike back then when I was young and lived in Ishøj. |

Good luck isso with the new adventure...It won't be long until I join you trapsing off round the world: I start my new job in September. I don't know where I'll be, all I know is it'll always change...where will I work? On a boat of course, surveying the sea floor!
Now, am I going off topic, or back onto it?
Good luck stu. wish I had your luck. sadly, I was randomly sorted to work for the only portuguese company the corporation I'm in has as client. I WANT ABROAD DAMMIT.
Hopefully I'll be going round the world soon like you
