That was far more than expected from a race where I only sent 4 riders. Great stage win from Vasquez, a bit annoying he lost several minutes on splits on the hilly stages, but I really have no reason to complain. A great race for us, even though we won't get many points from it.
Thanks for the reports, mb. The stage Vasquez grabbed was a great read, and I was literally on my way into the many screenshots you took for that stage |

Team D2 struggled on the time trial with the exception of Logan Hutchings, but even his finish at 10th was lower than he had hoped for.
On the positive side 3 riders in the top 25 with Laverde-Jiminez (11th), Esmaeli (21st) and Serrano (25th)
Thanks for the opportunity and I hope some of the other D2 teams get a chance in this type of a team situation it was great fun. |

Oh, it was so close after all... :\
Still the team did a great race, we tried everything to win a stage or at least to be visible in every stage, so we can be satisfied.

To be honest, not much you can do if your absolute leader falls and injures himself. Just gotta accept it - just bad luck. Without the fall, probably could have finished in any position from 1 to 5.
AI very annoying after he fell though - keeping him a favourite for some of the stages, even though he was injured - so the team didn't even go stage hunting. Absolute wash out of a race - doesn't help that its timed to coincide with the idiocy at Capo too.
Thanks for the reporting, mb.

Well, it would have been amazing with an overall win here but great that we managed the 2nd place in the GC.
And some points in KoM and so on.
And thanks for all reports! |

Not bad for Team D2 here, Laverde Jiminez and Hutchings looked Continental quality, the rest weren't far off. |

I think Hollister were fairly smart to send Kiserlovski here and it worked out alright for Davis too. Davis would be one of many in a big sprinters field and only the peerless Bennati has shown any sort of consistency there.
Davis hasnt done too badly this season to be fair - he is up to 5 stage wins now, with 5 further stage podiums - plus winning the Down Under Classic.
Whether Guatemala was worthwhile ranking points wise is always going to depend on how the race plays out. The chances of a big rider being here are lower, so theres clearly going to be a great opportunity for some. Pick the right races, and your rider could easily outscore a better rider than him in the rankings. 5 teams scored 200+ points here, so I think they can count it as a successful decision to race here. Hollister scored 452 - the highest single race score so far this season.
Team D2 gather 37 points - 21 for Laverde Jimenez, 8 for Esmaeli, 4 for Serrano, 3 for Shapira, 1 for Nozal. This is the same that Vespa got for the race, and much better than Oz Cycling could get (13). [Rankings update will come after Capo ends]

I would guess that Team WWE is one of the high end scorers here, seeing as I got loads of good placings, and the team did good. Not that I seem to remember how the points are spread out. Oh well. Looking forward to see the new rankings.

Its a shame that Laverde Jimenez couldn't hold on to a top 10, but he still did better than expected. It was a good opportunity for the Div2 riders who got to race. I don't think that it was a bad race for Div2, but we lacked a high position in a stage.

Overall nice performance from our D2 team i think, maybe higher single stage placement would be better, too bad that not too many breakaways made it to the finish first.
Thanks again for the chance to ride in Guatemala, our young boy Shapira was so excited and happy he stole 3 CT points, certainly a nice motivaation for his future career
And congrats to Laverde, he was very close to that top 10.
