Ninth stage. Frosinone - Cava de Tirreni
Another flat stage, but this time with uphill finish. After yesterday's mountain I expected that breakaway group will fight for victory, but peloton was angry today. No breakaways were last more than 30 km, so when we came to Cava de Tirreni, it should be mass sprint.
With the beginning of a climb Jose Serpa tried to ecape, but he didn't succeed. After that there wasn't time to attack, we should just sprint and thats all.
Francesco Ginanni was very strong today, as he didn't do much job a day before. He started his sprint first but it was too early. Matteo Carrara gone from his wheel and made huge advantage at finish. Ginanni crossed the line on second position.
It was good stage to show my own sprinting ability and I tried to hang on Ginanni's wheel, but I couldn't do that. At the end I finished 5th, which is quite good.

Tenth stage. Avellino - Bettonto
Another boring flat stage that ended in bunch sprint. Toady I was feeling way better that in any previous day and I tried to help Ginnani. It was really mess in finish and Francesco even didn't catch my wheel in the end, so he had to sprint for the position and finished only 4th, right after me! It's my first top-3 finish in Grand-tour, so I am very excited!
Stage results:
1 Mattia Gavazzi Colnago - CSF Inox 5h24'45
2 Julian Dean Garmin - Transitions s.t.
3 Max Belaschov Androni Giocattoli s.t.
4 Francesco Ginanni Androni Giocattoli s.t.
5 Filippo Pozzato Team Katusha s.t.
6 Matteo Carrara Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team s.t.
7 Leonardo Bertagnolli Androni Giocattoli s.t.
8 Rubén Plaza Caisse d'Epargne s.t.
9 Tomas Vaitkus Team RadioShack s.t.
10 Francis De Greef Omega Pharma - Lotto s.t.
Eleventh stage. Lucera - Acquila
Today it was fantastic stage. Very long, over 250 km's and hilly one. To be honest, today's stage was the one, which I rounded in my race book before the Race. It's quite demanding to riders climbing abilities, stamina and their tactical feeling.
We were afraid of breakaways today and tried to manage there for a few times. Alessandro Bertolini was our today's breaker. He was the most powerful member in there indeed, so he had got all mountain prizes and he was the very last man to be catched by peloton.
But after catching the break, we didn't calm down and at the very same moment Leo Bertagnolli, my room-mate in this Race, attacked at the hill.
Leo is in fantastic shape now, he finished in top-10 yesterday and made so powerful attack, that nobody even thought about hold his wheel. He quickly made very big advantage - over two minutes, and in spite of on last, finishing climb he was already exhausted, he made it!
Our second victory in this year's Giro! It was very emotional moment. Everyone wanted to congratulate Leo first, so we even pushed ourselves
Anyway, as we still in a middle of the race, we didn't made big party about that. But, when we were to bed, Leo and me, we had a bottle of beer for today's stage. I hope, that you won't tell about that to our team-managers?
Stage results:
1 | Leonardo Bertagnolli | Androni Giocattoli | 6h57'40 | 2 | Matteo Carrara | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | + 36 | 3 | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | s.t. | 4 | Francesco Ginanni | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 5 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 6 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | 7 | Alessandro Ballan | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 8 | Sergueï Ivanov | Team Katusha | s.t. | 9 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 10 | Andrea Tonti | CarmioOro NGC | s.t. |
GC:
1 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | 44h57'12 | 2 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | + 31 | 3 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | + 1'19 | 4 | Rubén Plaza | Caisse d'Epargne | + 1'24 | 5 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | + 1'41 | 6 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 1'49 | 7 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 1'52 | 8 | Juan Mauricio Soler | Caisse d'Epargne | + 2'01 | 9 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | + 2'05 | 10 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | + 2'37 |

great result for Bertagnolli and nice top 3 on the previous stage, looking good for a top 10, maybe top 5 overall.

Last stages before mountains.
Twelfths stage. Citta Sant'Angelo - Porto Recanati
It was really boring stage. The most important thing today was that it was sufficiently less riders at the start. Yesterday's stage was too tough for some of them, and many riders didn't made it to time limit. So, today 167 riders took start. And only 166 finished, Pieter Weening broke his rib at the finish crash.
After yesterday's beer I didn't feel good, but not too much. Leo was looking really satisfied and he was telling about his feelings all the stage.
At the end it was sprint, and some of the riders was on a ground. Bertagnolli was our only rider who was involved, so I think tomorrow he will tell us about this crash all the way
Pipo Pozzato was unsurprising winner today.
Stage results:
1 | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | 3h54'22 | 2 | Matteo Carrara | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 3 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 4 | Michele Scarponi | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 5 | Francesco Failli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | 6 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 7 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | 8 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 9 | Alessandro Bertolini | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 10 | Emanuele Sella | CarmioOro NGC | s.t. |
Thirteenth stage. Porto Recanati - Cesenatico
We were passing a corner, when Francesco Ginanni increased his speed to maximum and started his finishing spurt. I thought: "What a hell is he doing? It's a whole kilometer to finish!" But he was very strong. He made that kilometer as I think only Misha Ignatiev can.
Nobody could imagine that from our sprinter, so when Pozzatto made his move it was too late. He could only catch Francesco, but not to overtake him. It was our third victory at this Race and it's unbelievable!
Moreover, that pair made few seconds of advantage, andit was me, who was first from others, so I had got some seconds in GC and excanged places with Cunego!
Stage results:
1 | Francesco Ginanni | Androni Giocattoli | 5h22'18 | 2 | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | s.t. | 3 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 25 | 4 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 5 | Andrea Tonti | CarmioOro NGC | s.t. | 6 | Matteo Carrara | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 7 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 8 | Daniele Pietropolli | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 9 | Daniel Moreno | Omega Pharma - Lotto | s.t. | 10 | Francesco Failli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. |
Fourteenth stage. Ferrara - Asolo
Almost flat stage, with very tough Monte Grappa with 40 km to finish, and at last early breakaway had won a stage! It was interesting stage, as Bjorn Leukemans, who was stripped from his Maglia Verde by our Alex Bertolini yesterday, attacked and wanted to win GPM, but there was Giunti and Larsson, who were ahead of him in summit. So, Alessandro will start tomorrow stage at green jersey again.
Saxo Bank rider made his race today very strong. He was the best at the uphill and nobody could catch him on last kilometers. At the end he was so tired, that he didn't celebrate a victory, just stopped his bike and fell on his manager hands.
We tried to race carefully today, as tomorrow it will be mountains. Monte Zonkolan, the mountain I am afraid of. But after that it will be second rest day, when I will be preparing to my stage at th Plan de Corones, Mountain ITT.
Stage results:
1 | Gustav Erik Larsson | Team Saxo Bank | 5h23'28 | 2 | Filippo Pozzato | Team Katusha | + 1'27 | 3 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | s.t. | 4 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | s.t. | 5 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | s.t. | 6 | Francesco Ginanni | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. | 7 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | s.t. | 8 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | s.t. | 9 | Matteo Carrara | Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 10 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | s.t. |
GC:
1 | Marzio Bruseghin | Caisse d'Epargne | 59h39'12 | 2 | Juan José Cobo | Caisse d'Epargne | + 31 | 3 | Franco Pellizotti | Liquigas - Doimo | + 1'11 | 4 | Rubén Plaza | Caisse d'Epargne | + 1'24 | 5 | Stefano Garzelli | Acqua & Sapone | + 1'41 | 6 | Max Belaschov | Androni Giocattoli | + 1'44 | 7 | Damiano Cunego | Lampre - Farnese Vini | + 1'49 | 8 | Juan Mauricio Soler | Caisse d'Epargne | + 2'01 | 9 | Tony Martin | Team HTC - Columbia | + 2'05 | 10 | Yaroslav Popovych | Team RadioShack | + 2'29 |
