Milan - sanremo!
The day have arrived !
A sprinter classic with CIpressea and Poggio on the way, the hills that decide what stage it would be.
A breakaway of two got away, Oss and Fischer, but they didn't have more then 4:56 at the best.
At 76km to go they had some visiters, Such as Vaugrenard, Rast and Pineau.
When they were closing the top of Cipressa Boonen and Voigt was ahead of the peleton.
On the way down from Cipressa, Cervelo up in front with alot of riders.
Only Boonen could hang on infront of the peleton when they arrived poggio Which sprinter could hang on?
No one tried to catch Boonen and Lampre did a good job up Poggio...Hushovd and Haussler being cold.
Boonen on the way down from Poggio...
.... But the peleton came fast behind, it's looking to be a mass sprint, and it didn't go that fast on Poggio and Cipressa, so the favorites are in the peleton i think.
Cervelo doing a good leadout...Boonen is history.
WOW ! Haussler !
Hushovd had a long sprint but it was good.
top 10.
1. T. Hushovd
2. A. Ballan
3. M. Lorenzetto
4. H. Haussler
5. A. Davis
6. T. Boonen
7. F. Cancellara
8. D. Bennati
9. Ó. Freire
10. A. Petacchi |

A sprinter stage on the paper...but it could make some difficulty for the sprinters.
Haussler is using this race to get in shape to the classics...but he will fight in the end. Lancaster as a leadout man.And konvalovas will try to defend the young jersey today.
Pujol taking the first Kom....
...and the second one.
But on the last climb i couldn't hang for the KoM point's.
Haussler in the with 170m to go but was totaly empty at the end.
Only 94riders came in with the peleton.
Riders such as Cunego came in behind. |

A hard stage waiting for today... Just want to hang on with Tondo and Sastre... Not in a good shape juste yet.
Voigt the rest of the breakaway.... would he hang on?
No he couldn't.
And Pujol didn't get that much KoM point's today..but well
Astana where working like hell to make sure no breakaways got away at the end...
i am happy with this day |

Todays breakaway...
The stage went pretty slow and they where at 6:32 at the most.
Cunego and Gerdemann trying to get up to the breakaway... 67km to go.
Peleton coming fast behind the breakaway now.
They barely stayed away ovet the top.
Chavanel trying to get away...last mountain on the stage.
The chaos of escapis have just started.
MASS CRASH! tondo out of the top 10. overall fight....damm... 23. overall after the stage. F**k it
And contador using the oportunity to get away now !
But A. schleck seemed to be the strongest.
A hungry Schleck is pushing on for a stage win and overall.
Just a reminder its still 3 stages after this one...flat but, alot can happen.
Schleck closing in to the stage finish line...
....But will he hold on?
Sastre realising top 10 is going to be hard...but fitnes on 63pts. That is some hardcore !
The group behind Schleck started looking at each other and.. he hold on!
Sastre coming in ...a little behind
Sastre needs to take some intermediate points |

A flat stage were we are riding for Haussler.
Are tactics are bonus sec. with Sastre, help the peleton getting a bunch sprint
Leadout train would be Konovalovas -> Lancaster -> Haussler -> top 3

The bunch was fighting for the first intermediate sprint, Sastre took one sek. After that a breakaway of nine got away.
But there was no big favorites there, they had 6:54 at the best. When the peleton got up on their back, they suddenly went from 23sek up to 1:12 again. But the bunch got to them about 16km to go.
6,7km to go. Lancaster and Haussler have found each other.
Looking good. Important not to go upfront to early, alot of wind...
....But of course we did, and Haussler falling down a little bit and found the wheel of Cardoso.

The bunch were going slow at the start, and sastre took 1sec.
1.57behind now. 2sec behind the top 10.
But it's alot of wind on todays stage. the bunch can break apart.
At 74km to go, the breakaway had 7:46, i needed to help now.
30km to go 4.23 only cervelo doing any job, the rest perently don't want a bunch sprint. 19km to go 2:12
And of some insane reason Oroz on the 10. overall startin pulling the peleton and got 13min behind, i think it was beacause he was just behind Konovalovas and cuesta when they where going insane fast up front.
The strong breakaway was: Nocentini, aerts and Charteau
That is why !
Lancaster leading Haussler in a good good position.... But is it to early?
But they came faster up on the side and Haussler got a little bit locked in position.
One stage remaining ! |

Aiming for top 15. today.
Hammond our leader 76fitness pts.
A breakway of 4 got away early on the stage, but they were never a problem
First time over monteberg. Rasch anf Hammond in a good position.
First time over Kemmelberg, still no big gaps.
On their way down from monteberg for the last time, a little bit bigger gaps now.
On their way down from kemmelberg.
Hammond a little bit behind.
Langevled gave it all over the top and the peleton exploded.
Langeveld -> Favorite group -> 3rd group, who are in which group?
The favorites...
Pozzato in trouble
The men in this group are:
Steegmans, Van summeren, O'Grady, Boonen, Cancellara and Pozzato.
Pozzato seems to be the one in most trouble...
...well he got enough adrealin to get away, steegmans are coming fast behind him.
The group haven't given up just yet.
Other cervelo riders:
21. Rasch +6,43
43. Hunt +12,21
44. Florencio +12,21
97. Bos +19,56
Well my team for Roubaix and vlaanderen where just getting chillin, it wasn't the best team i sent today. |
