Actually your opinion lost all value on this subject when you posted the very articulate "eurovision is shit." with no backing whatsoever.
Besides, is something is shit because for some reason your country keeps underperforming at it, there's a lot thats oughta be "shit" in your opinion.

Actually, the Lloyd Webber song was last year. It did well, we came 5th.
This year was just a return to sending absolute shit, that might have done ok in Eurovision 20/30 years ago - this time the 'big name' was Pete Waterman. Supposedly a good song writer, but clearly not anymore, as the song itself was atrocious.
There's so many artists or songs the UK could send that would do well, but most of the time, we don't do that
my bad. shows how much attention i payed to the whole process
in that case it was something that Waterman had lying around that couldn't make it onto Rick Astleys last album |

With the right song, you can win eurovision.
Germany doesn't usually do too well, and look they won.
Yes there is political voting, but who cares. For me it's about the bit before, not the voting.
And as for people saying "Eurovision is shit" seriously, why did you come into this thread?

I wouldnt do either of those 2 things for any music I buy. Doesnt mean I wont buy music.
And I hardly think anyone is buying the Eurovision album just so they get the British song

I listen to them all, then after eurovision delete off my itunes the songs I don't like, leaving usually around 10 songs that I'd be happy to listen to again.
Anyway ringo, seriously, why are you in this thread euro-bashing, surely you've got better things to do?

Don't go on the thread then. Ignore it if you don't like it.
my opinions is just as valid as the next persons
I know that, but if there's something I don't like (Golf for example) I don't rant about it, I just ignore it. I could rant about how shit it was, but I'd rather not bore myself and annoy someone who likes it. |

I hate Darts, snooker etc. I didn't go trash their thread with a comment like "Snooker is shit"

Indeed, it is a forum.
You make flimsy anti-Eurovision remarks. As its a forum, we come back with stronger counter arguments.
And you run away.

just one last thing before i go.
as i mentioned earlier, the main reason i dislike the competition is because it doesn't represent anything about the music in my country and has just turned into a new way for the BBC to make money.
if the competition allowed normal bands and groups to perform then it would gain alot more credibility around the world, not just europe.
I'm not sure what countries you guys are from but if someone came up to you and asked what the music was like in your country, would you play them your eurovision entry as your example?
now i'll drop the subject. i didn't mean to offend anyone. just expressing my opinion. |

UK - No
But other countries, mostly yes, eurovision is a representation of their music.
different genres enter, some people in Turkey may prefer dance, but their best rock act entered. etc.
