I'm with Talleyrand on this one. A company can't hide behind a language barrier and be picky in addressing the community that is the live-line of the game. Keep in mind that without a proper database with all the rider-names, equipment etc, the game wouldn't be bought by anyone.
Most of the buyers know that with a few downloads the game can become playable, if the basic (engine) is good.
And that is just was Cyanide has screwed-up this year. Fact of the matter is that the if they would have just build a new 3d engine (which is the only good thing about PCM2010) an used the AI from 2009, than all of us here would have been much happier.
Instead they messed-up big-time. Hilly IA is dreadful, Cobbled races are ruined (40 riders sprint in Paris-Roubaix) ... and to what end?
I think they will put the AI from PCM2009 toss it in the PCM2010 with the good 3d and call it PCM2011... asking price will be €44,95... well that's pretty decent behavior for certain people, but in my book it just plain robbery...
I have bought every version of this game up till now... but I think I will acquire the PCM2011 game in a alternative way... because if you look at it properly, its just a late patch for PCM2010.

Me too. I have never experineced a more unprofesional behavior from a game company than Cyanide have given us this year.
It´s a big mistake to throw people out of their community, just because they in a proper way critisise the game.
If I buy this game next year, it will be in september, and I only buy it, if it sounds absolutely amazing on pcm.daily´s forum.
I hope a lot of you wont buy it too, but we has to be many, many, many people if it shall be good for anything.

This year I really feel like I waisted €45,-
Not going to anymore. This version was really the worst I can remember since a long time, since CyM2.
It actually reminds me a lot of CyM2. Mass sprints in cobble stages, stage-racers winning mass sprints, hey wait... PCM 2010 is just new graphics with CyM2 AI!!! |

I think, they are counting on the community to much(Worldwide i mean, not just the french one). They have just made a game with good graphics, but nothing else. But why?
The denfinitly know that there are some good DB Makers out there, which can also affect the matrix with their knowledge. For example PCMDaily or Plakkers crew.
Over the last years you where able to straight out(right translation?) some of their mistakes, but with this years AI-Problems they took the biscuit.^^
That are my thoughts to the current situation... |

Yeah, but i would excuse that type of mistake. Because the graphic engine is (totally) new. So it's bearable that it crashes every now and then. But the AI is the same as every year. Maybe some small changes, but nothing new in common.
Why didn't they take the AI of 2006...? In my opinion the best PCM. |

They should re-do the AI IMO. So the sprints could be a little more realistic. It's very rare that a lead-out man comes in second place. And if you make a lead-out train, he very often do.
And then, they should re-do the whole sprinting design. So it looks a little bit more realistic. The sprinters should throw their bikes over the line if they are fighting for a place. And it should be different sprint modes for each rider(the top sprinters).
Maybe even a "sprint-mode" if you like. When you enter the last 3km the game should shift to 1km --> 100m so the last 3k is more important regarding lead-outs and so on.
bad written i know, but do you guys feel what im trying to explain here?

interesting ideas of course ... but some question vice versa:
How long do you want to wait to be able to start some proper PCM2010 career finally? Some career for which you haven't to fear, that you need to start another one after a few days because of further patches or have to fear, that you need to rewrite the database to make it compatible with "the latest news"?
believe me ... i get a little annoyed by this fact meanwhile and i bet, such an AI change will last long until it works perfectly. |

If they could make that it would surely give the game some extra realism, a real mass sprint with jumps in the end and lead outs only starting at 3 km to go instead of 11.

The 3km thing would give you the same time as the 12km would. Because the counting would be "slower"

My guess is a month, or maybe longer then that. And then, when you start a career you would have to start over again when the 2011 db is released Hehe, it's not easy.

I think the problem is not to implement that type of feature, it's more about when to use it and when not... You know what i mean?
Just use it for every flat stage, or even hilly(Is that a word?) stages, or mountain stages... That's the hard thing to adjust. |

The game already does this - you just need to accept the fact that it is from 12 in game kilometres, rather than a closer distance to the finish as in real life.

Well yes of course. It would be cool to have it on all the stages expect the mountain stages. It would also be cool to have that feature when a break goes in. To be able to play that cat and mouse game when it's 3km to go. Sit on the wheel, go for a long sprint or attack when it's 3km or less to the finish.
That type of feature would make the finishes more tactical IMO. But i understand your consurne..

Yes i know, but the sprinting looks awfull I would be more than happy if the riders had a little bit more uniqe style of sprinting and if they could throw their bike over the finish line when it's close.
