The organizers say it is a flat stage , but with a climb with 5 kms from the finish line that has 10% slopes only flat it ain't.
As no break-away was formed early we decieded to sprint at the first intermediate sprint , and Mark grabed 6 bonification seconds and 6 points .
With 50 kilometers to go ...BANG ! Sagan hits the deck... The favourie #1 of today's stage is helped by all of his team-mates to get back in the peloton , but Keisse and Fenn set an incredible fast pace , 55kms/h with 50 kilometers to go , I think everybody is sweaaring !
We managed to get rid of Sagan and then catch the BOTD on the last climb . Now let's see how will Cavendish do on these 10 % slopes .
He managed to get over the climb and still be at the front of the peloton . Things were looking good , we had Boonen , Meersman and Vandewalle around him , but I am sure his legs feel a little bit tired .
Remember Stybar's win from Stage 3 of Tour Mediterranean ? 3 of our riders got away thanks to Meersman's downhill skills and we managed a 1-2 double then . We tried the same thing now .
Unfortunately we couldn't get away , so it will be a very, very fast sprint !
So close...EBH got the win , but at least we keep the Leader's Jersey !

We made some tactical mistakes in the final kilomters because of that climb and the downhill but I think that , all in all , it is a good result as long as we have the Leader's Jersey.
I know it wasn't fair play - the Sagan thing - , but he had to pay for grabbing that girl's ass !
Again a flat stage , but at the middle of the race there is a 14% slope climb and the last kilometer is uphill . These things will , most likely , tire Cavendish more than Sagan or EBH , so we don't have high expactations .
Again we wanted to take advantage of the intermediate sprint and gain some seconds to help us defend the Leader's Jersey .
As the BOTD was going to be caught we came at the front of the peloton. Vandewalle - Steegmans - Meersman - Boonen will be Cav's lead-out .
5 kilometers to go and Steegmans was leading the pack . Everybody else decided to get a place behind Cavendish . Sagan , Ventoso , Van Avermaet and EBH were all there .
Cavendish launched his sprint with 1 kilometer to go...and Ventoso passed him . Can he hold on and finish 2nd ?
No ...but at least he gets a podium place and keeps his Leader's Jersdey .
The queen stage of this Tour - a mountain top finish on the Green Mountain . As our best climber is Meersman it is pretty obvious that we don't have any expactations .
A 7-man break-away was formed . Immediately after Keisse and Cav attacked from the peloton and joined the escapees . The peloton did not want the Red jersey in the BOTD so they started chasing .
As the break-away was caught Cav attacked again and finished 1st at the intermediate sprint to grab 6 points. Then he was caught .
As there was no break-away , Weening , Ivan Gutierrez , EBH and Voigt attacked with 30 kilometers from the finish line .
Again the peloton chased hard and caught them , so it will all be deciede on the Green Mountain . With 2 kilometers to go Lastras made his move and David Lopez tried to respond .
But Lastras was too strong and he crossed the finish line 1st .

As expected we lost the Leader's Jersey but Cav is still 1st in the Points Ranking .
Edited by alex valceanu on 13-04-2013 11:03
It is a hilly stage , pretty difficult for Mark Cavendish . Let's hope he can climb those hills and defend his Points Jersey .
NEWS: Peter Sagan did not finish yesterday's stage and abandoned . We got rid of 1 sprinter , but I think the most dangerous rider for us is Boasson Hagen .
Only 2 riders decided to try their luck and get in the break-away : Peter Weening and Francesco Gavazzi . Their lead at the first climb of the day was of 4 minutes , they had big chances of winning the stage .
The 2nd time we climbed that hill it was very difficult . Many riders were dropped by the peloton , including Cadel Evans , Geraint Thomas , Matt Goss or Di Luca . Surprisingly Cavendish and Boonen were still in this small group . Meanwhile , Gavazzi dropped Weening , who is soon going to be caught by our group .
Boasson Hagen and Cancellara attacked with 15 kms to go in a desperate attempt to catch Gavazzi , who had a 2 minute lead .
On the 3rd climb Cav and Boonen were dropped .
Gavazzi was too strong to be caught and EBH sprinted for 2nd place .

After yesterday we lost the Red Jersey now we lost the Points Jersey too .
Edited by alex valceanu on 13-04-2013 11:22
It is the last stage of this year's Tour of Qatar . It is a flat stage but with some short , steep climb in the last 15 kilometers . The profile doesn't suit Cavendish , but still we will do our best to take home the Points Jersey .
With 10 kilometers to go the BOTD is going to be caught . Simon Clarke and Xandio attacked from the break-away but it was too late . Steegmans-Meersman-Boonen was the lead-out for Cav .
With 6 kilometers to go Voigt attacked and created a gap . Unfortunately because of all those hills we couln't set a very high pace that would exhaust Mark before the sprint .
Voigt was entering the last kilometer with a 20 second gap . Sagan , Ventoso , Goss , Cavendish were all there . The German was probably shouting : SHUT UP LEGS !!!
We came fast from behind but not fast enough . Voigt managed to hang on and take the stage win . Unfortunately Sagan and Ventoso were too fast for us as well . And the things to go from bad to worse : EBH gained 6 positions in the sprint , passed Mark , and defended his Green Jersey .

Aftre we won the GC in Tour of Qatar , Etoile de Besseges , Tour Mediterranean and Vuelta Algarve , this was a very disappoinitng tour : only 1 stage win .
Now it's time for some classics : La Drome , Omloop Het , Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne and Le Samyn will be our next races , and also the last ones is February .
We are back in France again . After Zdenek's wins from Etoile de Besseges and Tour Mediterranean , we are now here for a classic - La Drome .
Profile
It is a hilly race , not very long , and I think that it will end up in a mass sprint because all hills are in the first part of the race .
Opponents
*** Giovanni Visconti , Grega Bole ** J.Tiernan-Locke , Wout Poels , Elia Favili * Lars Peter Nordhaug , Laurens Ten Dam , Sébastien Chavanel
Line-up
The race
With 50 kms to go Denifl , Barguil and Hivert attacked from the peloton and caught the break-away , forming a 9-man group . But the peloton was chaisng hard , thanks to Omega-Pharma-QuickStep and Blanco .
But this group was caught and with 10 kms to go Favili made his move . Nordhaug , Poels decided to follow him .
The peloton's pace was just too high to create a gap so it most likey to end up in a mass sprint . With 5 kilometers to go , Stybar and Meersman were well-placed .
Stybar did a good job as a lead-out , but many riders started their sprint with like 2 kms to go and it is going to be very diffcult for Meersman to pass them , because he has no space .
But he found some space and with 200 meters to go he is now 2nd . Does he still have some energy in those legs to overtake Lemoine ?
Of course he does ! First win of the season for him ! :)

After winning the KOM Jerset in TDU , and a top 10 in Tour Mediterranean , here is the first win in 2013 for Gianni ! Congratulations !
Up next : the cobbled-season starts , with Omloop Het and Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne . ! See you in Belgium ! ;)
Edited by alex valceanu on 13-04-2013 20:15
Here we are for the first race in Belgium this season . It is good to be back here , where we hope that Boonen will have important wins in 2013 . The cobbled-season starts with Omloop Het .
Profile
195 kilometers that have 9 sectios of cobblestones . As 5 of them are in the last third of the race we expect some riders not to keep up and only a few riders to be in the first group .
Line-up
Our leader is of course Tom Boonen and he has some important guys to help him : Chavanel , Steegmans or Devenyns . We can say that our team is the strongest in the peloton and we also have the Cavendish option , if he is not going to be dropped on cobbles .
As you can see almost all the big names that we will see in the classics season are here , so we expect a hard fight .
The race
A break-away was formed , but with no big names there . With 70 kilometers to go Turgot was the first one to make a move from the peloton .
15 kilomters after Turgot's move , Van Avemaet attacked as well . The pace in the peloton was very high now and many riders were dropped , including Mark . So we are focusing 100% on Tomeke .
Becasue of the high pace a 20-man group from the peloton got away . Boonen , Chavanel and Steegmans were there for OPQS . In our group there were also Cancellara , Nuyens , Flecha , Leukemans , Sagan , EBH and Turgot with Van Avermaet , who were caught after their ealier attacks . Meanwhile the BOTD was caught .
On the last sector of cobbles Boonen came at the front of the group and set a very high pace . Only Chavanel , Cancellara , Van Avermaet , Flecha , Vanmarcke and Ladagnous could follow .
We had a 40 - second gap but nobody wanted to work and Chavanel was just exhausted . So with 10 kilometers to go we were caught . Now Sagan and EBH were back in business .
Cancellara and Flecha wanted to surprise us and laucnhed their sprints very early . Unfortunately Sagan was right on Boonen's wheel .
We started the sprint and Boonen looked very strong . But with 200 meters to go Sagan jumped from Boonen's wheel . Who will win it ?
