french rider are underated I think. Fignon have finish 6th of 1991 tdf, whit 79 in MO and 73 in tt, he will not be able, and remember that he have no teamate for help him, Cyrille Guimard have choose Leblanc as team leader. Leblanc will not be able o finish 5th, and J-f Bernard is not enough strong to finish whit Bugno and Indurain at l'Alpe d'Huez

You need to be offensive if you want to finish in the top10, you have loose a lot of time after your crash.

There are only flat stages left, so there is no point in attacking. I probably can get Giovanetti into the top 10 after a really good ITT. Bugno should be able to win the ITT stage and Fidanza the last 2 flat races. The last one was a little to hilly for him. Perhaps the last one is too.
Anyway, I'm going for stage wins now. And I'm happy this fall happens now and not in the Tour....

PREVIEW ON THE GIRO D'ITALIA

i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae120/harry1978/giro.jpg

This edition of the Giro lacks big names. Chioccioli (Del Tongo) is the ultimate favourite to win the Giro and his competition consists mainly of riders that are not made the Tour-selection of the various teams. Hampsten (Motorola) will be Chioccioli his biggest competition, but so far we have seen very little of the American this year. Giovanetti (Gatorade), Elli (Ariostea), Claveyrolat (RMO), Millar (Z), Gaston (CLAS) and Sierra (Selle Italia) all are OK climbers but are not expected to make it Chioccioli difficult. The weakside of Chioccioli (Del Tongo) is probaby his team. He brings only 6 teammates to the Giro, including the sprinter Cipollini, leaving only very little helpers for the high mountains.
The battle for the points jersey in contrast could be a really exciting one. With Cipollini (Del Tongo), Kelly (PDM), Fidanza (Gatorade) and Van der Poel (Tulip) participating.

Great result on the first stage, but where was Cipo?

I think maybe you should cut down on the details a bit, to make it a little easier to read.

Cipollini was definitively there in the intermediate sprints. The finish in the first two stages was too hilly. I guess he lost it there. But he will definitively be there in the flat races. And hopefully Fidanza is too.

And sorry, I have to admit that I'm a bit of a detail freak....

Chioccioli (Del Tongo) als took the 3rd stage, which was more or less a delayed prologue.

i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae120/harry1978/giro3_giovanetti.jpg

But it didn't come easy as Giovanetti (Gatorade) was only 3" behind.

Passera (Gatorade) los his pink jersey as his ITT performance is not good. He did the best he could and at least stays on the podium behind Chioccioli (Del Tongo) and Giovanetti (Gatorade).

i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae120/harry1978/giro3_passera.jpg

Also Elli (Ariostea) did good in the ITT and takes the 5th position.

GIOVANETTI - BOMBINI - CALCATERRA - FIDANZA - KUMMER - MANZONI - PASSERA - SCHUR - SCIREA

I'm trying out a new format. It should be more readible than the previous one without giving up on details. Let me know if you like it. Or hate it.

230 km: A couple of riders tries to get away from the pack
E1: Huygens (Histor) and Gonzalez (CLAS)
E2 at 13”: Boden (PDM), Navarro (Amaya), Meyvisch (Carrera), Roes (Lotto), Thueux (Castorama) and Van Leeuwe (Tulip)
E3 at 39”: Bennington (Z) and Vairetti (Selle Italia)
P at 1’04”.

222 km: The attackers are caught by the pack, initiating attacks by Casado and Meyvisch, Sunderland and Thueux.

200 km: Giannelli tries to get away from the pack and join the attackers. Several riders are following.
E1: Giannelli (Carrera), Casado (Z), Lietti (Ariostea) and Michellucci (Selle Italia).
E2 at 28”: Sunderland (TVM), Gonzalez (CLAS), Meyvisch (Carrera) and Van Leeuwe (Tulip).
E3 at 52”: Huygens (Histor), Naessens (Lotto), Thueux (Castorama), Kindberg (Toshiba), Walzer (PDM), Navarro (Amaya), Alvis (Motorola) and Oliveira (CLAS).
P at 1’14”.

180 km: The cards have not yet been shuffled and many riders are trying to get away from the pack. It is going to be a long and tough race.
E1: Walzer (PDM)
E2 at 8”: Lavainne (Castorama), Michelucci (Selle Italia) and Casaco (Z)
E3 at 31”: Kindberg (Toshiba)
E4 at 1’25”: Sunderland (TVM), Oliveira (CLAS) and Lopez Mejia (Gaseosas)
P at 3’19”.

150 km: The attackers have increased their lead on the pack.
E1: Giannelli (Carrera), Lietti (Ariostea), Lavainne (Castorama) and Walzer (PDM)
E2 at 52”: Casado (Z), Kindberg (Toshiba) and Michelucci (Selle Italia)
E3 at 2’22”: Oliveira (CLAS), Lopez Mejia (Gaseasos) and Sunderland (TVM)
P at 7’28”.

120 km: Lavainne takes the intermediate sprint at Oristano before Walzer, Giannelli, Lietti and Michelucci. From now on it is flat to the finish. Perfect for sprinters such as Cipollini and Fidanza.
E1: Lavaine (Castorama), Lietti (Ariostea), Walzer (PDM) and Giannelli (Carrera)
E2 at 1’10”: Casado (Z), Kindberg (Toshiba) and Michelucci (Selle Italia)
E3 at 2’56”: Lopez Mejia (Gaseosas), Sunderland (TVM) and Oliveira (CLAS)
P at 9’27”.

75 km: The pack is taking back ground on the attackers.
E1: Lietti (Ariostea), Lavainne (Castorama), Walzer (PDM) and Giannelli (Carrera)
E2 at 2’36”: Michelucci (Selle Italia), Kindberg (Toshiba) and Casado (Z)
E3 at 5’58”: Sunderland (TVM), Lopez Mejia (Gaseosas) and Oliveira (CLAS)
P at 6’47”.

i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae120/harry1978/giro4_1-1.jpg

50 km: The pack is picking up speed now and the gap with the attackers is decreasing fast. No doubt about it. It is going to be a mass sprint.
E1: Giannelli (Carrera), Walzer (PDM), Lietti (Ariostea) and Lavainne (Castorama)
P at 3’12”

43 km: Lietti can’t keep up with his fellow attackers and is behind. The pack is still getting closer fast.

30 km: Lietti has been caught by the pack. It is only a matter of time for the others. Giannelli tries to ditch his fellow attackers in an ultimate attempt to stay away from the pack.
E1: Lavainne (Castorama), Walzer (PDM) and Giannelli (Carrera).
P at 54”.

i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae120/harry1978/giro4_2-1.jpg

15 km: All attackers have been caught by the pack. It is going to be a mass sprint. Or can somebody still get away?
