RESTDAY 2

Hi, everybody who is reading my blog. Today is the second restday, and there are no strange things this time (yet). There are also fewer interviewers, so I managed to go on a small ride with my friens John, Christophe and Maxime. We talked about the mountain jersey, and our plans for the enxt stages. John is very close to the mountain jersey, so if he can sneak into 1 attack, he can secure it. We returned to the hotel, where some fans wanted some autographs. Unfortunately, nobody got a video of my interview. But that will come, eventually.

The first 'big' moutain of today is the Col d'Aubisque. Gadret is trying to secure his mountain jersey today, with help from Bouet.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2016/PCM0002_zps5f5f12af.jpg

Same story on the Soulor.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2016/PCM0003_zpsba505b1a.jpg

The other riders in the break understood that we were going for the mountain points, so they did not challenge us. A little tree-shaking by Bouet caused 7 riders to lose contact. They are somewhere between the peleton and the break.

43km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2016/PCM0004_zps3ff17931.jpg

The mountain jersey is for John, no question about that. The break only cositst of 5 riders: Gadret, Bouet, Poels, Serpa and Levarlet. About 4 mintues behind them is the peleton, with the former breakaway riders in between. I am not part of the peleton anymore, but the big 3 (Peraud, Dupont, Bardet) are still there.

26km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2016/PCM0005_zps42d98e41.jpg

There were a lot of crashes today. Here's David Lopez on the ground. Other riders: Moser, Costa, Vandborg (twice), Mollema, Roelandts, Velits, Zubeldia, Kuschynski and Le Mevel.

14km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2016/PCM0006_zps5ecd6f69.jpg

The break was caught before the final mountain sprint. Froome and Contador are the 2 leaders, and small groups with favourites are behind it. It was too much for Bardet, he dropped out of the peleton.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2016/PCM0007_zps78dd03b8.jpg

The 2 musketeers got caught by a chasing group withour AG2R-rider. Rodriguez is today's winner. Peraud finsihes in the third group about 2 and a half minutes behind the winner. Thanks to this 13th place, he moves up to 19th in the GC. Dupont was the next victim of a crash, and lost some time.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2017/PCM0001_zps19f83aaa.jpg

I present to you: today's breakaway (withouth AG2R-rider). most dangerous name for the polka dot jersey is Serpa, who has 37 points. He can't match our supremecy, though!

32km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2017/PCM0002_zps5f383e47.jpg

The only HC-mountain was the Port de Bales. And it was a really tough one. Bardet, Dumulin, Minard, Riblon and I couldn't follow the pace of the peleton. The break is almost caught, and Voeckler tries to sneak away.

14km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2017/PCM0003_zpsd762d69b.jpg

We're at the Peyresourde, and the first favourites attack! Schleck and Rodriguez are going for it. Only 5 riders are still ahead of the peleton, including Voeckler and Serpa.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2017/PCM0004_zpscf5014e6.jpg

And of course these 2 riders are in front now. Froome and Contador are having a 30-second gap to Rodriguez and Schleck. Peraud is saving some energy for the final climb, and is in the group behind like Gesink and Moreno.

Contador wins today's stage ahead of Froome. He also takes the yellow jersey. Schleck edges out Rodriguez for fourth. We are now waiting for the rest, including Peraud.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2017/PCM0006_zpsedad5032.jpg

We have already seen 21 riders crossing the line, and here's Peraud. He finishes in a group with riders like Brajkovic, Rogers and Cunego. Dupont and Gadret are behind this group.

About 21 minutes later, I crossed the line together with Dumoulin. We agreed on having a small sprint, and the loser must do something the winner wants. And guess who won?

The organizers finally compensated all cancelled mountain sprints. Instead of 4, there are 7 mountain sprints today. Our main task today is to get Bouet back into third, or move him up to second.

RACE

128km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0008_zps61d3c4d3.jpg

Bouet wins the first mountain sprint out of a group of 7 riders. Nobody is really dangerous for the GC, but Trofimov is 6th in the mountain classification.

122km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0009_zpsbf9cefb8.jpg

This is the proof that nobody cares about those points except Bouet. He is still 4th, though. The current gap is around 5 minutes.

92km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0010_zpsf5859648.jpg

Bouet is closing in on Serpa now. The gap is 7 minutes, but can they go untill the end?

60km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0011_zpsf3d0c0b1.jpg

And with this sprint, Bouet moved to second in the mountains classification. He can relax now.

33km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0012_zps62e03774.jpg

With the rain coming down, Bouet takes another mountain sprint, without waisting too mcuh energy. The gap is down to 3 minutes, and part 2 of our plan is about to begin.

17km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0013_zps08a6e4d9.jpg

And this is part 2. Riblon attacks when the break is almost caught. Why? To grab 1 mountain point to get rid of Serpa in case of any miscommunications.

10km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0014_zps116439ce.jpg

It failed, though. He did not reach the break and was caught by the peleton. Poels grabs the mountain sprint, with Bouet in third. There is still 1 mountain sprint left today, and 1 in the final stage.

5000m to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0015_zps08490723.jpg

Grrrrr. Riblon was about to score the final mountain points, but then Contador attacks, and he gets the points. We hate you!

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2018/PCM0016_zps46e02df7.jpg

Contador manages to stay away from the sprinting peleton. Cavendish is very angry that he didn't win, and Dumoulin did great by finishing seventh! I, however, narrowly avoided a small, unseen on tv, crash in the final kilometers and finished behind the peleton.

POLICE HAS FOUND AG2R-ATTACKERS

From cyclingnews.com

Police article
You can probably remember the terrorist attack on the AG2R-hotel at the first restday. A terrorist threathened to kill the riders, unless they gave him money and stopped chasing the polka dot jersey. The police managed to kill the terrorist and Ag2R continued their quest, succesfully. The police published an article today about that attack.

A French terrorist organisation is behind the attack.
The police wrote that: 'A French terrorist organisation is behind this attack, we know who, but we won't tell you yet untill we caught them all.' The police also wrote that: 'The organisation has planned something for tomorrow's time-trial. We would ask anybody who is going to watch, to look out for anything weird or someone who behaves strange'.

When I started my TT, it was quiet. The only thing I heard were the second counting down and a man yelling go! After a few kilometers, the people came back, and they were very happy nothing happened to me.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0009_zps72a836b2.jpg

Well, this is the end of my time-trial. The public was very nice along the road, and nothing special happened, except that Roy overtook me. Boom is the provisional leader now, but Millar is flying today and beats his time.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0011_zpsea6508a7.jpg

The biggest favourite is of course Tony Martin. His start wasn't very fast, because he was not faster as Millar. And to everyone's suprise, the German is 15 seconds slower at the finish.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0012_zps0e9c7497.jpg

Dupont isn't a TT-specialist. He sets a 126th time, which is not very good. He drops a few places.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0013_zpsc62d091a.jpg

Today was the day for Peraud. This was his last chance to climb in the GC, but he didn't. Instead, he drops 2 places. A shame, but he did his best. The battle for the yellow jersey is about to begin!

RACE - PART 3

The battle is between 2 riders, Froome and Contador. The Spainard is 2 seconds ahead in the GC. However, the Brit is 24 seconds faster at the first checkpoint, and is the provisional leader now.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0015_zps2e91bd04.jpg

The yellow jersey is in big trouble now, because it's 45 seconds at the second split. Froome has already overtaken Valverde.

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0016_zps4b4d25d8.jpg

Froome crosses the line in 1 hours, 15 minutes and 4 seconds, which is 1 minute and 13 seconds faster as the provisional leader at that point, Van Garderen. Contador needs to fly to keep his yellow jersey,

i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2019/PCM0017_zps7c12d29d.jpg

Here he is, and you can see he's not happy. He finishes 2th on today's stage, but 58 seconds back. Froome is the winner of this years Tour de France.

MY COMMENTS

Congratulations to Froome, he derserved to win. JC did not rode well today, he is very tired. Tomorrow will just be the traditional sprint on a street, but we might have a plan.

ROUTE

www.letour.fr/PHOTOS/TDF/2012/2000/PROFIL.jpg

This is it, the final stage. The arrival in Paris. A day which will probably end in a mountain sprint, but something else is more important for us.

RACE

78km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2020/PCM0001_zpsedcac71f.jpg

And this was our plan. Riblon was tied with Serpa before today's stage. We took no risk and placed him in the break, where he grabbed the points. A tough battle with Albasini was needed, though.

52km to go
i1274.photobucket.com/albums/y433/Marcovdw/Le%20Tour%20of/Blel%20Kadri/Stage%2020/PCM0002_zpsbe3e4539.jpg

When the riders entered the Champs-Elysees, they were very suprised. The entire road was painted in pink. Well, strange.

The peleton is only 1 minute behind the break now, and it's time for some attacks. Riblon also tries, together with Albasini, Poels, Schär, Irizar and Malori.

And here is the result of the inevidable mass sprint. It is won by Degenkolb, ahead of Cavendish and....... Samuel Dumoulin with an incredible performance. He grabs third just ahead of Bennati and Sagan.

PODIUM CEREMONIES

So, after today's stage, the Tour is over. 21 stages, exciting battles, a lot of drama. A tour with bright and dark sides, a Tour to remeber. And of course, the final thing is the podium ceremony. I decided to visit it, together with Samuel. He still had to do something after our bet, so I decided he should visit it wearing a smurf costume, as suggested by a follower of my blog. He got positive reactions from the peleton, but a few kids tried to steal his hat! Well, he're is a report about the ceremony.

And a loud applause came out of the public. I was happy for my team-mate, I felt like I had a part in this victory. But, John deserves it.

But then, I feel something in my hand, but 1 minute ago there was nothing. Wait, what? It's a note, and I think someone put it into my hand. I read it, and it said:
Bring John and the pricemoney to the Bois de Bologne, no police, no excuses.
My joy changed into fear, and I knew it are the same guys as the terrorist attack and the TT-obstructors.
