Tour of California - Stage 4
A hilly stage but a climber will probably win this one. The last climb to Sierra Road is a short but steep climb. Porte is one of the favorites.
The break with Luke Rowe still got a small gap when the race enters the final climb, Sierra Road.
Richie Porte is in the top of the bunch when Rowe is caught. Porte is looking good and everbody in the team car screams: GO!
With 3kms to go Porte finally attacks and no one are able to follow him. Or are they saving themselves to the sprint?
The sprint starts and with 700 m left Hesjedal (Garmin) and Menchov (Cofidis) spots Porte. They are coming with great speed. Will they catch Porte?
Porte fights the final meters and wins the stage with 20 seconds to Hesjedal. Porte also takes the leader jersey, what an great day!

A little teaser for tonight's press conference
Today a journalist spotted the Rapha Condor - Sharp rider Dean Downing on a training ride. Strangly, Dean didn't rode in his current Rapha kit and definitely not on a Condor bike!

The sprinters were able to follow the bunch over the two last climbs, but none of them had energy left to make a ggod sprint. Arashiro still felt good but it was like if he was held back by some hidden force (AI) and nothing happend when he started to sprint. Instead Dennis Menchov (Cofidis) won the sprint in front of the whole RadioSchack.

Richie Porte and Taylor Phinney were two big favorites to win stage 6. However they ended up as 4th and 5th, just like in Gila. Dennis Menchov won the stage and is only 1 second behind Porte in the GC.
Stage 7:
After several of crashes and minutes of waiting on Road Geometries I simulated stage 7. It was a good decision... Porte won the stage and Menchov lost 2 minutes.

Stage 8 - Final stage:
The last stage was a flat stage. The General Classifications was already won by Porte so the team decided to work for Arashiro.
The lead out started with 7kms to go. Everthing looked great to Taylor Phinney, once again, crashed.
Arashiro's lead out was gone and instead he had to follow Haussler. He could easily follow Haussler, but never pass him, so while Haussler won, Arashiro ended up as 3rd.
Richie Porte won the GC!

None of they guts were in any top shape so no wins for us in FDB Ras. However, the guys rode substantially and Craven was 5th in the GC after a good ride on the last stage. Downing was top 7 on all flat stages, who were dominated by Alberto Loddo. Hermans, House and Kennaugh was in the top 10 at the hilly stages and at the last stage Tennant and Craven managed 2nd and 3rd.

Team Sky and Bradley Wiggins were simply to strong in the British RR
Sky splitted the bunch in the British National Championships. Only House could stay in the first group, but he ws to tired to make something good in the sprint. Instead Team Sky's captain, Bradley Wiggins won the sprint and became British Champion.
Ben Hermans did a good job in the Belgium champs. He was 4th at the road race. Boonen won the road race and the time trail!
Taylor Phinney was 2nd in the American TT Champs, which indicated that he was in great shape. A few days later he became American Champion when he won the road race 10 seconds ahead of Chris Horner (RadioSchack). Taylor will ride in "stars and stripes" next year!

Signings for 2013 - Part 1
Jonathan Bellis was the first signing made by us. We were looking for a descent sprinter, and chosed between him or John Degenkolb, but we finally picked Bellis because we wanted to save him from SaxoBank and Bjarne. He will be an important part of next years Rapha team.
Joshua Edmonson have been without a contrct for two years now. It's a shame, because he have the potential to become a great climber. He will never win a Grand Tour, but he can develope into a great team mate and maybe finish in the top 10. He is also young and english, and have a long carrier in front of him.
Dominik Nerz have been without contract during 2011. He is a great team mate and he has the potential to becoma a great climber in a few years.
Ben Hermans have reached his limited potential so we needed a new, and better, leader for the hilly classics. We chosed to contract Ryder Hesjedal. This canadian star wiil lead the team in the ardennes and smaller stage races in 2012. He won't lead the team in the Grand Tour's though. We still have Porte and another rider for that...

nice, signing Hesjedal, are you not going over you're budget? And otherwise nice races of you, and good luck in London.

Hopefully not, I have won a lot of races this year and achived all goals so my wage budget is pretty big for next year.

Signings for 2013 - Part 2
Tejay van Garderen will be our leader for the Tour de France. We decided to sign him when Richie Porte reached his limited potential, at 79 mountain. We still got plenty of cash left and van Garderen seems to have a bright future ahead. He will probably win a grand tour in next coming 1-3 years.
Robert Partridge is a great english team mate. He can climb and time trail well. He will be usefull in hilly races, team time trails and prologues.
George Bennet, remember his name. He has the potential to become the greatest climber in the world. He will probably win a grand tour in 5-10 years. However, he is a little bit weak on time trails...but he will be a great team mate this year. Will ride his first grand tour in 2013, probably the Giro.
Mark Cavendish is our last signing. He have been convinced by Mark Renshaw to join us. He will lead the team in the sprints. Downing, Renshaw, Briggs, Clancy and Phinney will be his new lead out. Will he repeat this years success, 23 victories, point jersey and 6 stage wins in the tour?
