On a side note, the new Omnium will suit Armistead down to the ground.
(And i finally understand the scoring alot better now, after watching all 5 events, rather than the 2 we usually get to see).

Chris Hoy is mortal again. Beaten by Forstemann in the 1/8 finals, he is back in through the repechages but now faces Bauge in the 1/4 finals - the two fastest qualifiers, and one wont reach the Semis.
And it didnt get any better. 3 Brits in the Quarter finals, 0 Brits in the Semi finals. Thats dissapointing
what is up with the british school of sprint tactics - they love to leave a huge gap and create a lot of work for themselves. too much work evidently
I think it's the track, different tactics are in use due to the longer straights
well it failed.
The British team haven't adjusted their tactics in the most part
my point still stands. marginal gains, marginal schmains, they should have adjusted the tactics
This is the problem, start winning golds, people expect it. It's hard to win gold, don't forget it.
this isn't the problem though. they lost a ton of races by letting the rider get too big a gap.
on your side note though, i like the scoring system. it means they have to race hard in every race because, if you screw up, you can easily pick up 15 points and you've lost.

Bauge and Hoy was fantastic. Worthy of being a final (and would have been if Hoy wasn't caught out by the german guy).

The Bauge vs Hoy sprints were the highlight of the day.
I'm _hugely_ disappointed with Mørkøv and Rasmussen. Complete waste of time.
At least I got to sit next to Bjarne Riis for a short while |

Thought they did pretty well - probably the second best team in the race. Marked out of it by the Aussies though when trying to gain the lap. |

Defending champions and local riders really put a big target on their head - you really need to do well to get a lap when theres no chance of sneaking away. You attack, crowd goes mad, others respond. Although saying that, Australia were the 2nd most marked and got a lap, while in 2008 Wiggins and Cavendish were able to win in Manchester. (Attack in last 30 laps having been marked so heavily beforehand)
But thats Madison for you

I screwed up with my bet on Mørkøv and Rasmussen. I had initially betted 66 PCM$, but decided to up that to 606 PCM$ today ...
I'm glad it's not real money |

How was he beated by that german guy? Can't imagine Hoy lost at his skills, must have been a tactical mistake? |

Förstemann attacked at the beginning and rode it like a kilo time-trial (just heard it)

Yeh Forstemann caught Hoy by surprise, going flat out from the start. He got a big gap, and Hoy clawed it back all the way to pretty much a photo finish, but Forstemann had done enough to cling on

Pendleton was also pretty amazing, by the way. She crashed in the 2nd heat of the gold final and looked hurt, but managed to make it through and win anyway. |

Kenny was outclassed by Sireau, and then Crampton adopted very bad tactics after going 1 up against Forstemann, and lost 2-1

Yeah, she said afterwards something along the lines of the adrenaline just wants you to get back up and compete again right away.
They're all tough from this part of the country
