A stage win! And some important bonus seconds. Who knows? Maybe they will prove to be vital at the end of this race. Either way, it's extremely exciting |

Like I said at the beginning Spilak is going to win this - especially now he has the bonuses that go with the leaders jersey. |

after wikipedia chases the break you would think phinney would position himself somewhere in the picture before the red kite. Still a plus to see him riding well.

Good to see Galimzyanov keen for the breaks still. The opportunity of success from a break may well have passed, but if he does get in a successful one, his sprint would become a great asset.
And bring on the Pyrenees!

Greipel is doing good to show off for new teams next season. I am pleased with that.

Really looking forward for those last stages. Fingers crossed that Contador will have his priorities right.

Gah, frustrating to see Uran disintegrate on that last climb - a missed opportunity to really look to secure a podium spot. No doubt he would have done so much better in Yellow too.
Well done Popovych. Id have expected a disaster for Uran if told beforehand that his closest rival would be Popovych after the stage, but not, Popovych really rode out of his skin there - Henao too.
Looking at who is up there in terms of the relegation battle - this is developing badly for Energie and Starbucks.

I still cant believe i was stupid enough not to just hand spilak every cent he wanted. In fairness Zabriskie, who would have had to been sacrificed is riding really well and finishing around 20th overall (considering the final tt) is not bad at all.

That was a great stage. I don't mind not having the yellow jersey as long as I end up having it in Paris |

I'm a bit miffed that Gomez Marchante somehow was not able to keep in contact with Montoya - and more than a bit that he lost contact with Popo so much too.
Looking at some of the other performances though - there must have been more than one rider on -5 daily form for the day. Never expected to see that from Schleck. |

I second that.
Three stage wins and a top 5 in the GC is definitely a very successful Tour de France.

Horrible stage. And like I said previouly the mountains competition is not something Contador can win no matter how badly he wants to attack for points. Now he's back to 8th GC and 4th mountain. Shitty performance!

And dissapointing again. Attacking too late, thus throwing away a podium place - although chances of a Top 5 seem stronger with Gesink gone, Im more fearful of the Tourmalet stage. Its dissapointing in relation to the Alps though, I realise other riders are doing much more under-par.
Great riding by Iglinski though, beating Menchov by a minute and a half in the B-race of 2nd best riders in a team is great, and he did well here today. Then theres Kvasina and Cabreira, almost unseperable on GC, with the Croatian back into the Top 40 - looking to stay there for his 5th consecutive Top 40 GT finish. And Medvedev into 50th, having lost 8 minutes in the mountain-less first week and been moving back up ever since.
Oh and the Top 3 riders in the Tour are now all from the bottom 3 teams in the rankings, if we exclude Lafarge. Energie, Nespresso and and Starbucks could be set to be plunged into the role of 3 teams battling for 1 survival spot.

Phinney with a really pleasant surprise there. A good finish to the mountains along with a strong time trial could see him even finish 10th.
Overall, this has been a very exciting tour. Spilak vs Dekker itself is quite the battle but with so many other big riders here there is always something exciting happening.

Great ride there from Spilak to take the jersey. Dekker really has his work cut out now. |

Not the best day for Dekker, now more than a minute behind. There's still one last chance before the TT, and as we've seen a couple of times, anything can happen. |
