Race Report : De Brabantse Pijl

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/De%20Brabantse%20Pijl/PCM0001_zpscc412571.jpg

I was not planned on this race but after my recent results and the condition of Damien, the coach exchange our spot, he will ride Tro-Bro Leon.

As we really did not want to chase today, Yohann Gène, who did not ride for a few days, went in the breakaway.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/De%20Brabantse%20Pijl/PCM0002_zpsa009cb2c.jpg

At 10 km from the finish, Maarten Wynants (Blanco Pro Cycling Team), Stijn Vandenbergh (Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team) and Sébastien Turgot were fighting to stay together.

Maarten Wynants was the fastest, Séb did 2nd, Thomas 4th, Vincent 7th and me 9th. It's my second top 10 and I'm proud of it.

Race Report : Tour de Bretagne

Not much happened to me during the three first stages so I will make a quick report about them.

Today was a hard day, the final climbs were too difficult for me to hang on. But on the other side the result of the team is pretty good.

I mostly stayed in the middle of the pack today to save some energy for the three ascension of the Mûr de Bretagne.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/PCM0002_zpsd3b00922.jpg

With the help of the team, Damien resisted to the numerous attacks of potential favorites.

In the end Fabrice Jeandesboz (Sojasun) was way stronger than the others. Damien and Yukiya are 4th and 5th in the time of the winner which bring Yukiya 2nd in the General Ranking.

Tomorrow I will try to be in the breakaway because I like the profile of the stage and the coach set me as a free-element.

Race Report : Tour de Bretagne

Stage 05

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0001_zpsd398f4ac.jpg

As I planned yesterday, Today I was in the breakaway with a team-mate. Perrig Quemeneur, who is from Bretagne knows well the road we pass trough today so he came with me in a breakaway of 14 riders.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0002_zps179e8ec6.jpg

Everyone was working hard to make things work and at 80 km from the finish line we had more than 10' on the pack. Suddenly, everyone stopped riding, it was just me and Perrig. He was so tired that he decided to work for me at least till the cobbled section.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0003_zpsb4aae688.jpg

Because no one was taking care of the breakaway and because Perrig was to tired to set the pace, I accelerated during the only cobbled section of the stage, I created a small gap with the group.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0004_zpsee4a4bf6.jpg

Ther was still 40 km to go but thanks to Perrig, I did not make too many effort during the first part of the stage contrary to the other riders in the chasing groups. With 25 km to go I was still leading but they were closer and closer.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0005_zpsf7fe7815.jpg

When my coach got the right to follow me, he told me that they were giving up behind. And on top of that I was catching the poor riders left by the pack.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0006_zpseb77f3fc.jpg

When I entered the last kilometer, the gap was 1'30. I was so exited, everyone in the crowds were supporting me.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0007_zps476bb996.jpg

I finally crossed the line, alone with the late riders next to me watching. I was winning my first Professional race after 40 km in solo. I enjoyed the moment and I was thinking to Perrig who made this real.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0008_zps8fd4f75c.jpg

I was on the top step of the podium for something I will never forget.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/A%20French%20Rising%20Hope/2013/Tour%20de%20Bretagne/Stage%2005/PCM0009_zpsef1f479e.jpg

And a little bonus, thanks to my win I will wear the young jersey tomorrow.

This is a day I will never forget, my first professional win and I hope the first of many.
I'm very tired now and today the stage is not flat. As I am the best young, I'd love to keep this jersey.
I'm also 4th in the GC and it would be great if I could stay in the top 10 before the last stage of this race.
Now I'm going to bed see you tomorrow Wink
