Shame that McEwen couldnt last and O'Grady really is invincible at the moment! Hopefully you can get some more good results in these PT races.

Stage 5
Maurs la Jolie - Mende
First "real" stage..this last hill and uphill finish will give us some time caps.
Brochard is down in decent...This is not good for him Bouygues rider will probably loose a lot in GC competition.
Rabobank and CSC working with hard chase tempo..Klier who is today breakaway rider drops last companion Baguet and doing everything to stay clear.
Last mountain top..this is the moment. Colom launches the atack..Leukemans, Ricco and Garate counters...this is the moment race is on.
Downhill section before uphill finish. Ricco and Leukemans has got little advantage..for Colom and Garate.
Here we go finish is near 2km. Martinez, Garate; Leukemans still leading...but here they come first man is Dekker who flying up the hill , Ricco cant follow.
Dekker come and go's. Leukemans made a mistake ..he tryed to follow Dekker..now this last 1,5 km. will be pure suffering.
Dekker leading 400m. to go..Schleck is closing the gap (I was already wondering where he is..when he passed fast Leukemans).
Dekker hangs on and gonna take yellow back...Schleck 2nd....Paulinho 3rd. Leukemans has hard last km. he just was able to get some advantage at peloton. Now I have to just hope that he can recover well after that hugh effort and cant fight my goal in Paris-Nice race..to finish in top 10 final GC

Stage 2
Civitavecchia - Marsciano
Should be sprinters stage.
Brechel is down..no such big loose..for CSC he is already in GC over 12 min. down. And also stealed km. marks signs idea..wich should help out ..to get extra information.
Nibali atacks..he follows Acosta. To much to go...Liquigas young rider will suffer later on.
Peloton is closing fast still 3 guys working fine together in front Nibali, Knees and van Bon.
Here they come...Davis, Ventoso, Cancellara, Boonen form first line. I have to admit again that I'm poor sprinter...McEwen again to tyred after hills..and Rodriquez morale is disaster. I'l be enjoing the moment when Horner drops all those sprinting aces on the hills..
Davis takes a clear win..Cancellara have to give second place to Boonen in the line.

Stage 6
Sorgues - Manosque
Good news in the morning was that Leukemans has recovered well after yesterday hard stage.
45km to go only 3 riders has left in breakaway group Capecci, Pauriol and Feillu.
Last climb before downhill and finish. Leukemans is feeling very good..also I have to thanks Brandt who helped him all stage. I give Leukemans "green light" if he like to..he can make a move.
Just before mountain top..because there wasnt mountain top finish..no one else dont atacked earlyer. Leukemans ..BANG!..he atacks..Rabo and Disco who setting a tempo is surprised.
Kirchen is only man who trys to follow..when he notice that cap is hard to ride down..he gives up and goes back to group.
Leukemans butting everything out what he has left..record advantage is 25sec.
He did it..stage win in Paris-Nice that is exelent result.
Gilbert, Ricco ...Kirchen figting for 2nd. place. I would like to get some extra seconds..to get closer to my goal..finish in top 10.

Stage 3
Marsciano - Macerata
Long 213 km. stage. Riders needed to ride over 4 small hills...but most important what we had is uphill finish.. That should be berfect for mountain-sprinters like Schumacher, Boogerd, Hincapie and Bettini.
200km. to go and surprise for me..Simoni (Saunier-Duval) streching he's legs and atacks. This must be sign that Simoni is not here for win but training for Giro. I even observed what he can do on this hills against fellow escapes. He just drops himself back..and moving realy slow.
Over those small hills where is always some activity noticed..about 5-8 riders go after mountain points. Those atacks hurts peloton..Rabo who is protecting tour leader Dekker always doing some extra speed lenght to close that gap fast. This time there is Vila and Boogerd who are a cause for small panic.
Last hill before flat and uphill finish Celestino and Rodriquez Oliver atacks..this time we get also CSC to help Rabobank out to close that gap...Disco boys also are up there..they planning something for Hincapie today.
This is it..1,5 km. to go Hincapie opens all that he sprint's first..to early. When Bettini and Schumacher counters..Hincapie sufers a lot. Bertagnolli (Liquigas) and Cancellara trying to follow first strong duo.
Hincapie example was good lesson for Horner..and he just keep on hard tempo and also he should thank van Summeren who protected well.
When they come out at corner..Schumacher and Bettini got already solid advantage.
Bettini it is..and he also will awarded by yellow jersey. For me ...think I found tour major favorite will be Schumacher if we know that TT is still ahead.

Stage 7
Brignoles - Cannes
Today we got..hilly stage. Those who want to battle about polka-dot jersey..should be in breakaway group today. Leukemans should be careful on that last hill at 180km...plan was not to send some guy after polka-dot..major goal is still protect Leukemans, and keep that hope that he will finish inside top 10 alive.
102 km. to go Liquigas and Noe atacks...Noe is strong he get 40sec. lead..and brave thing is he keep it ..that way 50km.
This is the moment last climb before finish and F.Schleck in the fire...peloton catches early breakaway group on the same hill..and also same hill is end for Noe solo attempt.
There is lot of atacks before downhill..just in case even Leukemans doing short atack to avoid possible split..Valverde is also active..Ricco. But peloton comes all back together only exepction is that Schleck is gone...smart move, he used that mess situation well.
Here he comes..he can celebrate already before the line..But later if we look GC..we can be smarter..he should be ride 100% all the way..18 sec. short to get yellow from Dekker.
This is fight for 2nd. place. Kopp is leading then Gilbert..Leukemans and O'Grady. Leukemans realy should be glad if he get's some extra seconds.
Kopp takes 2nd. and O'Grady 3rd. Leukemans 4th. and no extra time to get.

Stage 4
Pievebovigliana - Offagna
Few hills and most of all flat stage...but there is also uphill finish..should be again mountain-sprinters show.
Grillo and Monfort are first to breakaway riders...Grillo is even so exited that he dont wanna work with Monfort and trying go for solo. But after first hill..he finds he's friend back again on he's feel.
Burghardt and Di Gregorio trys to catch first duo. Burghardt riding very strong..Di Gregorio cant follow...Burghardt passes Grillo catches also Monfort...and clear he go's he must be in decent shape and will be dengerous force in cobble races.
Ok uphill finish is next action point...Bertagnolli opens the show today. Yestreday third place..has make him ambition..
Bertagnolli has already decent lead..but here he comes my personal favorite for tour win Schumacher...he's closing fast the gap.
Horner, Hincapie and Bettini can only observe who's gonna take a win.
Schumacher comes very close..but just a little to late. Bertagnolli takes stage win.
But Schumacher got he's own reward tout leader jersey.

Stage 8 (last stage)
Nice - Nice
Ok last and most hilly one...this is gonna hard day for Leukemans to even keep up he's 13th. place...plan finishing in top 10 need some miracle.
On those mountain top finishes..Sanchez Gonzalez and Ricco almost all of them..launching atacks to get some mountain classification points. Do they play stupid or they have enough strenght camble with that sord of tactics.
Klier should be named as Paris-Nice tour breakaway star. He had tryed to go for solo almost every day. Today isnt exepction.
Nocentini and Mocoutie are first riders who trys to make some solution. For me it's clearly to early still 60km. to go. As mountains are bigger today Leukemans seems to have problems..to keep up. Just in case prepearing also Jufre for possible breakaway at that last mountain top point 15km. before finish line.
Like I was expected..they atacked. Leukemans and Jufre has no les left to respond..decided to keep them at the peloton..to limit theyr loses at the end.
Colom was rider who opens the atack..on the downhil section we get 4 riders lead group..Colom, Sanchez Gonzalez, Moreau and Ricco.
F.Schleck who kind of missed that atack is chasing them..alone against 4 wont be easy.
Between Schleck and peloton we find another group where is Kirchen, tour leader Dekker and Paulinho. Dekker working hard to chase escapes down. He can loose he's leader jersey and tour win on this last stage.
Even Jufre trys to chase them down and join this group. Peloton chase he'm down fast ..and he is back in busines to protect Leukemans.
Crash in peloton..they just wont be careful enough on those downhill corners.
Sanchez Gonzalez takes a win..strong ride he had today. Moreau will be left out of podium. But when result arived he is the happiest man tour win +3 over Sanchez Gonzales and +10 compared with Dekker. Close one..but then even more sweet this one taste. Predictor best man in GC Leukemans 13th. +3'59..I would call it realism..for middle of all those hilly classics riders..only if is O'Grady...Steegmans should be beaten him. Next goal for Steegmans is Milano-San Remo..he is top form should get some result from there. But one stage win and 13th. place this is enough for..Paris-Nice ..mission over.

Stage 5 (ITT)
Civitanova Marche - Civitanova Alta
20 km. ITT...agian before TT I had this bad feeling. No thinking about winning but just need to be worried how limit the loses. Predictor-Lotto TT scill's need improvments. We have one possible exeption..but we dont talk about that rider about 2 months..
Laszlo Bodrogi opens good times list..he sets the first strong time mark..after every rider has crossed the line he is 20th +1'33
Next we have Liquigas duo..Backstedt (7th. +1'05)...Nibali (8th +1'07)
Gusev is coming..ouch this is fast he beats Liquigas duo in the first time check +18 sec. this is great start (4th. +47)
Millar...(3rd. +36)
Schumacher...I am almost fan at this guy..he past's nr.2 man in GC Bertagnolli. In the line 2nd. +26.
You might already think that..ofcorse Cancellara...
My biggest surprise was Nuyens..who started just after Horner..But Nuyens ride today on he's life TT 6th. +1'05.
Tomorrow stage will be decisive to improve GC standings.

this story and A_Schleck's CSC one are the reason I visit this sub-forum, even though both have their different styles

Stage 6
S.Benedetto del Tronto - S.Giacomo
Ok this is the moment..before the start Predictor-Lotto american leader Chris Horner is 25th. place and +2'44 behind. Tomorrow last stage is for sprinters..dont need even hope to get some time back there.
We get first breakaway group Augustyn, Pinotti and Lökvist.
This is serious Nibali and Boogerd atacks (86 km. to go). Boogerd is 29th. in GC... peloton speed up a little...I'm surprised that Gerolsteiner who need protect theyr leader is actualy capable to keep quite high tempo up on the mountains. In earlyer races they had problem with that.
Another atack 16km. before mountain top and 127km. mark. This time Rujano, Gusev and Piepoli..now peloton is in panic. CSC and Lampre moves front of the peloton to help out Gerolsteiner...after 5km. high tempo they catch strong breakaway duo.
At the same time downhill section..Boogerd who is moving up great..got himself good companion Tonti..they passes one by one early breakaway riders. Next victom is Pinotti..no champagne for him today.
15 km. to go and the last climb...this is the moment Bettini hits first then Hincapie, Bertagnolli they realy planning to fight thrue the end to get some result against tour dominator Schumacher...still much to go..Horner still wait a little..you can compete with those mountain horses ..with your relevent day form.
Millar was Horner to companion...they set high tempo and are join main group...hard but beautiful move.
Wach out boys here he comes...all tour "comet" Schumacher good bye peloton..and damn he's closing fast.
Few moments later..here he go's. When Schumacher moves front at the group..he's tempo is amazing. Horner is in difficulty..he decided to keep on that climb on he's own tempo...accept this tempo will be murder...and today breakaway rider Boogerd also at the same place with him. I have to admire Andrea Tonti today...long and exhausting breakaway ride he still hangs on..clearly in difficulty. But fine fighter he is.
Schumacher has done it again...if tomorrow something weird want happening he is a tour winner.
Boogerd and Horner finishing..they keep himself clear at peloton chase that is good sign and they almost got Tonti. 8th. in GC..has manager I'm more then pleased..

wow
Schumacher must be in brilliant form...
that and the "mountain" stage of the tirreno doesn't exactly use the "Mountain" attribute, but 50% mountain, 50% hill
here's to McEwen winning on the Via Roma!

Stage 7 (last stage)
Civitella del Tronto - S.Benedetto del Tronto
Last stage..Robbie my man now should be moment to get your name shine again. At least I do everything what I can...helpers how many he wants and main rider position for today's race.
Davis, Hushovd, Napolitano and the McEwen...at least fault isnt choosing wrong backwheel. Rodriguez is waching Boonen.
900m to go..come on..
Hushovd takes a win..McEwen 4th. not good enough. That would be nice take also in Adriatico stage win, no this year. I am happy with Horner and he's 8th. in GC...after coming home I should take a look UCI ProTour stats list.
