What happened to this guy.....

What the hell are a French deputy and AS doing in Munich?

Miguel98
That explains his ''mental'' instability right now.

Bumped into each other in the lift of an airport hotel, according to the deputy, where surprisingly the deputy was knowledgeable enough to recognize the cyclist unable to push the proper lift button.

Btw, I don't care much about what A. Schleck does in his private life, but I guess that says a lot about his current state of mind and explains why he can't perform anywhere near what he's expected to do.

The guy gets worse and worse for every day...

He should take a break from pro cycling and sort out his life. Otherwise this could be dangerous for him.

Edit: Anyway the French politician isn't showing much class by making this public. Schleck's private stuff is nothing of his business.

This is nothing new, he was thrown out of the Vuelta by Riis a few years back when he got piss drunk with O'Grady and they both caused a big scene at 3am trying to have a party in the hotel corridors

I really liked Schleck a few years back, but after his constant whining, inability to even got on the TT-bike, lack of tactics, etc... I'm just so sick and tired of the guy.

If he were to retire from cycling I wouldn't shed a tear.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

It's better if it is in the public eye because hopefully it might give him a kick up the arse and make him sort his life out!

From the tone of the message(s), he's rather respectful of his palmares sympathizing than making publicity or overwhelming him.

To translate the messages he wrote, if you've not read them before :
Late check in a Munich airport hostel. A pretty drunk guy painfully manages to enter the lift and vainly tries to push the button. I recognize a great cycling champion, twice second of Le Tour these last few years. Depressing.

And later :
That was Andy Schleck. Wearing his former team Leopard Trek jacket. He couldn't stand on his legs. I pushed the button to his floor. I found it was a very miserable situation. He had abandoned an Italian race the day before and hasn't finished a single race since Spring 2012. His brother Frank is suspended during one year for doping offence. I thought I was seeing a young lost guy, drunk and alone at night in an airport hostel.

He seems to have a decent knowledge of cycling (I guess barely two guys at work would be able to recognize Andy Schleck, would they bump into him).

I agree it's Schleck's private business, but the politician seems to feel like most of us : it's a shame and it's depressing.

Why are people acting like he's in a Vandenbroucke/Pantani spiral of self-destruction?

He got drunk. We know he already had that habit years ago, so it's not because of any possible depression.

It's not like he was caught snorting coke off the blade of a knife. People get drunk, and while I personally think it's a retarded thing to do, millions do it every week without it being made into a tragedy.

Lighten up Wink

Yes, he's throwing away his talent.....welcome to 2009 Pfft

Well, I think that, if I was Andy, I would leave his team. I think that his team doesn't help him at all.

It's not that he got drunk. I mean, I got drunk myself yesterday, and it's definitely not a tragedy. But it's not the same to get drunk in a party with friends/work mates like on the 2010 Vuelta and to get drunk alone in an airport hotel.

Anyway I don't think he's in a Vandenbroucke/Pantani/Chava spiral, but rather that he's at risk of ruining his career, which is much worse than just wasting his talent by only caring about two events in the whole calendar.

The team was half set up specifically for him before the merger, so no way in hell that is happening.

Edi: maybe it is because Schleck doesn't ever get the joy of getting pissed after a win?

Fixed

Seriously though, wouldn't surprise me to see him leave. His giant ego versus Bruyneel's giant ego is bound to end in a bust-up sooner or later.

At least it's different from all the doping news. He's... a form of entertainment, maybe? Pfft

You have to admit, he always makes you wonder: will he quite? Will he even start? Is he pissed?
And then when he does quit, you can't help but smile, can't you? Grin

All kidding aside, it's his business if he wants to get pissed, no one is forcing him to do this for a living. If he doesn't like training on a bike: quite cycling.

In the end, it is his thing. If he gets paid for being a professional cyclist, who gets pissed and does not finish almost any race, it is stupidity of the ones who pay him, not his. I would take this job gladly.

Ouch. Embarassed
It seems that pretty much half of the doctors in teams are connected to doping somewhat...
