Stage 5 Stage 5
With 2 stages to go, a final time trial with half of the course climbing, today's 3 first category climbs is definitively decisive. The stage doesn't end on the top so the final descent might make a difference.
With 85km to go Movistar is letting Katusha do all the work, after all they have the yellow jersey. Costa with the green jersey has Rodriguez on his eye. In front a 8 men break with 6 minutes has 3 potential dangerous guys to GC: Seeldraeyers, Poels and Knees. But there is still two giant mountains in the way.
With 15 km to go Rodriguez and Velits have a slight advantage won by attacking at the end of the ascent, but Movistar and the other teams are chasing hard.
With 3km to go Movistar work has paid off, and now the sprint will be launched...
And Rodriguez wins the stage and a few more seconds. Rui Costa is 4th but everything to be decided on the final time trial!

Stage 6 Tour de Romandie
On the final time trial with every men for itself, will Rui Costa win 24 seconds to Rodriguez and maintain the 22 to Velits? Horner also might have something to say...the profile for sure isn't for pure time trialists.
And Intxausti did a great time trial, then Rui Costa did an amazing time, just to see Rodriguez doing even better.

1 Joaquím Rodríguez Katusha Team 29'45

Agostinho wa 24th on the stage and 12th overall.

Stage 2 Giro D'Italia
Today is a day for sprinters and Ventoso might have something to say. If for the GC there are lots of favorites, the best sprinters didn't came. Still we have Farrar, Demaré, Bennati, Guardini, Petacchi and some other good sprinters.
Something wird happened on Stage 2, there was a mass crash, 4 riders abandoned (most important, Kolobnev), a lot of them lost time (Basso lost more than 4 minutes), and Movistar increased strongly the pace, with only Radioshack trying to follow. Result: 4 first places to Movistar and the 4 after are from Schack.
Stage Results
1 Francisco José Ventoso Movistar Team 4h32'53
2 Jonathan Castroviejo Movistar Team s.t.
3 Giovanni Visconti Movistar Team s.t.
4 Beñat Intxausti Movistar Team s.t.
5 Yaroslav Popovych RadioShack - Nissan s.t.

7 Daniele Bennati RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
8 Tony Gallopin RadioShack - Nissan s.t.
9 Damiano Cunego Lampre - ISD s.t.
10 Christophe Le Mével Garmin - Sharp s.t.
Castroviejo is the new leader. |

I hope this was not the famous "sprint bug" in PCM 12, otherwise i'll just simulate the sprint stages.
Stage 3 Giro D'Italia
So, with a profile completely flat, today is again a day to sprinters.
Another crash this time Wiggins is involved. 35 riders!
And Swift won the sprint beating Farrar. Ventoso was 3rd! (uff! No bug!)

Well, i made my train and with 4 km to go i put Intxausti in 100 effort, it was enough to take the other 3 with him, and no one followed, maybe everybody had someone on the crash, so no one wanted to increase the pace. Still wird, but on the next flat stage other teams made their trains, and it was a credible sprint.
About Rodriguez, this was the TT:
As i told on the post, it was not a flat TT. |

I know it was a hilly TT but still, it's not all hilly so it's quite unusual won't you agree? |

9 Thomas De Gendt (Bel) Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team 0:00:53.59
10 Janez Brajkovic (Slo) Pro Team Astana 0:00:54.63
22 Luis Leon Sanchez (Spa) Rabobank Cycling Team 0:01:23.70
Luis Leon Sanchez was leading the race and on that day lost 1'23 to Wiggins. He was the spannish champion, so we might say he is a good time trialist.
Plus, Szmyd and Pinot for sure are no TT specialists to make a top 10 result. Rodriguez wasn't there, but who knows? |
