Anyway, I think there should be a bet in Fantasy Betting if Andy Schleck will or will not finish this race. That will be another interesting thing to watch.
It wouldn't be worth putting any money on. It'd be on 0.95 or something.

Wow this major crap. After the cancellation of Passo Lanciano this was the best stage in the early season and then it gets cancelled too. :/
Congrats to Albasini though. It serves the teams which decided not ro race in the first stage right.

More reports over twitter coming in that the riders indeed cannot get to the start, because they are in hotels at 2000m altitude, and they can't get down because of the snow
They should just cancel it and give Albasini the trophy, trully hilarious

It's unjustice because GreenEdge did nothing to chase the break and would never have caught them even without shortening the stage. So the legitamte GC winner was in that break. Silly decision by the jury to annul the time difference and very unfair.
GreenEdge get rewarded for nothing.

5 teams are effectively stuck at the top op Port Aine.
Other teams with other hotels can get to the start |

We can't help the weather though on the stage cancellations front.
Snow in Catalunya in March.. who'd have thought it...

Snow at 2000m at a Ski Resort however, is not as unexpected in March

Not in this case.
The weather was fine up there the last few months. A dutch guy living in the area said that they didn't have that much snow, if snow at all, at the roads since 3 months. It was beautiful most of the time and the organisers had the most bad luck ever |

Snow at 1000metres and higher is pretty normal in March. Many people are whinning against tours in China or the other non-european countries, but that would be still better than two best stages and two races screwed up in March

No it's not. Don't generalize all Europe mountain passes.
For example. Gesink reconned the mountain stages of Catalunya...twice. And it was HOT back then. That's 1 week ago.
So they really were unlucky with the weather. Usually in Catalunya at this time a year even at the mountain passes such severe snow is unlikely. It happens, but late march it's rare. Believe me. Why do you think so many pro climbers train in Girona in the winter? I tell you one thing. It's not because of snow on mountain passes.... |

I didn't say it's fair. It just serves some people right, but still sucks for the guys in the break who didn't softpedal through hell. But the result is a travesty, no point denying it.

For some of them it is or was not only about the mountains either. |

biciciclismo.com says the teams have arrived on time, start was scheduled for 12:30 and the race is under way.

Alot of riders having problems early on this season, either through crashes or other things.
Turning into a very unpredictable season.

It's never a predictable season. Since the epo-years are gone I find cycling even very very unpredictable most of the time.
There is a small cringe of top riders who get consistent results. But there's a lot more suprises and suprise winners lately |
