I'm not sure the fight with Dean was the act he got punished for. The move across to block Farrar was extremely dangerous and could have cause a mass crash.
So the "Deviating from the sprinters line" penalty doesn't cut it now. Relegation + large fine.
For those who say fines don't work, make the fine big enough for the rider to feel. Then it'll work
Deviating is one thing. Renshaw looked across, saw Farrar and then swerved several meters and almost pushed Farrar into the barrier. It looked very deliberate.

I think in a preferable situation both riders should have been fined, and put to the back of the group, and at worst docked a few more seconds. |

HOW"S THAT A CAV'S PROBLEM!?
It's not, I never said either. It was directed at the first post saying that the nowegians were whining about Cav. Imo he's clearly the best sprinter in the peloton, and though the statement might have been misplaced on my part(sorry about that), it was made to show that I don't make excuses for Thor and i don't whine about Cav.
you're going into the "good Norweigan" list.

Exactly right in Formula 1 it takes hours to clear up controversial situation however

Mark Renshaw, of HTC-Columbia, is kicked out of Tour for his actions at Stage 11 end: Head butting. Blocking a potential winner.

Right call. But it is still heavily into the "throw him out" category.

Of course this was a weird sprint bey Renshaw, but why was he disqualified if Barredo, Costa, and many more are still there.
It wasn`t that bad in my opinion. McEwen or Steels did much worse. |
