Martin Reimer (24) was 2009 the surprise winner of the german national road championship, then was at Cervelo and Skil and now.. Retires from professional cycling
Any mention of why he retires?
He said he didn't get the results he would liked to have. Also he was extremly disappointed with Skil:
They said that he didn't get a contract because he isn't improving... In the 1st half of the season he was sick before the Tour de Qatar in which he should have been the captain of the team. Also he got often sick in spring which was also bad as he was the captain for the spring races. Afterwards they didn't used him like they said for flat/hilly terrain but mountainious races.
Or he was planned as the captain for the Cyclassics and Plouay, but 3 days before they sent him to the Tour of Colorado...
How should he prove himself in races he doesn't really fit in. The course for the german national championship 2009 was hilly at best with a portion of "teams unable to reel in the breakaway"
He had some disputes with the DS, they said "He can say what he thinks and it's appreciated" and when he critizised the team, he got punishments because he said what he thought.
And he said he don't want to race in the Continental Tour as it's seldom that anyone who goes back from the World Tour or PCT to the CT comes back to the WT or PCT.
But I guess if he would switch to the Asian CT, wins then a lot of races and so gets a lot of points.. He would be at AG2R or so

Shame a team like NetApp werent interested in him, theyre ProConti like Skil - though its not great logic: I dont want to go to a CT team because Ill never get back to WorldTour that way. So Ill retire ... and never get back to WorldTour.

I guess he wants a "safe" future and is fed up with pro cycling after the Skil year..
He won't get as much as a WT or PCT rider and is with some "amateur/less professional" teams whilst he proved that he is promising and a good helper ok not recently but thats mostly because of sickness/Skil thinking he is a mountain rider
So he has now a safe job and is ok with it, he said that he will race some races with his home team in Cottbus but these aren't really professional races so he isn't really fed up with cycling, but pro cycling

But if you did not heard it already, he was doing a lie detector test and showed the result to the court. Which is crazy because he could select the question he was asked during this test, also he could do the test as often as he wants to get a good result. |

Plus lie detectors don't actually work properly. It is possible to find many cases of people who have successfully with them.

I'd like to see him do the Lie Detector test with the world's media looking on |

Illegal, and yields bad publicity for the UCI. Who thought this was a good idea? |

The UCI have confirmed that biological passport cases could be opened within the next few weeks after their President, Pat McQuaid, told Cyclingnews that the governing body were analysing several suspect passport readings.

My advice? Shut up until you know something for sure. |

Apparently, Bjarne Riis has etablished a feeder team for Saxo Bank named MG KVIS Norda - Riis Cycling Espoirs. Not much info yet, but we do know that the team has signed the 18-year-old Norwegian William Brekke Johansen.

Nah, this looks like a propaganda statement to keep the impression that the UCI is actually doing something on the anti-doping front. Nothing will happen and nobod will remember this statement in 3/4 months.
