Fun to watch, but still not sure why it's trade teams and not national teams.
Better publicity for sponsors?
Not for the sponsors, for the UCI. The worlds are the one race where they get 100% of the tv money, and it gets very good numbers. I'm sure they were sitting around trying to figure out how to get more racing on television, and somebody came up with bringing the TTT back.
As for it being trade teams? Probably because that's the only way the TTT exists, as trade teams. It would be stupid for the riders with the TTT jersey or logo or whatever to be spread out across different teams.
ironic that it's added the year they lose the U23 money

MTN didn't do too bad, though. Considering TT isn't really a very strong point and they're not familiar with it. But like I said, they were faster than Lampre and it's not long before they've settled into Euro racing. Mark my words, the Africans have come

Alakagom, Sky is only with 4 elements.
Sky didn't prepare at all well for this, and they seem not to care too much anyway looking the team they fielded
This lame do not care.. and startlist. Wiggo and Froome, Uran is half dead after this summer.
I loved Quickstep on start ramp..they seems to be relxed and give high five for each other, Happy that they got it. |

Oskar Svendsen wins the time trial for juniors
He will ride the next season for the Norwegian continental team Joker Merida.
A "fun fact" about him: His VO2max is crazy, he tested 97,5 in late August/early September, and he's 18 years old.
1. Oskar Svendsen (Norway) 35,34
2. Matej Mohoric (Slovenia) +7
3. Maximilian Schachmann (Germany) +12
4. Alexander Morgan (Australia) +13
5. Mathias Krigbaum (Denmark) +14
6. Nathan Van Hooydonck (Belgium) +19
7. Bert Luyckx (Belgium) +21
8. Mads Würtz Schmidt (Denmark) +22
9. Ryan Mullen (Ireland) +26
10. T. J. Eisenhart (USA) +26

It's very huge indeed, but the fact that he's 18 isn't relevant here. It doesn't really evolve with years. He probably had something close to that at 16 as well, but he won't get much more (if any) at 25 or 30. |

That's true, though, he has evolved his VO2max from 87,7 to 97,5 the last 11 months, which makes me believe he hasn't fully evolved his VO2max. Though, it doesn't really matter, 97,5 is more than enough
Also, he tested 6,5 liters of oxygen/minute last year, which I also find surprisingly high.
Will be very interesting to follow his development, he's got all what he needs thinking of physics. And judging by his results this season, it looks like he has become a better bike handler and rider in pelotons than last year. |

I have high hopes for him, but a high VO2max isn't everything. He still has a long way to go when it comes to riding in the peloton, tactical decisions, etc.
Joker is a step in the right direction, atleast that's what I think.

VO2 max can be translated into how much you can ride in a 3 to 6 minutes effort. But that doesn't say how much you can ride on a 20 or 40 minutes effort, nor what you can do on 3 to 6 minutes after a 200 km ride, or on a daily base. |

Well, if they ever introduce prologues as a seperate dicipline, then we've got a star!

Anton Vorobyev destroyed the U23 TT the same way Durbridge's did last year.
Rohan Dennis finished 2nd, 44 seconds back and Howson 3rd, 51 seconds back.

Yet another excellent result from Chernetskiy. If he continues to progress like he has done so far, he'll be one of the best GT riders in just a few years time.
Domination from Vorobev though. A bit of a surprise for me, as I expected Dennis to crush everyone.

Wiggins was never scheduled to ride in the Worlds though.
Froome was, but I guess after they assessed his fitness - there was no-way he could compete for the gold or any medals and just let him focus on the RR ( more rest from Vuelta )
It's a real shame though, as 2 of best tt'ers this season won't ride the Worlds, but at least Martin is there.

I'm a bit dissapointed in Quaade, I thought he would do a bit better.

In my opinion, Tom Dumoulin should deserve a higher place there, he's from Limburg and he abandoned at stage 8 of the Vuelta after a crash with the guardrail.
But, unfortunately for Tom, it comes down on how fast you can ride a bike.

Did Cattaneo crash or something? He had the TT as his big goal and ended 5 minutes down...
If he's that far off in his specialty he has no chance in the road race
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified
