Blog #16 | 24th of March 2013 | 09:16
Hi again! I just came across this in the papers and I thought it'd be interesting to share. The UCI, CQ and Victory team standings at the moment.
CQ Ranking
UCI Ranking
Victory Ranking
Well, I'm pleased with this. We're not exactly the world's prime but we're doing all right so far. We can only grow from here on. Team Europcar is amazingly strong with riders Thomas Voeckler, Pierre Rolland and 20-year old cycling-God Henry Vergnaud.
We'll see you later!

Oh right, Citigroup being Belgian makes so much sense
Doing well indeed!

Dont. You. Dare.
I'm fine with Citigroup being Belgian, just didn't notice it earlier, missed it the first time I guess

Great Milan-San Remo, lets hope that continues and a fantastic win for Van Avermaet.
Lets hope Rik isn't resting on his laurels following a good start to his career.

Quick question - How do you get the results to appear like that in your story?!

Atlantius - I'm adaptable to all social situations...
Jesleyh - I have that power, though. You'll never see it coming, watch your back
welker3257 - Thanks! Hope Rik does better, too, to get Greg a good lead-out!
547984 - Thanks! With our team, here is where we need to score the WT points we need to stay in the WT.
baia - He's getting power over you soon, I might have to sabotage him
owen20ozzy - Van Avermaet winning a classic is our biggest goal here! Rik will continue working hard, I hope oh, and I just click 'export' in the game when the results appear. Then you can open an excel file with the exported result and past is here in a table
TimoCycling - Thanks!
SSJ2Luigi - Something like that, but I won't give up Sep now I'll give up Stijn Devolder, because I don't like him
Days are getting busier with work. I'll definitely race Wevelgem this evening! Thank you all for following!!! |

Blog #17 | 31th of March 2013 | 20:18
'Aye, you spotted it correctly. We're already at the eve of the Ronde Van Vlaanderen. I haven't been able to get on the internet until now. (Well, excluding looking up por...porcelain art objects.)
Anyway, Gent - Wevelgem was a great race. We came with the same squad as in Harelbeke.
In the final 50km, the field blew wide open. And, 'aye, that's our doing. A lot of wind and a strong squad are the perfect ingredients for blowing a peloton to pieces. After doing a lot of hard work, our squad thinned out for the real finale. Who was still there? Greg Van Avermaet, Tyler Farrar, Damien Gaudin and Rik Steenacker.
Eisel and Devolder tried breaking away. Tyler Farrar hasn't forgotten the help he got from Greg this season so he pulled back the attackers, his job was done.
Then Hushovd tried to get away, joined shortly by Degenkolb. Rik Steenacker felt good and was told slip away with them. The three got a 30 second gap but were caught with 10 kilometers left to go. None of them had the power to clinch on to the pack, which was moving too fast.
The wind was blowing so hard the field continued to crumble, this was probably one of the toughest editions of Gent - Wevelgem I've ever seen.
A leading group of 10 riders went into the final 8 kilometers, they were:
- Greg Van Avermaet
- Jürgen Roelandts
- Juan Antonio Flecha
- Alexander Kristoff
- Matti Breschel
- Filippo Pozzato
- Yoann Offredo
- Niki Terpstra
- Heinrich Haussler
- Nick Nuyens
6km to go: Nuyens and Haussler try to attack. They get a small gap but it's bridged by eight men working together well.
5km to go: Flecha escapes. Greg immediately reacts. Roelandts is fast and joins the two man before it's too late. A three man leading group now.
1600m to go: Flecha tries to get rid of the two sprinters but Greg doesn't give him an inch.
900m to go: Flecha with another try. Greg counters perfectly. On the right side of the road, Roelandts accelerates. Both Flecha and Greg don't have an immediate answer.
200m to go: Roelandts is gone and will win this race. What a tactical finish.

An overall strong squad we sent and we're happy with the result. They did good. Monfort is getting better.
Obviously, the first thing that I notice is that Rik is finally performing well on WT level, too. His strong attack in Gent - Wevelgem shows he's made for this work.
Besides that, he entered De Panne Tour and finished 4th in the first stage, laying the groundwork for a third place overall and the Young Jersey!
Final Classification
1 | Martin Elmiger | IAM Cycling | 11h59'21 | 2 | Sébastien Turgot | Team Europcar | + 15 | 3 | Rik Steenacker | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 43 | 4 | Ignatas Konovalovas | MTN-Qhubeka | + 59 | 5 | Alexandre Pichot | Team Europcar | + 1'11 | 6 | Staf Scheirlinckx | Accent.Jobs - Wanty | + 1'16 | 7 | Roy Curvers | Team Argos-Shimano | + 1'25 | 8 | Kristof Goddaert | IAM Cycling | + 1'28 | 9 | Paul Voss | Team NetApp - Endura | + 1'32 | 10 | Guillaume Van Keirsbulck | Citigroup Pro Cycling Team | + 1'33 |
Another great development was in the Tom Butler camp. The boy's finally proven he's not useless to me. Well, professionally... He still has to prove that personally, like.
Anyway, he did good in France, he's showing progression. Before you know it, he'll be winning Grand Tours. Just about the time hell freezes over, I reckon. Make sure to stick around!
Vincent Beaufort has been training an awful lot lately. He's been to a mountainous habitat to get some climbing training and it's paying off. Miguel Indurain, you have a successor!
