Force india is aiming for a top 10 this weekend
really i quite like them, i really wish Prodrive would have been allowed in this season or if they had chosen Minardi Racing (who applied for a spot)
now that would have been awesome. But seriously Piquet Jr will be good, its just a shame hes a Cocky Piece of S***

for the three billionth time PRACTICE MEANS NOTHING!
Look at the practice 3 results from previous races. what does it show? wow, Aguris, Red Bulls and Renaults in the top spots.
how many good results did they get, again?
get it out of your system guys, practice means zero. and when I say zero, I don't mean "it doesn't mean that much", I literally mean nothing at all.
Practice is used to set up the car, trying different stuff with the setup and tyre compounds. every driver is running in a completely different program, and none of them is concerned with fast times even in the slightest.

I assume they don't really mean zero, every driver tried in at least one of the three practices to drive one fast lap before the qualifications.
We'll see in 15 minutes but I wouldn't be surprised if the starting line looked a bit like the table above (barring crashes, engines explosions, etc.). |

I would have disagreed with you issoisso, but given the above, I'd actually say it means less than nothing

The situation of the Renault team is pretty sad. Renault chairman Carlos Ghosn has said he'll end the team if they don't get results soon, so they had to resort to this. Putting almost no fuel in the cars so they'd have a great qualifying.
It's going to be painful to be a renault fan tomorrow when they stop early and completely disappear from any chance of winning the race.
I'd expect this kind of PR stunt from Toyota, but not Renault. Just goes to show what people will do when they're put in a desperate situation.
Even Alonso said his best hope for tomorrow is seventh position, which is basically admitting it was just a PR stunt.
Or as SpeedTV's Steve Matchett put it: "the only objective Renault has with this is selling more Twingos"

Renault has almost always been in F1 with the objective to sell more twingos. I guess the same goes for all popular constructors involved in F1.
Alonso was about one second slower than in Q1 & Q2 though, so he wasn't totally empty. Yet I tend to share your point of view, I can't see them as podium contenders for tomorrow. Top 5 would already be an achievement, especially if Piquet also scores at least one point. |

oh and Álvaro Parente has made me eat crow on my previous comment that he was nothing special.
First ever driver to win on his GP2 debut. this is most likely an anomaly, but if he keeps this up (unlikely), that means he's a real talent.

That's just sad. Super Best Friends F1 was the best thing that's happened to F1 in a long time
They were always so cheerful and friendly to everyone...too bad.

Yep, quite sad for them. Seems like it's Nick Fry from Honda who sabotaged Weigl's plans to save them (Weigl didn't want to pay S.A.'s debts to Honda). |

Practice 2: Raikkonen bounces back
Kimi Raikkonen bounced back from his morning gearbox problem to head the field in the second practice session for the Turkish Grand Prix. But intriguing ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying session, while Raikkonen set his best time at the end of a series of runs on the harder compound rubber, Hamilton’s came on his first lap on the softer tyres. Red Bull’s David Coulthard made the biggest gains late on to slot into a competitive fourth, ahead of McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen and the lead BMW of Robert Kubica. But while Coulthard enjoyed a strong session, his team-mate Mark Webber was limited to just four laps after crashing his RB4 into a barrier exiting turn six at the 30-minute mark. His car came to rest back on the circuit and he climbed out unaided, but the crash brought out the red flag while marshals cleared his car and the shattered carbon fibre.
Full report and session times to follow…
