It went something like:

something like that
I never got a message like that from Valverde321, and I post like a madman |

Only shit, on full page of quoting.
Guys, question:
What's the most annoying thing of the year so far? It can be anything. |

Why do people always remember the thousands that died in one day... and not the people that are continuously dying for a war for "peace"?
You can replace peace for oil and oleoducts if you want.
Everybody also remember the 40th anniversary of the Munich Massacre, but who really remembers the hundreds who died in the air attack by revenge of the Israeli government?
Not a fair world... for sure. |

Agreed. It's like human lives don't all have the same values depending on people's nationality. How unfair.
It was Leonard Cohen who sung "the death of one is tragedy, the death of thousands is statistics", or something like that. Couldn't be truer. |

It's a line attributed, incorrectly according to some sources, to Stalin.

The reason why so many death goes overlooked, I think, has to do with the medias, and peoples for matter, need for a "shock factor". What going to make people watch the news or buy you news paper; "three died in explosion in Iraq" or "3000 died in terrorist attack"?
Since car bombs and other similar events have become almost an every-day occurance people tend not to think to much about it. It also helpes when it happens millions of miles away and not in your own backyard.
To say that the death of one is a tragedy, but the death of millions is statistics is, too a certain degree, true. Sad, but true.

We got stuck on a somewhat morbid subject...
Let's change to pedophilia, much gayer to talk about! |

I see it not as a discussion about a "morbid subject", but rather as a statement regarding human behavior and interests
I suppose it could be split into a new thread if anyone is interested in a discussion about it. If not we'll just leave it there.
But to brighten the mood a bit; puppies and flowers!

+1!
Spoiler For those who are offended by this: it was not my meaning to be funny, or to be rude. I definitely don't approve the things that happened on 9/11, but I really hate what Bush did after that. I once saw a 'philosofical' sentence about that:
But not only the 'Bush Wars' are horrible, also the fact that people are starving to death in Africa (and other regions) every day, just isn't acceptable! That's a million times worse than something that happened a day 11 years ago..
