Never had any alcohol beyond a glass of wine at my Bar Mitzvah.
Yeah, I'm a total square. |

I find it very fun but I don't consider myself an alcoholic yet as I don't drink often. But when I do I drink lots.
That's called binge drinking. And whilst not as dangerous as continuous excessive drinking, it still can be very dangerous!
Binge drinking is associated with neurocognitive deficits of frontal lobe processing and impaired working memory as well as delayed auditory and verbal memory deficits. Recent research has found that young college binge drinkers who drink 4/5+ drinks on more than 3 occasions in the past 2 weeks are statistically 19 times more likely to develop alcoholism than non-binge drinkers, though the path (and direction) of causality remains unclear.
The bladder may rupture if overfilled and not emptied, however urination can alleviate this problem. This can occur in the case of binge drinkers who have consumed very large quantities, but are not aware, due to stupor, of the need to urinate. This condition is very rare in women, but does occur. Symptoms include localized pain and uraemia (poisoning due to reabsorbed waste). The recovery rate is high, with most fatalities due to septic blood poisoning. A person is more likely to urinate while passed out before the bladder ruptures, as alcohol relaxes the muscles that normally control their bladder.[13] A more common risk of consuming massive quantities of alcohol in a short period of time is a dangerously high blood alcohol level. The result is called alcohol poisoning (overdose), which can be fatal. Choking on (or inhalation of) vomit is also a potential cause of death, as are injuries from falls, fights, motor vehicle and bicycle accidents.
You've all been warned kids!

I didn't think it was possible to get lower in my opinion of you... but hell, you just did.
(Yep, I'm a hypocrite, but never drank under-age).

I stopped drinking at 16
This is the point where everyone usually replies "It's good that you realized you had a problem".
I didn't. I just hate the taste of alcohol (and not for lack of trying)

Exactly the same for me. Although I didn't try all that hard to like it...

the legal drinking age when in your house is 5 in the UK. Now doesn't that just fit the stereotype of binge Britain so well
That's perfectly fine to me. I have the odd glass of wine with my dinner, and noone, not even idiots are going to make their kids binge drink at 5. |

I dislike beer. Which is hard for many "British" people to understand. Ale, disgusting. Lager, wrong. Bitter, shouldn't exist.
But, a casual sneaky pint of local cider, in a warm pub with an open fire, and a close environment, surrounded by friends, and laughs. That, that is the reason for a nice drink.

didn't really drink till i got too uni at 17, went to town for a bit, now I have calmed down slightly.
On the topic of binge drinking, the units limit that the British government set is ridiculously low.

Couldn't agree more with the 2 posts above (apart from the dislike of beers of course )

I drank, last night, my weekly limits. Easily. And I've been out 4 nights in a week one week this year. Tell me that's not bad for me!

All of you, gentlemen, are saints. Me, I normally have 3 or 4 pints when I go to a pub (specially if it is a nice Tripel Karmeliet). But, on the other hand, I hate to get drunk. Actually, I've been drunk just 3 times in my life.

well I don't blame you but I just can't beleive that none of you have drank underage. It's very common in north america. But maybe not in Europe I guess. I haven't been drunk yet this year if that helps but knowing you it won't. (atleast I tried)

It's the opposite. Although plenty of people drink underage in North America, an even higher percentage does in Europe.

No one doing it hates it. But then you grow up, become slightly less immature, and realise what a complete and utter waste of time and space and money booze is, then you start to hate it.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy boozing when I'm doing it. I just wish I didn't have to.
