Giro d'Italia Stage 6
Hi. Todays stage was a looong one. A break went clear and got 12 minutes but was caught with 30km's to go. then some big names attacked and VDV had to follow. It came down to a sprint.
In the sprint Cunego does something and actually wins the stage. VDV finishes in the 1st group and gets even more time on Wiggins.
(Sorry my pics are apearing in my ss folder. I'll take double shots next stage as those were the only ones that showed up this stage.)

Giro d'Italia Stage 7
Another long stage today. This stage is 2kms longer than yesterday. All the riders were talking about today was about how dangerous the profile was. The racing was very dismal because of the pounding rain and windy conditions. A break of 1 rider (Bertolini- Androni) got away and he held the pack off for a very long time.
On the long descent into the town that the stage finishes in the Garmin boys worked hard to pull back the breakaway rider. They set up a train for Farrar today while I sat back and watched Christian.
Unfortunatly Maaskant crashed hard today. The Lotto rider beside him got his bike run over although from this angle he looks like he got run over himself but that is not the case. In som sad news Pedro Horrilo abandoned after crashing with major injuries. I don't think the thin roads of Italy are his place to race.
VBertolini holds off the maglia rosa group to take a stage win. Last year on stage 7 it was Scarponi but this year its Bertolini.

Dave Zabriskie plans for a successful return
[img-r]https://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/107567/473873691_boiqz-m_medium.jpg[/img-r] |
Garmin Vet Dave Zabriskie or Big Z has missed the last 2 months with a collarbone injury. He has just been helping out (or sitting around depending on who you ask) at the team HQ in Girona Spain for the last 2 months. He says that he's more than ready to get some big results so soon after coming off an injury of that severity. Dave has been bored thw last 2 months and wants to get back on the road and win something big like a stage in Catalunya. Dave told us that he's marked the Timetrial date of the Volta a Catalunya on his calendar and will go out to win that stage. He rides in the Batavus Pro Race before heading back to Spain. Lets hope he can get those big results.

Giro d'Italia Stage 8
(sorry I lost about half my pics again)
Here was todays breakaway. They got a max of 7 minutes but had almost 5 minutes after 40km.
Fast Forward now to the 2nd last climb of the day with the break still 3 minutes ahead. I followed a few weaker GC riders as Christian already had Kessiakoff with him. I, along with the other GC riders were caught.
Some of the stronger GC riders attacked and instead of attacking Garmin just sent its squad to the front to lift the pace dramatically. VDV attacked at the foot of the final climb and passed everybody.
It was smooth sailing from here. Look at the dangerous descent!
Christian could now see the last km banner. He had won another stage. He sure is dominating this edition of the Giro so far. But its anything but over right now as theres still 2 weeks to go.

I made it myself. I had the camerluca SP 1.5 and I just changed the stats moved the riders around to the correct teams using CQ Rankings and the I replaced the 09 shirts with the 2010 ones and then some of the .nif files for equipment too. It was really fun.

Giro d'Italia Stage 9
This is a very flat stage. Its also a very dangerous and narrow stage so VDV and I have t obe very careful. Farrar will not get the luxury of resting today as we are working for him to get a stage win.
The stage began with a 7 man breakaway. They eventually got a gap of 8 minutes and with 50km they still had 6 minutes. And then with 30km they had 2 minutes. It would be very close but the peloton caught them. At 11km to the finish we formed a train for Tyler and we got a great position for him. With 3 kms the sprint started and Farrar was in 5th position.
In the end Farrar just got beat out by Allan Davis.

Giro d'Italia Stage 10
This is the longest stage of the Giro. It will be hard so I have to help Christian as much as possible today.
On the longest climb of the day VDV attacked after I was unable to continue protecting him. He fell into a group of 5 riders including Kloden, and Garzeli.
The selection got back together before the last major climb and then on it Wiggins attacked. VandeVelde was showing his 1st signs of weakness after he couldn't follow the pace set by the rest of the selection. He was over 1 minute down.
On the descent VandeBroeck, Nibali and Kloden joined Wiggins.
The riders got around the last bend and Wiggins won it in a sprint.
Heres VDV coming in about a minute later.

Giro d'Italia Stage 11
Another long day in the saddle. Luckily it was a flat stage so I was allowed to sit around and chat with other riders. At 30kms the BOTD was caught and everybody knew it would go down to a sprint. Farrar just got over that hill near the end of the stage without losing much energy. Now 10km to go and the trains are forming. 5 km and Farrar doesn't have a wheel yet. 3kms to go and the sprint begins. O'Grady's got the lead but others are coming fast. Greipel can see the line and rockets ahead.
But Kluge still manages to take the win. HE followed O'Grady's wheel and then went around him to take the win.

Giro d'Italia Stage 12 ITT
Svein Tuft was the first to go out for Garmin. HE set a good time but it was later beaten.
David Millar was one of the better TTers to ride very early on. He beat the current time and sat in first for over an hour before being beaten.
I set out on the course. It was a very technical course and very hard.
It was very fun though because I didn't need to worry about the GC.
I was going so fast on the course that I eve npassed Rujano woh started ahead of me.
There he is behind my dust!
In the end I rode a very solid TT and came in +3:07. Not bad.
VandenBroeck came in behind me. HE also had a good time at +3:00.
Heres Nibali. He rode very strong today and got into the top 10 on the stage.
Bruseghin set a very solid time. He finished +:57
Basso also riding strong.
He would finish with a time of +1:01.
Now Wiggins the last man before Vande Velde. HE set blistering times at both time checks and was still going strong to the finish. I don't think he slowed down at all on the course. He just kept getting faster and faster.
Christian also on the course. HE is going slow sadly but he can probably keep his lead.
VDV crosses the line and his time is.... +1:52. Wiggins wins the day with a time of 1h 45' 24.
